Proverbios 21
1 El corazón del rey en las manos del Señor es como las corrientes de agua, y por él se vuelve en cualquier dirección a su placer.
Like brooks of water is a king's heart in the hand of the Lord: whithersoever it pleaseth him doth he turn it.
2 Todo el camino de un hombre parece correcto para sí mismo, pero el Señor es el que prueba los corazones.
Every way of a man is straight in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the hearts.
3 Hacer lo correcto y verdadero es más agradable para el Señor que una ofrenda.
To exercise righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
4 Una mirada alta y un corazón de orgullo, los pensamientos del malvado es el pecado.
Haughtiness of the eyes, and an immoderate heart, are the sinful field of the wicked.
5 Los propósitos bien calculados del hombre tienen un resultado solo en ganancia; pero alguien que es demasiado rápido y a la ligera sólo llegará a pobreza.
The plans of the diligent tend only to plenty; but every hasty man is [destined] only to want.
6 El que obtiene riquezas con lengua falsa, va tras lo que es solo un aliento fugaz, y busca la muerte.
The getting of treasures by a tongue of falsehood is like the fleeting breath of those that seek death.
7 Por sus actos violentos, los malvados serán apartados, porque no tienen ningún deseo de hacer lo correcto.
The robbery of the wicked will drag them away; because they refuse to execute justice.
8 Torcido es el camino del que está lleno de crimen; pero en cuanto a aquel cuyo corazón está limpio, su trabajo es recto.
Perverse is the way of the man that is estranged [from goodness]; but as for the pure, his work is upright.
9 Es mejor vivir en un ángulo de la parte superior de la casa, que con una mujer de lengua amarga en una casa amplia.
It is better to dwell in a corner of a roof, than with a quarrelsome woman in a roomy house.
10 El deseo del malhechor está fijado en el mal: no tiene ningún sentimiento amable hacia su prójimo.
The soul of the wicked longeth for evil: his neighbor findeth no grace in his eyes.
11 Cuando el hombre de orgullo sufre castigo, el hombre simple obtiene sabiduría; y al observar al sabio, obtiene conocimiento.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is taught intelligence, he receiveth knowledge.
12 El recto, observa la casa del malhechor, permite que los pecadores sean derrocados para su destrucción.
The righteous regardeth attentively the house of the wicked; [but God] overturneth the wicked into unhappiness.
13 Aquel cuyos oídos se detienen al grito de los pobres, él mismo no recibirá respuesta a su grito de ayuda.
Whoso stoppeth his ears against the cry of the poor, he also will cry himself, but shall not be answered.
14 Por una ofrenda secreta se aparta la ira, y el calor de los sentimientos de enojo por el dinero en los pliegues de la túnica.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger, and a bribe in the bosom, strong fury.
15 Es un placer para el hombre bueno hacer lo correcto, pero es destrucción para los trabajadores del mal.
It is joy to the righteous to execute justice; but it is a terror to wrong-doers.
16 El vagabundo del camino del conocimiento tendrá su lugar de descanso entre los muertos.
The man that wandereth astray out of the way of intelligence shall rest in the assembly of the departed.
17 El amante del placer será un hombre pobre: el amante del vino y el aceite no obtendrá riqueza.
He that loveth pleasure will be a man of want: he that loveth wine and oil will not become rich.
18 El malhechor será dado como precio por la vida del hombre bueno, y el trabajador del engaño en el lugar del recto.
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the treacherous shall be put in the stead of the upright.
19 Es mejor vivir en él desierto, que con una mujer de lengua amargada y enojada.
It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a quarrelsome and vexatious woman.
20 Hay una tienda de gran valor en la casa de los sabios, pero es desperdiciada por el hombre necio.
There are a desirable treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man will swallow it up.
21 El que sigue la justicia y la misericordia, obtendrá la vida, la justicia y la honra.
He that pursueth righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.
22 Un hombre sabio sube a la ciudad de los fuertes, y vence su fortaleza en la cual ponen su fe.
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength in which they trusted.
23 El que vela sobre su boca y su lengua, previene su alma.
Whoso guardeth his mouth and his tongue guardeth his soul against distresses.
24 El hombre de orgullo, pedante, es llamado; escarnecedor, él está actuando en un arrebato de orgullo.
The presumptuous and proud, scorner is his name, dealeth in the wrath of presumption.
25 El deseo del que odia el trabajo es muerte para él, porque sus manos no harán ningún trabajo.
The longing of the slothful will kill him; for his hands refuse to labor.
26 Todo el día el pecador va tras su deseo; pero el hombre recto da libremente, sin guardar nada.
All the day he feeleth a great longing; but the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.
27 La ofrenda de los malvados es repugnante: ¡cuánto más cuando la dan con un mal propósito!
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a sinful purpose?
28 Un testigo falso será cortado; pero él que escucha, siempre podrá responder.
A lying witness shall perish; but the man that is obedient [to the law] can speak for ever.
29 El malvado hace que su cara sea dura, pero en cuanto al recto, él piensa en su camino.
A wicked man showeth impudence in his face; but as for the upright, he will consider well his way.
30 La sabiduría, el conocimiento y las sabias sugerencias no sirven para nada contra el Señor.
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
31 El caballo está listo para el día de la guerra, pero el poder para vencer es del Señor.
The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but with the Lord is the victory.
