Números 17
1 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Di a los hijos de Israel que deben darte varas, una por cada uno de los jefes de la familia patriarcal, que hace doce varas; Que el nombre de cada uno sea puesto sobre su vara.
“Speak to the sons of Israel, and receive from each of them a rod by their kinships, from all the leaders of the tribes, twelve rods, and write the name of each one on his rod.
3 Y que el nombre de Aarón se ponga sobre la vara de Leví; porque habrá una vara para la cabeza de cada familia.
But the name of Aaron shall be for the tribe of Levi, and one rod separately shall contain all their families.
4 Y guárdalos en la tienda de reunión, delante del cofre del testimonio, donde yo me encuentro con ustedes.
And you shall place these in the tabernacle of the covenant before the testimony, where I will speak to you.
5 Y la vara de ese hombre que es escogido por mí para mí tendrá capullos; Así que cesarán las quejas que me hacen los hijos de Israel contra ustedes.
Whomever of these I will choose, his rod will germinate, and so shall I restrain the complaints of the sons of Israel before me, by which they murmur against you.”
6 Entonces Moisés dio estas órdenes a los hijos de Israel, y todos sus jefes le dieron varas, una por cada uno de los jefes de cada familia, que hacía doce varas, y la vara de Aarón estaba entre ellas.
And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel. And all the leaders gave him rods, one for each tribe. And there were twelve rods, aside from the rod of Aaron.
7 Y Moisés puso las varas delante del Señor en el tabernáculo de testimonio.
And when Moses had placed these before the Lord, in the tabernacle of the testimony,
8 Al día siguiente, Moisés entró en la Tienda del testimonio; y vio que la vara de Aarón, la vara de la casa de Leví, había echado brotes, y estaba cubierta de retoños, flores y frutos.
returning on the following day, he found that the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi, had germinated, and that the swelling buds had opened into flowers, which, spreading their petals, were formed into those of an almond tree.
9 Entonces Moisés sacó todas las varas de delante del Señor se las devolvió a los hijos de Israel; las vieron y cada uno tomó su vara.
Therefore, Moses brought out all the rods, from the sight of the Lord, to all the sons of Israel. And they saw, and each one received their rods.
10 Y el Señor le dijo a Moisés: Pon la varilla de Aarón de nuevo frente al cofre del testimonio, para que se la guarde como una señal contra este pueblo de corazón rebelde, para que puedas poner fin a sus quejas contra mí, y La muerte no pueda alcanzarlos.
And the Lord said to Moses: “Carry back the rod of Aaron into the tabernacle of the testimony, so that it may be kept there as a sign of the rebellion of the sons of Israel, and so that their complaints may be quieted before me, lest they die.”
11 Esto hizo Moisés: como el Señor dio órdenes, así lo hizo.
And Moses did just as the Lord had instructed.
12 Entonces los hijos de Israel dijeron a Moisés: En verdad, ha llegado la destrucción sobre nosotros; moriremos, todos moriremos.
Then the sons of Israel said to Moses: “Behold, we have been consumed; we have been ruined.
13 La muerte superará a todos los que se acerquen a la Tienda del Señor: ¿vamos todos a la destrucción?
Whoever approaches to the tabernacle of the Lord dies. Will we all be wiped away, even to total annihilation?”
