Romanos 4
1 ¿Qué podemos decir que Abraham, nuestro padre ganó según la carne?
What shall we say then, that Abraham our father hath found concerning the flesh?
2 Porque si Abraham fue justificado por las obras, tiene razón para el orgullo; pero no ante Dios.
For if Abraham were iustified by workes, he hath wherein to reioyce, but not with God.
3 ¿Pero qué dice en las Sagradas Escrituras? Y Abraham tuvo fe en Dios, y le fue contado como justicia.
For what saith the Scripture? Abraham beleeued God, and it was counted to him for righteousnesse.
4 Ahora bien, la recompensa se le acredita a quien hace las obras, no como por gracia, sino como una deuda.
Nowe to him that worketh, the wages is not counted by fauour, but by dette:
5 Pero al que sin obras, tiene fe en aquel que justifica al impío, su fe le es contada como justicia.
But to him that worketh not, but beleeueth in him that iustifieth the vngodly, his faith is counted for righteousnesse.
6 Como David dice que hay una bendición sobre el hombre por cuya cuenta Dios justifica sin obras, diciendo:
Euen as Dauid declareth the blessednesse of the man, vnto whom God imputeth righteousnes without workes, saying,
7 Felices son los que tienen perdón por su maldad, y cuyos pecados están cubiertos.
Blessed are they, whose iniquities are forgiuen, and whose sinnes are couered.
8 Feliz es el hombre contra quien el Señor no registra ningún pecado.
Blessed is the man, to whom the Lord imputeth not sinne.
9 ¿Es esta bendición, entonces, solo para la circuncisión, o corresponderá también a los que no lo están? porque decimos que la fe de Abraham fue puesta a su cuenta como justicia.
Came this blessednesse then vpon the circumcision onely, or vpon the vncircumcision also? For we say, that faith was imputed vnto Abraham for righteousnesse.
10 ¿Cómo, entonces, fue juzgado? cuando tuvo la circuncisión, o cuando no la tuvo? No cuando la tuvo, sino cuando no la tuvo:
Howe was it then imputed? when he was circumcised, or vncircumcised? not when he was cricumcised, but when he was vncircumcised.
11 Y se le dio la señal de la circuncisión como testigo de la fe que tuvo antes de ser sometido a la circuncisión: para que él sea el padre de todos los que tienen fe, aunque no tienen circuncisión, y para que la justicia sea puesta a su cuenta;
After, he receiued the signe of circumcision, as the seale of the righteousnesse of ye faith which he had, when he was vncircumcised, that he should be the father of all them that beleeue, not being circumcised, that righteousnesse might be imputed to them also,
12 Y el padre de la circuncisión para los que no solo son de la circuncisión, sino que se mantienen en el camino de la fe que tenía nuestro padre Abraham antes de ser sometido a la circuncisión.
And the father of circumcision, not vnto them onely which are of the circumcision, but vnto them also that walke in the steppes of the faith of our father Abraham, which he had when he was vncircumcised.
13 Porque la promesa de Dios, que la tierra sería su heredad, le fue dada a Abraham o su descendencia, no por la ley, sino por la justicia de la fe.
For the promise that he should be the heire of the worlde, was not giuen to Abraham, or to his seede, through the Lawe, but through the righteousnesse of faith.
14 Porque si los que son de la ley son las personas que obtienen la herencia, entonces la fe no tiene uso, y la palabra de Dios no tiene poder;
For if they which are of the Lawe, be heires, faith is made voide, and the promise is made of none effect.
15 Porque el resultado de la ley es ira; pero donde no hay ley, tampoco hay transgresión.
For the Lawe causeth wrath: for where no Lawe is, there is no transgression.
16 Por esta razón es de fe, para que sea por gracia; y para que la palabra de Dios sea cierta para toda la simiente; no solo a lo que es de la ley, sino a lo que es de la fe de Abraham, que es el padre de todos nosotros,
Therefore it is by faith, that it might come by grace, and the promise might be sure to all the seede, not to that onely which is of the Lawe: but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of vs all,
17 (Como dice en las Sagradas Escrituras, te he hecho padre de muchas naciones) delante de él en quien tuvo fe, es decir, Dios, que da vida a los muertos, y quien llama las cosas que no son, como si fuesen.
(As it is written, I haue made thee a father of many nations) euen before God whom he beleeued, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those thinges which be not, as though they were.
18 quien sin razón de esperanza, en la fe, esperó, y se hizo padre de muchas naciones, como se había dicho: así será tu simiente.
Which Abraham aboue hope, beleeued vnder hope, that he should be the father of many nations: according to that which was spoken to him, So shall thy seede be.
19 Y no siendo débil en la fe, aunque su cuerpo le pareció un poco mejor que muerto (tenía alrededor de cien años) y Sara ya no era capaz de tener hijos:
And he not weake in the faith, considered not his owne bodie, which was nowe dead, being almost an hundreth yeere olde, neither the deadnes of Saraes wombe.
20 Sin embargo, él no abandonó la fe en la promesa de Dios, pero se hizo fuerte por la fe, glorificando a Dios,
Neither did he doubt of the promise of God through vnbeliefe, but was strengthened in the faith, and gaue glorie to God,
21 y estando seguro de que Dios tiene poder Para cumplir la palabra que prometió.
Being fully assured that he which had promised, was also able to doe it.
22 Por lo cual su fe, fue a su cuenta como justicia.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousnesse.
23 Ahora, no fue solo por él que esto fue dicho,
Nowe it is not written for him onely, that it was imputed to him for righteousnesse,
24 Pero para nosotros, además, a quién se nos contará, si tenemos fe en aquel que resucitó a Jesús nuestro Señor.
But also for vs, to whom it shalbe imputed for righteousnesse, which beleeue in him that raised vp Iesus our Lord from the dead,
25 Que fue ejecutado por nuestros pecados, y volvió a la vida para que pudiéramos ser justificados.
Who was deliuered to death for our sinnes, and is risen againe for our iustification.
