< Proverbios 12 >
1 Un amante del entrenamiento es un amante del conocimiento; pero un enemigo de la enseñanza es como una bestia.
Those who want to know [what is right to do] want to be (disciplined/corrected) when they do what is wrong; it is foolish to not want to be (corrected/told that what you did is wrong).
2 Un hombre bueno tiene gracia en los ojos del Señor; pero el hombre de los designios del mal recibe el castigo de él.
Yahweh is pleased with good people, but he condemns those who plan to harm [others].
3 Ningún hombre se salvará con maldad; pero la raíz de los hombres rectos nunca será movida.
People do not become secure/safe by doing what is wicked; righteous [people] will be very safe and secure [LIT] like [MET] a tree that has deep roots.
4 Una mujer de virtud es una corona para su esposo; pero ella, cuyo comportamiento es motivo de vergüenza, es como una enfermedad debilitante en sus huesos.
A good wife is one who causes her husband to be greatly honored, but a wife who does things that cause her husband to be ashamed [will destroy him] like [SIM] cancer [destroys] his bones.
5 Los propósitos de los hombres rectos son correctos, pero los designios de los malhechores son engaños.
What righteous [people] want to do is [to treat people] fairly; what wicked [people] want to do is to deceive people.
6 Las palabras de los pecadores son para destrucción; pero la boca de los hombres rectos es su salvación.
What wicked [people] say is like a trap [MET] that kills [MTY] people [who pass by], but what righteous [people] say [MTY] rescues those whom [wicked people threaten to harm].
7 Los malvados son trastornados y nunca más vueltos a ver, pero la casa de los hombres rectos conservará su lugar.
Wicked [people] will die [before they become old and we will see] them no more, but righteous people will live [for many years] and have many descendants.
8 Un hombre será alabado en la medida de su sabiduría, pero un hombre equivocado será menospreciado.
[People will] praise those who have good sense, but [people will] despise those (who are always thinking about doing evil things/whose thinking is twisted).
9 El que está en posición baja y tiene un siervo, es mejor que uno que tiene una alta opinión de sí mismo y necesita pan.
It is better to be a humble/ordinary person who has only one servant than to think that you are very important while you have nothing to eat.
10 Un hombre recto ha pensado en la vida de su bestia, pero los corazones de los malvados son crueles.
Righteous people take care of their domestic animals, but wicked people act cruelly [toward their animals].
11 Al que trabaja en su tierra no le faltará el pan; pero el que persigue a los hombres necios no tiene sentido.
Farmers who work hard in their fields will [produce good crops] that will give them plenty to eat, but those who waste their time working on worthless projects are foolish.
12 El lugar de descanso del pecador vendrá a la destrucción, pero la raíz de los hombres rectos será para siempre.
Wicked [people] desire to take away what [other] evil people have, but [Yahweh] enables righteous/godly [people] to be steadfast and productive [MET].
13 En el pecado de los labios hay una red que toma al pecador, pero el hombre recto saldrá de la angustia.
Evil people are trapped by the evil things that they say [MTY], but righteous [people] escape from trouble.
14 Del fruto de su boca, un hombre tendrá buena comida en toda su plenitud, y el trabajo de las manos de un hombre será recompensado.
People are rewarded for [the good things] that they say [to others], and people are [also] rewarded for the good work that they do [MTY].
15 El camino del hombre tonto parece derecho para él? pero el sabio escucha sugerencias.
Foolish people [always] think that what they are doing is right; wise people heed [other people when they give them good] advice.
16 El hombre necio deja ver públicamente su problema, pero un hombre prudente mantiene en secreto la vergüenza.
Foolish people quickly become angry when someone does something that they don’t like; but those who have good sense ignore it when others insult them.
17 Él que expresa palabras verdaderas da conocimiento de rectitud; pero un testigo falso revela engaño.
[In the courtroom], honest people say what is true, but untruthful/dishonest people tell [nothing but] lies.
18 Hay algunos cuya charla descontrolada es como las heridas de una espada, pero la lengua del sabio hace que uno vuelva a estar bien.
What some people say [hurts people badly], as much as [SIM] a sword can; but what wise [people] say (heals [others’ souls]/comforts others).
19 Los labios verdaderos son seguros para siempre; pero una lengua falsa es solo por un minuto.
When people tell [MTY] lies, others soon realize that what they said is not true [IDM]; but when people say what is true, others will remember that forever.
20 El engaño está en el corazón de aquellos cuyos designios son malos; pero para aquellos que se proponen la paz hay alegría.
Those who plan to do what is evil are always wanting to deceive [others], but things will go well for those who plan [to do] good things.
21 No habrá problemas para los hombres rectos, sino que los pecadores se llenarán de maldad.
Bad things [usually] [HYP] do not happen to righteous [people], but wicked [people] always have troubles.
22 Los labios falsos son odiados por el Señor, pero aquellos cuyos actos son verdaderos son su deleite.
Yahweh detests those [MTY] who tell lies, but he is delighted with those who faithfully do what they promise that they will do.
23 Un hombre prudente retiene su conocimiento; pero el corazón de los hombres necios deja en claro sus tontos pensamientos.
Those with good sense do not reveal [all] that they know; foolish people show [clearly] by what they say that they (are ignorant/have not learned much).
24 La mano del obrero listo tendrá autoridad, pero el que es lento en su trabajo será puesto a trabajo forzado.
Those [SYN] who work hard become rulers [of others]; those who are lazy become slaves [of others.]
25 La angustia en el corazón de un hombre lo hace pesado, pero una buena palabra lo alegra.
When people are anxious/worried, they become depressed/dejected, but when others speak kindly to them, it causes them to be cheerful again.
26 El hombre recto es una guía para su prójimo, pero el camino de los malvados es una causa de error para ellos.
Godly/Righteous people try to [give good advice to] their friends (OR, try to make friends with others), but the manner in which wicked [people] live misleads their friends.
27 El que es lento en su trabajo, no va en busca de comida; pero el trabajador listo obtiene mucha riqueza.
Lazy people do not even [cook the meat of] the animals that they catch/kill, but those who work hard will acquire (OR, are like) a valuable treasure.
28 En el camino de la justicia está la vida, pero el camino del malhechor va a la muerte.
Those who (live righteously/continually do what is right) are [walking] on the road to a long life; (it is not a road to death/they will not die when they are still young).
