Números 35
1 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés en las llanuras de Moab junto al Jordán en Jericó:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,
2 Da órdenes a los hijos de Israel de darles a los levitas, de la herencia que les pertenece, pueblos para ellos mismos, con tierras en las afueras de los pueblos.
Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and an open space for the cities round about them shall ye give [also] unto the Levites.
3 Estas ciudades serán sus lugares de habitación, con tierra alrededor de ellos para su ganado y su alimento y todas sus bestias,
And the cities shall serve them to dwell in; and their open spaces shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their requirements.
4 Extendiéndose desde la muralla de las ciudades a una distancia de mil codos a lo largo.
And the open spaces of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
5 La medida de este espacio de tierra será de dos mil codos fuera de la ciudad en el este, y dos mil codos en el sur y en el oeste y en el norte, la ciudad está en el centro. Este espacio será a las afueras de sus pueblos.
And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the midst: this shall be to them the open spaces of the cities.
6 Y de los pueblos que les das a los levitas serán seis pueblos serán de refugio para los homicidas puedan huir; y además tienes que darles cuarenta y dos pueblos.
And the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall appoint that the manslayer may flee thither; and in addition to them shall ye give forty and two cities.
7 Se darán cuarenta y ocho pueblos a los levitas, todos con tierra alrededor de ellos.
All the cities which ye shall [thus] give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities, they with their open spaces.
8 Y estas ciudades deben ser sacadas del patrimonio de los hijos de Israel, tomando el mayor número de aquellos que tienen mucho, y un número menor de los que tienen poco: todos, en la medida de su patrimonio, Es dar de su propiedad a los levitas.
And the cities which ye shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the tribe that hath many shall ye give many; but from the one that hath few shall ye give few: every one according to its inheritance which it may inherit shall give of its cities unto the Levites.
9 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses. saying,
10 Di a los hijos de Israel, cuando hayas pasado el Jordán a la tierra de Canaán;
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye have passed over the Jordan into the land of Canaan:
11 Luego, deje que ciertas ciudades se marquen como ciudades de refugio para que cualquiera que tome la vida de otro por error puede irse en fuga.
Then ye shall appoint unto yourselves proper cities, that they be cities of refuge for you; and thither shall flee the manslayer who killeth any person at unawares.
12 En estas ciudades pueden estar a salvo del vengador, de quien tiene el derecho de castigo; para que la muerte no alcance al que toma la vida hasta que haya sido juzgado por la reunión de la gente.
And these cities shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he have stood before the congregation for trial.
13 Seis de los pueblos que das serán lugares de refugio;
And the cities which ye shall give, shall be six cities of refuge unto you;
14 Tres al otro lado del Jordán y tres en la tierra de Canaán, para ser lugares de refugio.
Three of these cities shall ye give on this side of the Jordan, and the three other cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan: cities of refuge shall they be.
15 Para los hijos de Israel y para el hombre de otro país que vive entre ellos, estos seis pueblos deben ser lugares seguros, donde cualquiera que cause la muerte de otro por error puede irse en fuga.
For the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them, shall these six cities be for a refuge: that every one may flee thither that killeth any person at unawares.
16 Pero si un hombre le da un golpe a otro hombre con un instrumento de hierro, causando su muerte, él es un homicida; ciertamente será ejecutado.
And if he have smitten him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
17 O si él le da un golpe con una piedra en la mano, causando su muerte, él es homicida y será ejecutado.
And if he have smitten him with a stone which one can take in the hand, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
18 O si le dio golpes con un instrumento de madera en las manos, causando su muerte, es un homicida y será ejecutado.
Or if he have smitten him with an article of wood, which one can take in the hand, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
19 El que tiene derecho a vengar la sangre, puede dar muerte al que toma la vida cuando se encuentra cara a cara con él.
The avenger of the blood himself shall slay the murderer; when he meeteth him, shall he slay him.
20 Si en su odio lo atravesó con una espada, o esperándolo secretamente, le envió una lanza o una piedra, causándole la muerte;
And if he push against him out of hatred, or he have hurled at him [any thing] by lying in wait, that he die;
21 O en el odio le dio golpes con la mano, causando la muerte; el que dio el golpe mortal será condenado a muerte; es un homicida: el que tiene el derecho de vengar la sangre puede matar al que toma la vida cuando se encuentra cara a cara con él.
Or if in enmity he have smitten him with his hand, that he died, he that smote him shall surely be put to death; [for] he is a murderer: the avenger of the blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth with him.
22 Pero si un hombre ha dado una herida a otro de repente y no con odio, o sin asechanzas, ha enviado algo contra él.
But if he have pushed against him accidentally without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without lying in wait,
23 O le ha dado un golpe con una piedra, sin verlo, causando su muerte, aunque no tenía nada contra él ni deseo de hacerle maldad:
Or with any stone wherewith a man may die, without seeing him, and he have let it fall upon him that he died; whereas he was not his enemy, and did not seek his harm:
24 Entonces, la reunión de la gente sea juez entre el hombre responsable de la muerte y el que tiene el derecho de vengar la sangre, actuando según estas reglas:
Then shall the congregation judge between the slayer and the avenger of the blood according to these institutions;
25 Deje que la gente mantenga al hombre responsable de la muerte a salvo de las manos de quien tiene el derecho de vengar la sangre, y envíelo de vuelta a su pueblo a la ciudad de refugio donde había ido en vuelo: allí lo dejará estar hasta La muerte del sumo sacerdote que fue ungido con el aceite santo.
And the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of the blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he had fled; and he shall abide in it until the death of the high-priest, who hath been anointed with the holy oil.
26 Pero si él homicida alguna vez sale de los muros de la ciudad segura donde había ido en vuelo,
But if the manslayer should at any time pass the boundary of the city of his refuge, whither he may have fled;
27 Y que él vengador, encontrándose con él fuera de las murallas de la ciudad, lo mata, no será responsable de su sangre:
And the avenger of the blood should find him beyond the boundary of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of the blood should kill the manslayer: he shall not be guilty of blood;
28 Porque le habían ordenado que se mantuviera dentro de la ciudad segura hasta la muerte del sumo sacerdote: pero después de la muerte del sumo sacerdote, el que toma la vida puede volver al lugar de su herencia.
Because in the city of his refuge shall be remain until the death of the high-priest; but after the death of the high-priest the manslayer may return unto the land of his possession.
29 Estas reglas deben ser tu guía para juzgar a través de todas tus generaciones dondequiera que estén viviendo.
And these things shall be unto you for a statute of justice throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
30 Cualquier persona que cause la muerte de otro debe ser ejecutada por la palabra de los testigos, pero la palabra de un testigo no es suficiente.
Whoever it be that killeth a person, according to the testimony of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
31 Además, no se puede dar un precio por la vida de quien ha quitado la vida y cuya recompensa correcta es la muerte: ciertamente debe ser condenado a muerte.
Moreover ye shall take no redemption money for the person of a murderer, who is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.
32 Y no se puede ofrecer ningún precio a uno que haya ido en vuelo a una ciudad de refugio, con el propósito de permitirle regresar a su lugar antes de la muerte del sumo sacerdote.
And ye shall take no redemption money for him that hath fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
33 Por lo tanto, no contamines la tierra en la que vives, porque esta sangre la mancilla, y no hay manera de liberarla de la sangre que ha venido sobre ella, sino sólo por la muerte de aquel que fue la causa de ello.
And ye shall not defile the land wherein ye are; for the blood it is which defileth the land: and no atonement can be made unto the land for the blood which hath been shed therein, except through the blood of him that hath shed it.
34 No contamines la tierra en la que viven y en medio de la cual viviré, porque yo, el Señor, estoy presente entre los hijos de Israel.
And ye shall not render unclean the land which ye inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the Lord dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.
