Romanos 3
1 ¿Qué ventaja tiene el ser judío? o ¿qué beneficio hay en la circuncisión?
What is then the preferment of the Iewe? or what is the profite of circumcision?
2 Mucho, todos los sentidos: primero porque se les confió la palabra de Dios.
Much euery maner of way: for chiefly, because vnto them were of credite committed the oracles of God.
3 Y si algunos no tienen fe, ¿eso hará que la fidelidad de Dios no tenga efecto?
For what, though some did not beleeue? shall their vnbeliefe make the faith of God without effect?
4 De ninguna manera: pero que Dios sea veraz, y todo hombre mentiroso; como se dice en las Escrituras, para que seas justificado en tus palabras, y saldrás vencedor cuando seas juzgado.
God forbid: yea, let God be true, and euery man a lyar, as it is written, That thou mightest be iustified in thy words, and ouercome, when thou art iudged.
5 Pero si nuestra injusticia magnífica la justicia de Dios, ¿qué diremos? ¿Dios es injusto porque nos castiga? (Hablo como hombre)?
Now if our vnrighteousnes comend the righteousnes of God, what shall we say? Is God vnrighteous which punisheth? (I speake as a man.)
6 De ninguna manera: porque si es así, ¿cómo juzgaría Dios al mundo?
God forbid: els how shall God iudge ye world?
7 Pero si, mi mentira sirve para que la verdad de Dios resulte aún más gloriosa, ¿por qué soy juzgado como un pecador?
For if the veritie of God hath more abounded through my lye vnto his glorie, why am I yet condemned as a sinner?
8 y porque no decir? hagamos mal para que venga el bien (una calumnia que dicen algunos, que yo enseño), pero tales personas su condenación es justa.
And (as we are blamed, and as some affirme, that we say) why doe we not euil, that good may come thereof? whose damnation is iust.
9 ¿Entonces qué? los judíos somoss mejores que ellos? De ninguna manera: porque antes hemos dejado en claro que tanto los judíos como los gentiles están bajo el poder del pecado;
What then? are we more excellent? No, in no wise: for we haue alreadie prooued, that all, both Iewes and Gentiles are vnder sinne,
10 Como está dicho en las Sagradas Escrituras: no hay justo ni uno solo;
As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.
11 No hay quien entienda, no uno que busque a Dios;
There is none that vnderstandeth: there is none that seeketh God.
12 Todos se han apartado, todos se hicieron inútiles; no hay quien haga el bien, ni siquiera uno:
They haue all gone out of the way: they haue bene made altogether vnprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.
13 Su garganta es como un sepulcro abierto; con sus lenguas han dicho lo que no es cierto: el veneno de las serpientes está bajo sus labios:
Their throte is an open sepulchre: they haue vsed their tongues to deceit: the poyson of aspes is vnder their lippes.
14 Cuya boca está llena de maldiciones y palabras amargas:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitternesse.
15 Sus pies corren rápidamente para derramar sangre;
Their feete are swift to shead blood.
16 La destrucción y miseria hay en sus caminos;
Destruction and calamity are in their waies,
17 Y del camino de la paz no tienen conocimiento:
And ye way of peace they haue not knowen.
18 No hay temor de Dios delante de sus ojos.
The feare of God is not before their eies.
19 Ahora bien, sabemos que lo que la ley dice, es para los que están bajo la ley, para que toda boca se cierre y todos los hombres sean juzgados por Dios.
Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God.
20 Porque por las obras de la ley ningún hombre puede ser justificado, porque a través de la ley viene el conocimiento del pecado.
Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.
21 Pero ahora, sin la ley, hay una revelación de la justicia de Dios, a la cual la ley y los profetas dan testimonio;
But nowe is the righteousnesse, of God made manifest without the Lawe, hauing witnes of the Lawe and of the Prophets,
22 Es decir, la justicia de Dios por medio de la fe en Jesucristo, para todos los que tienen fe en él; porque no hay diferencia entre judío y gentil,
To wit, the righteousnesse of God by the faith of Iesus Christ, vnto all, and vpon all that beleeue.
23 porque todos han pecado y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios;
For there is no difference: for all haue sinned, and are depriued of the glorie of God,
24 siendo justificados gratuitamente, por su gracia, por la salvación que es en Cristo Jesús:
And are iustified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Iesus,
25 Dios hizo que Cristo al derramar su sangre, fuera el instrumento del perdón. Este perdón se alcanza por la fe y demuestra que Dios es justo, y que, si pasó por alto los pecados de otro tiempo.
Whom God hath set forth to be a reconciliation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousnes, by the forgiuenesse of the sinnes that are passed,
26 fue solo a causa de su paciencia Y para demostrar su justicia en este tiempo, para que él mismo sea él justo, y él que justifica al que tiene fe en Jesús.
Through the patience of God, to shewe at this time his righteousnesse, that hee might be iust, and a iustifier of him which is of the faith of Iesus.
27 ¿Qué razón, entonces, hay para el orgullo del hombre ante Dios? Está eliminado. ¿Por qué tipo de ley? de obras? No, sino por una ley de fe.
Where is then the reioycing? It is excluded. By what Lawe? of woorkes? Nay: but by the Lawe of faith.
28 Por esta razón, entonces, el hombre es justificado por fe sin las obras de la ley.
Therefore we conclude, that a man is iustified by faith, without the workes of the Lawe.
29 ¿O es Dios el Dios de los Judíos solamente? ¿No es él de la misma manera el Dios de los gentiles? Sí, de gentiles:
God, is he the God of the Iewes onely, and not of the Gentiles also? Yes, euen of the Gentiles also.
30 Si Dios es uno; y él justificará por la fe a los de circuncisión, y por la fe a los que no tienen la circuncisión.
For it is one God, who shall iustifie circumcision of faith, and vncircumcision through faith.
31 Entonces, ¿por medio de la fe, la ley no tiene efecto? de ninguna manera: más bien confirmamos el valor de la ley.
Doe we then make the Lawe of none effect through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the Lawe.
