Números 22
1 Entonces los hijos de Israel, caminando, pusieron sus tiendas en las tierras bajas de Moab, al otro lado del Jordán, en Jericó.
After, the children of Israel departed and pitched in the plaine of Moab on the other side of Iorden from Iericho.
2 Balac, hijo de Zipor, vio lo que Israel había hecho a los amorreos.
Now Balak the sonne of Zippor sawe all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
3 Y en Moab había gran temor de la gente, porque su número era muy grande: y el sentimiento de Moab era amargo contra los hijos de Israel.
And the Moabites were sore afraide of the people, because they were many, and Moab fretted against the children of Israel.
4 Entonces Moab dijo a los hombres responsables de Madián: Está claro que esta gran gente será la destrucción de todo lo que nos rodea, haciendo de nosotros una comida como lo hace el buey de la hierba del campo. En ese momento Balac, el hijo de Zipor, era rey de Moab.
Therfore Moab said vnto the Elders of Midian, Nowe shall this multitude licke vp all that are round about vs, as an oxe licketh vp ye grasse of the fielde: and Balak the sonne of Zippor was King of the Moabites at that time.
5 Entonces envió a los hombres a Balaam, hijo de Beor, en Petor, junto al río, en la tierra de los hijos de su pueblo, y le dijeron: Mira, ha salido de Egipto un pueblo que cubre todo el rostro del tierra, y han puesto sus tiendas frente a mí:
Hee sent messengers therefore vnto Balaam the sonne of Beor to Pethor (which is by the riuer of the lande of the children of his folke) to call him, saying, Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt, which couer the face of the earth, and lye ouer against me.
6 Vengan ahora, en respuesta a mi oración, y pongan una maldición sobre esta gente, porque son más grandes que yo: y entonces puedo ser lo suficientemente fuerte para vencerlos y enviarlos fuera de la tierra: porque está claro ese bien le llega al que tiene tu bendición, pero el que pones tu maldición está maldito.
Come now therefore, I pray thee, and curse me this people (for they are stronger then I) so it may be that I shall be able to smite them, and to driue them out of the land: for I knowe that hee, whome thou blessest, is blessed, and he whom thou cursest, shall be cursed.
7 Entonces los hombres responsables de Moab y Madián se fueron, tomando en sus manos las recompensas por el profeta; y vinieron a Balaam y le dijeron lo que Balac les había ordenado que dijeran.
And the Elders of Moab, and the Elders of Midian departed, hauing the reward of the soothsaying in their hande, and they came vnto Balaam, and tolde him the wordes of Balak.
8 Y él les dijo: descansa aquí esta noche, y te daré una respuesta después de escuchar lo que el Señor dice; Así que los jefes de Moab se quedaron allí con Balaam esa noche.
Who answered them, Tary here this night, and I will giue you an answere, as the Lord shall say vnto mee. So the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
9 Y vino Dios a Balaam y le dijo: ¿Quiénes son estos hombres que están contigo?
Then God came vnto Balaam, and sayde, What men are these with thee?
10 Y Balaam dijo a Dios: Balac, hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, me los envió, diciendo:
And Baalam said vnto God, Balak ye sonne of Zippor, king of Moab hath set vnto me, saying,
11 Mira, las personas que han salido de Egipto están cubriendo toda la tierra: ahora, maldice este pueblo, para que pueda hacerles la guerra y expulsarlos de la tierra.
Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt and couereth the face of the earth: come nowe, curse them for my sake: so it may be that I shalbe able to ouercome them in battell, and to driue them out.
12 Entonces Dios dijo a Balaam: No debes ir con ellos, ni maldecir a este pueblo, porque tiene mi bendición.
And God said vnto Balaam, Go not thou with them, neither curse the people, for they are blessed.
13 Por la mañana, Balaam se levantó y dijo a los jefes de Balac: Vuelve a tu tierra, porque el Señor no me dejará ir contigo.
And Balaam rose vp in the morning, and sayde vnto ye princes of Balak, Returne vnto your land: for the Lord hath refused to giue me leaue to go with you.
14 Entonces los jefes de Moab volvieron a Balac y dijeron: Balaam no vendrá con nosotros.
So the princes of Moab rose vp, and went vnto Balak, and sayd, Balaam hath refused to come with vs.
15 Entonces Balac envió más jefes, mayores en número y en mayor posición que los otros.
Balak yet sent againe moe princes, and more honourable then they.
16 Fueron a Balaam y dijeron: Balac, hijo de Zipor, dice: Nada te impida venir a mí.
Who came to Balaam, and sayde to him, Thus saith Balak the sonne of Zippor, Bee not thou staied, I pray thee, from comming vnto me.
17 Porque te daré un lugar de gran honor, y todo lo que me digas, lo haré; así que ven, en respuesta a mi oración, y pon una maldición sobre esta gente.
For I wil promote thee vnto great honour, and wil do whatsoeuer thou sayest vnto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
18 Pero Balaam, en respuesta; dijo a los siervos de Balac: Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y oro, no me sería posible hacer nada más ni menos que las órdenes del Señor mi Dios.
And Balaam answered, and sayde vnto the seruants of Balak, If Balak woulde giue me his house full of siluer and golde, I can not goe beyonde the worde of the Lord my God, to doe lesse or more.
19 Así que descansa aquí esta noche, hasta que sepa qué más me tiene que decir el Señor.
But nowe, I pray you, tary here this night, that I may wit, what the Lord will say vnto mee more.
20 Y esa noche, Dios vino a Balaam y le dijo: Si estos hombres han venido por ti, ve con ellos; pero haz sólo lo que yo te diga.
And God came vnto Balaam by night, and sayd vnto him, If the men come to call thee, rise vp, and goe with them: but onely what thing I say vnto thee, that shalt thou doe.
21 Entonces, en la mañana, Balaam se levantó y, ensilló su asno, fue con los jefes de Moab.
So Balaam rose vp early, and sadled his asse, and went with the princes of Moab.
22 Pero Dios se enfureció porque él fue, y el ángel del Señor tomó una posición en el camino para evitar que cumpliera su propósito. Iba montado en su asno, y sus dos sirvientes estaban con él.
And ye wrath of God was kindled, because he went: and the Angel of the Lord stood in the way to be against him, as he rode vpon his asse, and his two seruants were with him.
23 Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor esperando en el camino con su espada en la mano; y saliendo del camino, el asno entró en el campo; y Balaam azotó al asno para que volviera a la carretera.
And when the asse saw the Angel of the Lord stand in the way, and his sworde drawen in his hand, the asse turned out of the way and went into the field, but Balaam smote the asse, to turne her into the way.
24 Entonces el ángel del Señor tomó su posición en un camino estrecho a través de los viñas, con un muro en este lado y en él otro.
Againe the Angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyardes, hauing a wall on the one side, and a wall on the other.
25 Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor, y se acercó al muro, aplastando el pie de Balaam contra el muro; Y le dio más golpes.
And when the asse sawe the Angel of the Lord, she thrust her selfe vnto the wall, and dasht Balaams foote against the wall: wherefore hee smote her againe.
26 Entonces el ángel del Señor fue más allá, deteniéndose en un lugar estrecho donde no había espacio para girar a la derecha ni a la izquierda.
Then the Angel of the Lord went further, and stoode in a narowe place, where was no way to turne, either to the right hand, or to the left.
27 Y el asno vio al ángel del Señor y descendió a la tierra debajo de Balaam; y lleno de ira, Balaam le dio duros golpes con su vara.
And when the asse sawe the Angell of the Lord, she lay downe vnder Balaam: therefore Balaam was very wroth, and smote the asse with a staffe.
28 Entonces el Señor le dio al asno el poder de hablar y, abriendo la boca, le dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué te he hecho que me has dado golpes estas tres veces?
Then the Lord opened the mouth of the asse, and she saide vnto Balaam, What haue I done vnto thee, that thou hast smitten me nowe three times?
29 Y Balaam dijo al asno: Tú me has hecho parecer tonto: si solo tuviera una espada en la mano, te mataría.
And Balaam saide vnto the asse, Because thou hast mocked me: I woulde there were a sworde in mine hand, for nowe would I kill thee.
30 Y el asno le dijo a Balaam: ¿No soy tu asno sobre el que has andado toda tu vida hasta este día? ¿Y alguna vez te he hecho esto antes? Y él respondió: No.
And the asse saide vnto Balaam, Am not I thine asse, which thou hast ridden vpon since thy first time vnto this day? haue I vsed at any time to doe thus vnto thee? Who said, Nay.
31 Entonces él Señor abrió los ojos de Balaam, y vio al ángel del Señor en el camino con su espada en la mano; y descendió sobre su rostro a la tierra.
And the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sawe the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawen in his hande: then he bowed him selfe, and fell flat on his face.
32 Y el ángel del Señor le dijo: ¿Por qué le has dado a tu asno golpes estas tres veces? Mira, he salido contra ti para retenerte, porque tu propósito no es agradable para mí.
And the Angel of the Lord said vnto him, Wherefore hast thou nowe smitten thine asse three times? beholde, I came out to withstande thee, because thy way is not straight before me.
33 Y el asno me vio, girándose hacia un lado tres veces: si ella no hubiera ido a un lado, ciertamente te habría matado y habría mantenido a salvo.
But the asse sawe me, and turned from me now three times: for els, if she had not turned from me, surely I had euen nowe slaine thee, and saued her aliue.
34 Y Balaam dijo al ángel del Señor: He hecho algo malo, porque no vi que estabas en el camino contra mí; pero ahora, si es malo para ti, volveré.
Then Balaam saide vnto the Angel of the Lord, I haue sinned: for I wist not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore if it displease thee, I will turne home againe.
35 Entonces el ángel del Señor dijo a Balaam: Ve con los hombres; Pero di sólo lo que te doy para decir. Entonces Balaam siguió con los jefes de Balac.
But the Angel said vnto Balaam, Go with the men: but what I say vnto thee, that shalt thou speake. So Balaam went with ye princes of Balak.
36 Entonces Balac, al enterarse de que Balaam había venido, se dirigió a la ciudad principal de Moab, al borde del Arnón, en la parte más alejada de la tierra, con el propósito de reunirse con él.
And when Balak heard that Balaam came, he went out to meete him vnto a citie of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, euen in the vtmost coast.
37 Entonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¿No te envié pidiéndote con todo mi corazón que vinieras a mí? porque no viniste ¿No soy capaz de darte un lugar de honor?
Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, Did I not sende for thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not vnto me? am I not able in deede to promote thee vnto honour?
38 Entonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Ahora he venido a ti; ¿Pero tengo poder para decir algo? Solo lo que Dios pone en mi boca puedo decir.
And Balaam made answere vnto Balak, Lo, I am come vnto thee, and can I nowe say any thing at all? the worde that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speake.
39 Y Balaam fue con Balac a Quiriat-huzot.
So Balaam went with Balak, and they came vnto the citie of Huzoth.
40 Entonces Balac hizo ofrendas de bueyes y ovejas, y los envió a Balaam y a los jefes que estaban con él.
Then Balak offred bullockes, and sheepe, and sent thereof to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
41 Y en la mañana, Balac llevó a Balaam a los lugares altos de Baal, y desde allí pudo ver los límites exteriores del pueblo.
And on the morowe Balak tooke Balaam, and brought him vp into the hie places of Baal, that thence hee might see the vtmost part of the people.
