Proverbios 27
1 No presumas sobre el mañana, ya que no estás seguro de cuál será el resultado de hoy.
Do not boast thyself of to-morrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2 Deja que otro hombre te alabe, y no tu boca; alguien que es extraño para ti, y no tus labios.
Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth, a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 Una piedra tiene un gran peso, y la arena es aplastante; pero la ira de los tontos es de mayor peso que estos.
Heavy is a stone, and weighty is sand, —but, the vexation of a fool, is heavier than both.
4 La ira es cruel y la sensación de enojo es una corriente desbordante; pero, ¿quién no cede ante la envidia?
The cruelty of rage, and the overflow of anger! But who can stand before, jealousy?
5 Mejor es la protesta abierta que el amor mantenido en secreto.
Better is a rebuke that is open, than love carefully concealed.
6 Las heridas de un amigo se dan de buena fe, pero los besos de un enemigo son falsos.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but lavished are the kisses of an enemy.
7 El hombre completo no tiene utilidad para la miel, pero para el hombre que necesita alimento, todo lo amargo es dulce.
The surfeited soul, trampleth upon droppings from the comb, but, to the hungry soul, every bitter thing, is sweet.
8 Como un pájaro que vaga desde el lugar de sus huevos, es hombre que vagabundea del lugar donde nació.
As a bird wandering from her nest, so, is a man wandering from his place.
9 El aceite y el perfume alegran el corazón, y la sabia sugerencia de un amigo es dulce para el alma.
Oil and perfume, rejoice the heart, the sweetness of one’s friend, more than fragrant wood.
10 No renuncies a tu amigo y al amigo de tu padre; y no vayas a la casa de tu hermano en el día de tu problema: es mejor que un vecino esté cerca que un hermano que esté lejos.
Thine own friend and thy father’s friend, do not thou forsake; but, the house of thy brother, do not enter, in thy day of calamity, Better a neighbour near, than a brother far off.
11 Hijo mío, sé sabio y haz que mi corazón se alegre, así podré dar una respuesta al que me avergüenza.
Be wise, my son, and rejoice my heart, that I may answer him that reproacheth me in a matter.
12 El hombre prudente ve el mal y se refugia: los simples van directos y se meten en problemas.
A prudent man, seeth calamity—he hideth himself, the simple, pass on—they suffer.
13 Toma como prenda la ropa de un hombre si él se hace fiador de un hombre extraño, y haz una promesa de él que da su palabra para los hombres extraños.
Take a man’s garment when he hath become pledge for a stranger, then, for a female unknown, accept him as surety.
14 El que da la bendición a su amigo a gran voz, levantándose temprano en la mañana, lo pondrá en su cuenta como una maldición.
He that blesseth his friend, with a loud voice, in the morning early, a reproach, shall it be reckoned to him.
15 Como una caída interminable en un día de lluvia es una mujer de lengua amargada.
A continuous dripping on a day of downpour, and a contentious wife, are alike:
16 El que mantiene en secreto el secreto de su amigo, obtendrá un nombre para la buena fe.
He that hideth her, hideth the wind, and, perfume, his right hand may proclaim.
17 El hierro afila el hierro; entonces un hombre afila a otro hombre.
Let, iron, by iron, become sharp, and let, a man, sharpen the face of his friend.
18 El que guarda una higuera tendrá su fruto; y el sirviente que espera a su amo será honrado.
He that guardeth the fig-tree, shall eat the fruit thereof, and, he that watcheth over his master, shall be honoured.
19 Como el rostro que mira la cara en el agua, así son los corazones de los hombres unos con los otros.
As in water, face [answereth] to face, so, the heart of man to man.
20 El inframundo y Abaddón nunca están llenos, y los ojos del hombre nunca tienen suficiente. (Sheol h7585)
Hades and destruction, are not satisfied, and, the eyes of a man, are not satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 La olla de calefacción es para la plata y el horno de fuego para él oro, y un hombre se mide por lo que es alabado.
Fining pot for silver, and crucible for gold, and, a man, [is to be tried] by what he praiseth.
22 Aunque un hombre insensato sea aplastado con un martillo en una vasija de grano molido, aún así no se apartará de él su insensatez.
Though thou pound a fool in a mortar, amidst grain, with a pestle, his folly, will not depart from him.
23 Ten conocimiento sobre la condición de tus ovejas, cuidando mucho de tus rebaños;
Note well, the appearance of thy flock, apply thy mind to thy herds;
24 Porque la riqueza no es para siempre, y el dinero no dura para todas las generaciones.
For, not age-abiding, are riches, nor is the diadem, from generation to generation: —
25 Aparece el pasto y se ve la hierba joven, y entran las plantas de la montaña.
The grass, is taken away, and the young shoot, showeth itself, and the herbage of the mountains, is gathered;
26 Los corderos son para tu ropa, y los machos cabríos dan el valor de un campo:
There are, lambs, for thy clothing, and, for the price of thy field, there are he-goats;
27 Habrá leche de cabra suficiente para tu alimento, y para el sostén de tus siervas.
With, enough goats-milk, for thy food—for the food of thy household, and, a maintenance, for thy maidens.
