Romanos 13
1 Que todos se pongan bajo la autoridad de los poderes superiores, porque no hay poder que no sea de Dios, y todos los poderes están ordenados por Dios.
Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but from God: the powers that are, are ordained by God.
2 Por lo cual, cualquiera que se oponga a la autoridad se pone en contra del orden de Dios; y los que están en contra de ella recibirán castigo por sí mismos.
Whoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 Porque los gobernantes no están para infundir temor al qué hace él bien, sino al que hace mal. Quieres vivir sin miedo a la autoridad? haz el bien y tendrás alabanza de ella;
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power; do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same:
4 Porque él es servidor de Dios para tu bien. Pero si haces el mal, ten miedo; porque la espada no está en su mano para nada: él es el siervo de Dios, para dar su merecido al que hace lo malo.
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou doest that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, an avenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Así que es preciso someterse a las autoridades, no para evitar el castigo, sino como un deber de conciencia.
Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 Por la misma razón, hagan pago de los impuestos; porque la autoridad es el siervo de Dios, para cuidar de tales cosas todo el tiempo.
For, for this cause ye pay tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Den a todos lo que es su derecho: al que tributo, tributo; al que impuestos, impuestos; al que respeto, respeto; al que honra, honra.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
8 No deban nada a nadie, sino que se amen los unos a los otros; porque el que ama al prójimo guarda toda la ley.
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9 Porque, no adulterarás, no matarás, no hurtarás, no dirás falso testimonio, no codiciarás y cualquier otro mandamiento, en esta sentencia, se resume: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there is] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
10 El amor no hace mal a su prójimo; así que el amor se cumple perfectamente la ley.
Love worketh no ill to one's neighbor: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.
11 Mira, pues, que ha llegado el momento de que despiertes del sueño; porque ahora está tu salvación más cerca que cuando creímos en él mensaje por primera vez.
And this, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 La noche se ha ido, y el día se acerca, desechemos pues las obras de las tinieblas y vistámonos de la s armas de la luz,
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
13 Con la conducta correcta como en el día; no en el placer y la bebida, la glotonería, no en la mala compañía y la inmoralidad sexual, no en contiendas, la envidia.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 Vístanse del Señor Jesucristo, y no piensen en satisfacer los malos deseos la naturaleza humana.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the lusts of flesh.
