Salmos 91

1 Feliz es aquel cuyo lugar de descanso está en el secreto del Señor, y bajo la sombra de las alas del Altísimo;

Those who live under the protection of God Almighty, will be able to rest [safely] under his care.

2 Quien dice del Señor, Él es mi lugar seguro y mi torre de fortaleza: él es mi Dios, en quien está mi esperanza.

I will declare to Yahweh, “You protect me; [you are like] a fort [MET] in which I am safe. You are my God, the one in whom I trust.”

3 Él te librará del lazo del cazador y te mantendrá a salvo de la enfermedad.

Yahweh will rescue you from all hidden traps and save you from deadly diseases.

4 Estarás cubierto por sus plumas; bajo sus alas estarás seguro: su fidelidad será tu salvación.

He will shield/protect you [like a bird shields/protects its chicks] [MET] with/under her wings. You will be safe (in his care/because he takes care of you). His faithfully doing what he has promised is like a shield [MET] that will protect you.

5 No tendrás miedo de las cosas malvadas de la noche, o de la flecha que vuela durante el día,

You will not be afraid of things that happen during the night that could (terrorize you/cause you to be very afraid), or of arrows that [your enemies will shoot at you] during the day.

6 O de la enfermedad que toma a los hombres en la oscuridad, o de la destrucción que hacen cuando el sol está alto.

You will not be afraid of (plagues/widespread sicknesses) that demons cause when they attack people at night, or of other [evil forces] that kill people at midday.

7 Verás mil caer a tu lado y diez mil a tu derecha; pero no se acercará a ti.

Even if 1,000 people fall [dead] alongside you, even if 10,000 [people are dying] around you, you will not be harmed.

8 Solo con tus ojos verás la recompensa de los malhechores.

Look and see that (wicked people are being punished/God is punishing wicked people)!

9 Porque has dicho: estoy en manos del Señor, el Altísimo es mi lugar de descanso seguro;

If you allow Yahweh to protect you, if you trust God Almighty to (shelter/take care of) you,

10 No vendrá sobre ti mal, y ninguna enfermedad se acercará a tu morada.

nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near your house,

11 Porque él te entregará al cuidado de sus ángeles para mantenerte dondequiera que vayas.

because Yahweh will command his angels to protect you wherever you go.

12 En sus manos te mantendrán arriba, para que tu pie no tropiece contra una piedra.

They will hold you up with their hands, with the result that you will not hurt your foot on a big stone.

13 Pondrás tu pie sobre el león y la serpiente; entre monstruos y serpientes.

You will be [kept safe from being harmed by your enemies] [MET]; [it will be as though] you are stepping on lions and poisonous snakes [without them harming you!]

14 Porque él me ha dado su amor, lo sacaré del peligro; lo pondré en un lugar de honor, porque él ha guardado mi nombre en su corazón.

[Yahweh says], “I will rescue those who love me, I will protect them because they (acknowledge that I am Yahweh/know me).

15 Cuando su clamor se acerque a mí, le responderé; estaré con él en problemas; Lo liberaré del peligro y le daré honor.

When they call out to me, I will answer them. I will help them when they are experiencing trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.

16 Con larga vida será recompensado; y le dejaré ver mi salvación.

I will reward them by enabling them to live a long time, and I will save them.”
