Números 13
1 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés:
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Envía a los hombres a explorar la tierra de Canaán, que estoy dando a los hijos de Israel; de cada tribu de sus padres enviaras un hombre, cada uno hombres de autoridad.
Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
3 Y Moisés los envió desde el desierto de Parán, como el Señor dio órdenes, todos ellos hombres que eran cabezas de los hijos de Israel.
And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
4 Y estos fueron sus nombres: de la tribu de Rubén, Samúa, el hijo de Zacur.
And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
5 De la tribu de Simeón, Safat, hijo de Hori.
Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.
6 De la tribu de Judá, Caleb, hijo de Jefone.
Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
7 De la tribu de Isacar, Igal, el hijo de José.
Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
8 De la tribu de Efraín, Oseas, hijo de Nun.
Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
9 De la tribu de Benjamín, Palti, el hijo de Rafú.
Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
10 De la tribu de Zabulón, Gadiel, el hijo de Sodi.
Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
11 De la tribu de José, que es de la familia de Manasés, Gadi, el hijo de Susi.
Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
12 De la tribu de Dan, Ammiel, el hijo de Gemali.
Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
13 De la tribu de Aser, Setur, el hijo de Micael.
Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.
14 De la tribu de Neftalí, Nahbi, el hijo de Vapsi.
Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.
15 De la tribu de Gad, Geuel, el hijo de Maqui.
Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
16 Estos son los nombres de los hombres que Moisés envió para conocer la tierra. Y dio Moisés a Oseas, hijo de Nun, el nombre de Josué.
These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
17 Entonces Moisés los envió a echar un vistazo a la tierra de Canaán y les dijo: Sube a Neguev y entra en la región montañosa.
And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, Go up this way southward, and go up to the mountain:
18 Y mira cómo es la tierra; y si las personas que viven en él son fuertes o débiles, pequeñas o grandes en número;
And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwell in it, whether they are strong or weak, few or many;
19 Y en qué clase de tierra viven, si es buena o mala; y cuáles son sus lugares de vida, tiendas de campaña o ciudades amuralladas;
And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
20 Y si la tierra es fértil o pobre, y si hay bosques o no. Y no tengan miedo, y regresa con algo del producto de la tierra. Ahora era el momento en que las primeras uvas estaban listas.
And what the land is, whether it is rich or barren, whether there is wood in it, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
21 Así que subieron y obtuvieron una vista de la tierra, desde el desierto de Zin hasta Rehob, en el camino a Hamat.
So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
22 Subieron al Neguev y llegaron a Hebrón; Ahimán y Sesai y Talmai, los hijos de Anac, vivían allí. (Ahora, el edificio de Hebrón tuvo lugar siete años antes que el de Zoán en Egipto).
And they went up by the south, and came to Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
23 Llegaron al valle de Escol, y cortando una rama de vid con sus uvas, dos de ellos la tomaron en una vara entre ellos; y tomaron algunas granadas e higos.
And they came to the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
24 Ese lugar fue nombrado valle de Escol por las uvas que los hijos de Israel tomaron de allí.
The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from there.
25 Al cabo de cuarenta días volvieron de ver la tierra.
And they returned from searching the land after forty days.
26 Y volvieron a Moisés, Aarón y todos los hijos de Israel, a Cades, en el desierto de Parán; y les dieron cuenta a ellos y a todo el pueblo y les mostraron el producto de la tierra.
And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them, and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
27 Y dijeron: Venimos de la tierra donde nos enviaste, y en verdad está fluyendo leche y miel: y aquí está algo del producto.
And they told him, and said, We came to the land where thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28 Pero la gente que vive en la tierra es fuerte, y los pueblos son amurallados y muy grandes; Además, vimos allí a los hijos de Anac.
Nevertheless the people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29 Y los amalecitas están en el sur; y los hititas y los jebuseos y los amorreos viven en la región montañosa; y los cananeos junto al mar y al lado del Jordán.
The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the banks of the Jordan.
30 Entonces Caleb hizo señas al pueblo para que se callara, y le dijeron a Moisés: Subamos de inmediato y tomemos esta tierra; porque somos capaces de superarlo.
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 Pero los hombres que habían ido con él dijeron: No podemos enfrentarnos a la gente, porque son más fuertes que nosotros.
But the men that went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 Y dieron a los hijos de Israel un mal reporte de la tierra que habían explorado, diciendo: Esta tierra la cual exploramos es una tierra que causa destrucción a los que viven en ella; Y todas las personas que vimos son hombres de un tamaño superior al común.
And they brought an bad report of the land which they had searched to the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have passed to search it, is a land that eateth up its inhabitants; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 Allí vimos a esos grandes hombres, los hijos de Anac, descendientes de Nefilim: y éramos como saltamontes, y ellos nos veían así también.
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, who come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
