Proverbios 30
1 Las palabras de Agur, el hijo de Jaqué, de Massa. La profecía que dijo a Itiel, a Itiel, y a Ucal de la siguiente manera:
Words of Agur, son of Jakeh, the burden, a declaration of the man to Ithiel—to Ithiel and Ucal: I have wearied myself [for] God, I have wearied myself [for] God, and am consumed.
2 Porque soy más como una bestia que como hombre, no tengo el poder de razonar como un hombre:
For I am more brutish than anyone, And do not have the understanding of a man.
3 No tengo sabiduría para aprender, para que pueda tener el conocimiento del Santo.
Nor have I learned wisdom, Yet I know the knowledge of the Holy Ones.
4 ¿Quién subió al cielo y bajó? ¿Quién tomó los vientos en sus manos? encerrando las aguas en su túnica? ¿por quién se han arreglado todos los confines de la tierra? ¿Cuál es su nombre? y cuál es el nombre de su hijo, si puedes decirlo?
Who went up to the heavens, and comes down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound waters in a garment? Who established all ends of the earth? What [is] His Name? And what [is] His Son’s Name? Surely you know!
5 Toda palabra de Dios es probada: es coraza para los que ponen su fe en él.
Every saying of God [is] tried, He [is] a shield to those trusting in Him.
6 No hagas ninguna adición a sus palabras, o dejará en claro tu error, y serás visto como falso.
Do not add to His words, lest He reason with you, And you have been found false.
7 Te pedí dos cosas; no los guardes de mí antes de mi muerte:
Two things I have asked from You, Do not withhold from me before I die.
8 Aparta de mí todas las cosas falsas y necias: no me des grandes riquezas ni me dejes en necesidad, sino dame solo comida suficiente:
Put vanity and a lying word far from me, Do not give poverty or wealth to me, Cause me to eat the bread of my portion,
9 Por temor a que si estoy lleno, Pueda ser falso contigo y decir: ¿Quién es el Señor? o si soy pobre, puedo convertirme en un ladrón, usando el nombre de mi Dios erróneamente.
Lest I become satiated, and have denied, And have said, “Who [is] YHWH?” And lest I am poor, and have stolen, And have laid hold of the Name of my God.
10 No digas mal de un siervo a su amo, o él te maldecirá, y tendrás problemas.
Do not accuse a servant to his lord, Lest he disapprove of you, and you are found guilty.
11 Hay una generación que maldice a su padre y no le da una bendición a su madre.
A generation lightly esteems their father, And does not bless their mother.
12 Hay una generación que parece estar libre del pecado, pero no son lavados de sus caminos inmundos.
A generation—pure in their own eyes, But not washed from their own filth.
13 Hay una generación, ¡oh cuán llenos de orgullo son sus ojos! ¡Oh, cómo se levantan sus cejas!
A generation—how high are their eyes, Indeed, their eyelids are lifted up.
14 Hay una generación cuyos dientes son como espadas, sus dientes fuertes como cuchillos, para la destrucción de los pobres de la tierra y de los necesitados de entre los hombres.
A generation—their teeth [are] swords, And their jaw-teeth [are] knives, To consume the poor from earth, And the needy from [among] men.
15 El espíritu nocturno tiene dos hijas, dame, dame. Hay tres cosas que nunca están llenas, incluso cuatro que nunca dicen: Suficiente:
To the leech [are] two daughters—Give! Give! Behold, three things are not satisfied, Four have not said “Sufficiency”;
16 El inframundo, y la mujer sin hijo; la tierra que nunca tiene suficiente agua, y el fuego que nunca dice: Suficiente. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol, and a restrained womb, Earth—it [is] not satisfied [with] water, And fire—it has not said, “Sufficiency,” (Sheol h7585)
17 El ojo que se burla de un padre, y no ve valor en una madre cuando sea vieja, será desarraigado por los cuervos del valle, y será alimento para las águilas jóvenes.
An eye that mocks at a father, And despises to obey a mother, Ravens of the valley dig it out, And young eagles eat it.
18 Hay tres cosas, cuya maravilla me supera, incluso cuatro cosas fuera de mi conocimiento:
Three things have been too wonderful for me, Indeed, four that I have not known:
19 El camino de un águila en el aire; el camino de una serpiente sobre una roca; el camino de un barco en el corazón del mar; y el camino de un hombre con una niña.
The way of the eagle in the heavens, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the heart of the sea, And the way of a man in youth.
20 Este es el camino de una esposa infiel; toma comida y, limpiándose la boca, dice: no he hecho nada malo.
So—the way of an adulterous woman, She has eaten and has wiped her mouth, And has said, “I have not done iniquity.”
21 Por tres cosas se mueve la tierra, y hay cuatro que no soportará:
For three things has earth been troubled, And for four—it is not able to bear:
22 Un siervo cuando se convierte en rey; un hombre sin sentido cuando aumenta su riqueza;
For a servant when he reigns, And a fool when he is satisfied with bread,
23 Una mujer odiada cuando está casada; y una sirvienta que toma el lugar de la esposa de su amo.
For a hated one when she rules, And a maidservant when she succeeds her mistress.
24 Hay cuatro cosas que son poco en la tierra, pero son muy sabias:
Four [are] little ones of earth, And they are made wiser than the wise:
25 Las hormigas son un pueblo no fuerte, pero se ponen por una tienda de alimentos en el verano;
The ants [are] a people not strong, And they prepare their food in summer,
26 Los conejos son solo un pueblo débil, pero hacen sus casas en las rocas;
hyraxes [are] a people not strong, And they place their house in a rock,
27 Las langostas no tienen rey, pero todas salen en bandas;
There is no king to the locust, And it goes out—each one shouting,
28 Puedes tomar la lagartija en tus manos, pero está en las casas de los reyes.
A spider with two hands takes hold, And is in the palaces of a king.
29 Hay tres cosas cuyos pasos son buenos de ver, incluso cuatro cuyas salidas son justas:
There are three going well, Indeed, four are good in going:
30 El león, que es más fuerte entre las bestias, no se aparta de su camino por nada;
An old lion—mighty among beasts, That does not turn back from the face of any,
31 El caballo de guerra, y el macho cabrío, y el rey cuando su ejército está con él.
A girt one of the loins, Also a male goat, And a king—troops with him.
32 Si has hecho necedades al levantarte, o si has tenido malos designios, pon tu mano sobre tu boca.
If you have been foolish in lifting yourself up, And if you have devised evil—hand to mouth!
33 La agitación de la leche hace la mantequilla, y la torcedura de la nariz hace que venga la sangre, por lo que forzar la ira es causa de pelea.
For the churning of milk brings out butter, And the wringing of the nose brings out blood, And the forcing of anger brings out strife!
