Números 32
1 Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad tenían gran cantidad de ganado: y cuando vieron que la tierra de Jazer y la tierra de Galaad era un buen lugar para el ganado;
Now the sons of Ruben and of Gad had many herds, and their substance in cattle was inestimable. And when they had seen that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were suitable for feeding animals,
2 Los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén vinieron y dijeron a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a los jefes de la reunión:
they went to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the multitude, and they said:
3 Atarot, y Dibón Jazer, y Nimra, y Hesbón, y Eleale, y Sebam, y Nebo, y Beon.
“Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
4 La tierra que el Señor entregó en manos de los hijos de Israel, es una tierra para el ganado, y tus siervos tienen ganado.
the land, which the Lord has struck in the sight of the sons of Israel, is a very fertile region for pasturing animals. And we, your servants, have very many cattle.
5 Y dijeron: Con tu aprobación, que esta tierra sea dada a tus siervos como su herencia: no nos lleves sobre el Jordán.
And so we beseech you, if we have found favor before you, that you give it to us, your subjects, as a possession, and that you not cause us cross the Jordan.”
6 Entonces Moisés dijo a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: ¿Van a ir tus hermanos a la guerra mientras descansan aquí?
And Moses answered them: “Should your brothers go to battle, while you sit here?
7 ¿Por qué desaniman a los hijos de Israel el deseo de ir a la tierra que el Señor les ha dado?
Why do you subvert the minds of the sons of Israel, so that they might not dare to cross into the place which the Lord will give to them?
8 Lo mismo hicieron tus padres, cuando los envié desde Cades-barnea para ver la tierra.
Did not your fathers act in the same way, when I sent them from Kadesh-Barnea to explore the land?
9 Porque cuando subieron al valle de Escol y vieron la tierra, vinieron y desanimaron a los hijos de Israel de ir a la tierra que el Señor les había dado.
And when they had gone all the way to the Valley of the Cluster of Grapes, having viewed the entire region, they subverted the hearts of the sons of Israel, so that they would not enter into the parts that the Lord gave to them.
10 Y en ese momento el Señor se enojó, e hizo un juramento, diciendo:
And being angry, the Lord swore an oath, saying:
11 En verdad, ninguno de los hombres de veinte años o más que salieron de Egipto verá la tierra que juré a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; porque no me han sido fieles con todo su corazón;
‘These men, who ascended out of Egypt, from twenty years and above, will not see the land, which I have promised under an oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For they were not willing to follow me,
12 Pero solo Caleb, el hijo de Jefone, él cenezeo, y Josué, el hijo de Nun: porque han sido fieles al Señor.
except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; these have fulfilled my will.’
13 Entonces el SEÑOR se enojó con Israel, y los hizo vagar por las tierras del desierto por cuarenta años? hasta que toda aquella generación que había hecho el mal a los ojos del Señor estuviera muerta.
And the Lord, being angry against Israel, led them in a course through the desert for forty years, until the entire generation, which had done evil in his sight, was consumed.
14 Y ahora has venido a tomar el lugar de tus padres, otra generación de pecadores, aumentando la ira de Jehová contra Israel.
And behold,” he said, “you have risen up in the place of your fathers, the offshoots and the nurslings of sinful men, in order to augment the fury of the Lord against Israel.
15 Porque si te apartas de él, los enviará a vagar de nuevo por las tierras baldías; y tú serás la causa de la destrucción de todo este pueblo.
But if you are not willing to follow him, he will leave the people behind in the wilderness, and you will have been the cause of all our deaths.”
16 Entonces vinieron a él y le dijeron: Aquí haremos lugares seguros para nuestro ganado y pueblos para nuestros pequeños;
But approaching closer, they said: “We will manufacture sheep pens and cattle stalls, as well as fortified cities, for our little ones.
17 Pero nosotros mismos estaremos preparados para ir delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que los hayamos llevado a su lugar, pero nuestros pequeños estarán a salvo en las ciudades amuralladas contra la gente de la tierra.
But we ourselves will continue on, armed and girded for battle, before the sons of Israel, until we lead them to their places. Our little ones, and whatever we may be able to have, shall be in walled cities, because of the treachery of the inhabitants.
18 No regresaremos a nuestras casas hasta que cada uno de los hijos de Israel haya entrado en su herencia.
We will not return to our houses, even until the sons of Israel may possess their inheritance.
19 Porque no tendremos nuestra herencia con ellos al otro lado del Jordán y hacia adelante; porque nuestra herencia nos ha llegado de este lado del Jordán al este.
Neither will we seek anything across the Jordan, because we already have our possession on its eastern side.”
20 Entonces Moisés les dijo: Si quieren hacer esto, armándose para ir ante el Señor a la guerra,
And Moses said to them: “If you accomplish what you have promised, you may go out, equipped for battle, before the Lord.
21 Todo hombre armado de ustedes que cruza el Jordán ante el Señor hasta que haya vencido y enviado en fuga a todos los que están contra él.
And let every fighting man cross over the Jordan, until the Lord overthrows his enemies,
22 Y la tierra está bajo el gobierno del Señor; después de eso, puedes regresar, sin haber hecho nada malo al Señor ni a Israel; y esta tierra será tuya para tu herencia delante del Señor.
and all the land is subjected to him. Then you will be guiltless with the Lord and with Israel, and you will obtain the regions which you desire before the Lord.
23 Pero si no haces esto, entonces eres pecador contra el Señor; y puedes estar seguro de que tu pecado tendrá su recompensa.
But if you do not do what you have said, no one could doubt that you will have sinned against God. And know this: your sin shall overtake you.
24 Así que empieza a trabajar construyendo tus ciudades para tus pequeños y lugares seguros para tus ovejas; y haz lo que has dicho.
Therefore, build cities for your little ones, and pens and stables for your sheep and cattle; and fulfill what you have promised.”
25 Y los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén dijeron a Moisés: Tus siervos harán lo que mi señor dice.
And the sons of Gad and of Ruben said to Moses: “We are your servants, we shall do what you, our ruler, orders.
26 Nuestros pequeños, nuestras esposas, y nuestros rebaños, y todo nuestro ganado, estarán allí en los pueblos de Galaad;
We will leave behind our little ones, and our wives, and the sheep and cattle, in the cities of Gilead.
27 Pero sus siervos pasarán, cada uno armado para la guerra, delante del Señor para la lucha, como dice mi señor.
And we, your servants, all well-equipped, will go forth to battle, just as you, our ruler, has spoken.”
28 Entonces Moisés dio órdenes acerca de ellos al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de familia de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.
Therefore, Moses instructed Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the princes of the families throughout the tribes of Israel, and he said to them:
29 Y Moisés les dijo: Si los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén van con ustedes por el Jordán, cada uno armado para la lucha delante del Señor, y toda la tierra es entregada en sus manos, entonces que la tengan. la tierra de Galaad para una herencia;
“If the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben cross over the Jordan with you, all armed for war before the Lord, and if the land becomes subject to you, give them Gilead as a possession.
30 Pero si no van armados contigo, tendrán que llevar su herencia contigo en la tierra de Canaán.
But if they are not willing to cross with you, armed, into the land of Canaan, then let them receive places among you for their dwellings.”
31 Entonces los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén dijeron: Como él Señor ha dicho a tus siervos, así haremos nosotros.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben responded: “Just as the Lord has spoken to his servants, so shall we do.
32 Iremos armados delante del Señor a la tierra de Canaán, y nos quedaremos con nuestra herencia en este lado del Jordán.
We will go forth, armed, before the Lord into the land of Canaan; and we acknowledge that we have already received our possession across the Jordan.”
33 Entonces Moisés les dio a los hijos de Gad, a los hijos de Rubén, y a la media tribu de Manasés, hijo de José, al reino de Sehón, rey de los amorreos y a Og, rey de Basán, toda la tierra con sus pueblos y el país que los rodea.
And so, Moses gave to the sons of Gad and of Ruben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, and their land with its surrounding cities.
34 Y los hijos de Gad fueron los constructores de Dibón, Atarot y Aroer.
Therefore, the sons of Gad built up Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 Y Atarot-sofán, Jazer y Jogbeha;
and Atroth and Shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,
36 Y Bet-nimra y Bet-arán: ciudades amuralladas y lugares cerrados para las ovejas.
and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, as fortified cities with pens for their cattle.
37 Y los hijos de Rubén fueron los constructores de Hesbón, Eleale y Quiriataim;
Yet truly, the sons of Ruben built up Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,
38 Y Nebo y Baal-meón (sus nombres han sido cambiados) y Sibma: y dieron otros nombres a las ciudades que hicieron.
and Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names having been changed) and Sibmah, appointing names for the cities which they had built.
39 Y los hijos de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, fueron a Galaad y la tomaron, expulsando a los amorreos que vivían allí.
Moreover, the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, continued on within Gilead, and they devastated it, putting to death its inhabitant, the Amorite.
40 Entonces Moisés dio Galaad a Maquir, hijo de Manasés; y lo hizo su lugar de vida.
Therefore, Moses gave the land of Gilead to Machir, the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it.
41 Y Jair, hijo de Manasés, fue y tomó las ciudades de Galaad, llamándoles Havot-Jair.
But Jair, the son of Manasseh, went out and occupied its villages, which he called Havoth Jair, that is, the Villages of Jair.
42 Y Noba fue y tomó a Kenat y sus pueblos pequeños, y la llamó Noba, por su nombre.
Likewise, Nobah went forth and captured Kenath with its villages. And he called it by his own name, Nobah.
