Proverbios 20
1 El vino hace tontos a los hombres, y la bebida fuerte hace que los hombres lleguen a los golpes; y quien entra en error por esto no es sabio.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And he that reeleth with it is not wise.
2 La ira de un rey es como el fuerte grito de un león; el que lo enoja hace lo malo contra sí mismo.
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion; He who provoketh him sinneth against himself.
3 Es un honor para un hombre evitar pelear, pero los tontos siempre están en guerra.
It is an honor to a man to cease from strife; Bur every fool rusheth into it.
4 El que odia el trabajo no ara su arado debido al invierno; entonces, en el momento de cortar el grano, él estará pidiendo comida y no obtendrá nada.
The sluggard will not plough by reason of the cold; Therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 El propósito en el corazón de un hombre es como aguas profundas, pero un hombre con buen sentido lo sacará.
A design in the heart of a man is like deep waters; But a man of understanding draweth it out.
6 La mayoría de los hombres no ocultan sus actos bondadosos, pero ¿dónde se puede ver a un hombre de buena fe?
Many will proclaim their own kindness; But a faithful man who can find?
7 Un hombre recto continúa con su justicia: ¡Felices son sus hijos después de él!
He who walketh in his integrity is a righteous man; Happy will be his children after him!
8 Un rey en el tribunal juzga todo el mal con sus ojos.
The king, sitting upon the throne of judgment, Scattereth with his eyes all the wicked like chaff.
9 ¿Quién puede decir: Yo he limpiado mi corazón, estoy libre de mi pecado?
Who can say, “I have kept my heart clean; I am free from my sin?”
10 Pesas desiguales y medidas desiguales, todos son repugnantes para el Señor.
Divers weights and divers measures, —Both of them are an abomination to the LORD.
11 Incluso un niño puede ser juzgado por sus obras, si su trabajo es libre de pecado y si es correcto.
Even in childhood one maketh himself known by his doings, Whether his actions will be pure and right.
12 El oído que oye y el ojo que ve son igualmente obra del Señor.
The ear that heareth, and the eye that seeth, —The LORD made them both.
13 No seas amante del sueño, o llegarás a ser pobre: mantén tus ojos abiertos, y tendrás suficiente pan.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; Open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14 Malo, muy malo, dice él que está dando dinero por bienes; pero cuando ha seguido su camino, deja en claro su orgullo por lo que compró.
“Bad! bad!” saith the buyer; But when he hath gone his way, then he boasteth.
15 Hay oro y una tienda de corales, pero los labios del conocimiento son una joya de gran precio.
There is gold and abundance of pearls; But the lips of knowledge are a precious vase.
16 Toma prenda de un hombre si se hace responsable de un hombre extraño, y toma promesa de él que da su palabra por hombres extraños.
Take his garment who is surety for another; Yea, take a pledge of him who is bound for a stranger.
17 El pan de engaño es dulce para el hombre; pero después, su boca estará llena de arena.
The bread of falsehood is sweet to a man; But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Todo propósito se lleva a cabo mediante la ayuda sabia: y guiando sabiamente la guerra.
Purposes are established by counsel; Therefore with good advice make war.
19 El que habla acerca de los negocios de los demás revela secretos: así que no tengas nada que ver con el que tiene los labios abiertos de par en par.
He who goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; Therefore associate not with him who keepeth open his lips.
20 Si alguno maldice a su padre o a su madre, su luz se apagará en la noche más negra.
Whoso curseth his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in midnight darkness.
21 Una herencia se puede obtener rápidamente al principio, pero el final no será una bendición.
A possession may be gotten hastily in the beginning, But in the end it will not be blessed.
22 No digas: Daré castigo por el mal: sigue esperando al Señor, y él será tu salvador.
Say not thou, “I will repay evil;” Wait on the LORD, and he will help thee.
23 Las pesas desiguales son repugnantes para el Señor, y las escalas falsas no son buenas.
Divers weights are an abomination to the LORD, And a false balance is not good.
24 Los pasos de un hombre son del Señor; ¿cómo puede entonces un hombre tener conocimiento de su camino?
A man's steps are from the LORD; How, then, can a man understand his way?
25 Es un peligro para un hombre decir sin pensar, es santo y, después de tomar su juramento, cuestionarse si es necesario guardarlo.
It is a snare to a man to utter a vow rashly, And after vows to consider.
26 Un rey sabio echa a los malhechores y hace que su maldad vuelva a ellos.
A wise king scattereth the wicked like chaff, And bringeth over them the wheel.
27 El Señor vela por el espíritu del hombre, buscando en todas las partes más profundas del cuerpo.
The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Which searcheth all the inner chambers of his body.
28 La misericordia y la buena fe protegen al rey, y la sede de su poder se basa en actos rectos.
Mercy and truth preserve the king; Yea, his throne is upholden by mercy.
29 La gloria de los jóvenes es su fuerza, y el honor de los viejos es su canas.
The glory of young men is their strength, And the beauty of old men is the gray head.
30 Por las heridas de la vara, el mal se va, y los golpes limpian las partes más profundas del cuerpo.
Wounding stripes are the remedy for a bad man; Yea, stripes which reach to the inner chambers of the body.
