1 Entonces Booz subió al lugar público de la ciudad y tomó asiento allí; y él pariente cercano con el que había estado hablando llegó; y Booz, gritándole por su nombre, dijo: Ven y siéntate aquí. Y vino y se sentó.

Then Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, Ho, such an one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 Luego tomó a diez de los hombres responsables de la ciudad y les pidió que se sentaran. Y tomaron sus asientos.

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3 Luego dijo al pariente cercano: Noemí, que ha regresado del país de Moab, está ofreciendo por un precio la porción de tierra que era de nuestro hermano Elimelec.

And he said to the kinsman, Naomi, that hast come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:

4 Y estaba en mi mente darte la oportunidad de comprarlo, con la aprobación de los que están sentados aquí y de los hombres responsables de mi pueblo. Si está listo para hacer lo que es correcto porque eres el pariente más cercano, entonces házlo: pero si no lo haces, dímelo ahora; porque no hay nadie que tenga derecho a hacerlo sino tú, y después yo mismo. Y él dijo: Yo lo haré.

And I thought to tell thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it besides thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 Entonces Booz dijo: El día que tomes este campo, tendrás que llevar consigo a Rut, la moabita, la esposa de los muertos, para que puedas mantener el nombre de los muertos que viven en su herencia.

Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 Y el pariente dijo: No podré redimir, por temor a dañar la herencia que tengo: usa tu mi derecho de redención, porque yo no podré redimir.

And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

7 Ahora, en tiempos anteriores este era la costumbre en Israel cuando las propiedades eran tomadas por un pariente cercano, o cuando había un cambio de propietario. Para hacer el intercambio, un hombre se quitó el zapato y se lo dio al otro; Y este fue un testigo en Israel.

Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for confirming all things; a man took off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

8 Entonces él pariente cercano le dijo a Booz: Tómalo para ti. Y se quitó el zapato.

Therefore the kinsman said to Boaz, Buy it for thyself. So he drew off his shoe.

9 Entonces Booz dijo a los hombres responsables y a toda la gente: Ustedes son testigos hoy de que he tomado a precio de Noemí todas las propiedades que eran de Elimelec y todas las de Chilion y Mahlon.

And Boaz said to the elders, and to all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of Naomi.

10 Y, además, he tomado a Rut, la moabita, que era la esposa de Mahlon, como mi esposa, para mantener el nombre del hombre muerto que vive en su herencia, para que su nombre no sea cortado. de entre sus compatriotas, y de la memoria de su pueblo: ustedes son testigos hoy.

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

11 Y todas las personas que estaban en el lugar público, y los hombres responsables, dijeron: Somos testigos. Que el Señor haga a esta mujer que está a punto de entrar en tu casa, como Raquel y Lea, dos de las cuales fueron los constructores de la casa de Israel; y que tengas riquezas en Efrata, y seas grande en Belén;

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that hath come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two built the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

12 Que tu familia sea como la familia de Fares, el que Tamar dio luz a Judá, por la descendencia que el Señor puede darte por esta joven.

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

13 Entonces, Booz tomó a Rut y ella se convirtió en su esposa; Y él se llegó a ella, y el Señor le permitió que se embarazará, y ella dio a luz un hijo.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 Y las mujeres dijeron a Noemí: Una bendición al Señor, por haberte permitido tener un pariente cercano, y que su nombre sea grande en Israel.

And the women said to Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, who hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

15 Él será un restaurador de vida nueva para ti, y tu consolador cuando seas vieja, él hijo de tu nuera, quien, en su amor por ti, es mejor que siete hijos, lo ha dado a luz.

And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thy old age: for thy daughter in law, who loveth thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him.

16 Y Naomi tomó al niño y lo rodeó con sus brazos, y ella se ocupó de criarlo.

And Naomi took the child, and laid him in her bosom, and became his nurse.

17 Y las mujeres que eran sus vecinas le pusieron nombre, diciendo: Noemí tiene un hijo; y le dieron el nombre de Obed: él es el padre de Isaí, el padre de David.

And the women her neighbours gave him a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 Estas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares se convirtió en el padre de Hezron;

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19 Y Hezron engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab;

And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

20 Y Aminadab engendró a Naason, y Naason engendró a Salmon;

And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21 Y Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed.

And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22 Y Obed fue el padre de Isaí, e Isaí fue el padre de David.

And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
