Números 12
1 Miriam y Aarón dijeron murmuraron contra Moisés por la mujer etíope con quien estaba casado, porque había tomado a una mujer etíope por esposa.
And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, because of his wife, an Ethiopian,
2 Y dijeron: ¿Se han dado las palabras del Señor solamente a Moisés? ¿No han venido a nosotros? Y el Señor tomó nota de ello.
and they said: “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Has he not also spoken similarly to us?” And when the Lord had heard this,
3 Ahora, Moisés era más manso que cualquier otro hombre en la tierra.
(for Moses was a man exceedingly meek, beyond all the men who were living upon the earth)
4 Y de pronto el Señor dijo a Moisés, a Aarón y a María: Salgan, ustedes tres, a la tienda de reunión. Y los tres salieron.
immediately he spoke to him, and to Aaron and Miriam, “Go out, you three only, to the tabernacle of the covenant.” And when they had gone out,
5 Y el Señor descendió en una columna de nube, tomando su lugar en la puerta de la Tienda, e hizo que Aarón y Miriam se presentaran ante él.
the Lord descended in a column of cloud, and he stood at the entrance of the tabernacle, calling to Aaron and Miriam. And when they had advanced,
6 Y él dijo: Ahora escucha mis palabras: si hay un profeta entre ustedes, le daré conocimiento de mí mismo en una visión y dejaré que mis palabras vengan a él en un sueño.
he said to them: “Listen to my words. If there will be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him through a dream.
7 Mi siervo Moisés no es así; Él es fiel a mí en toda mi casa.
But it is not so with my servant Moses, who is the most faithful in all my house.
8 Con él hablaré cara a cara, abiertamente y no en palabras oscuras; y con sus ojos verá la forma del Señor: ¿por qué, pues, no temiste decir mal contra mi siervo Moisés?
For I speak with him mouth to mouth, and plainly. And not through enigmas and figures does he perceive the Lord. Therefore, why were you not afraid to disparage my servant Moses?”
9 Y se enojó mucho con ellos, el Señor se fue.
And being angry against them, he went away.
10 Y la nube se movió sobre la Tienda; y de inmediato Miriam se convirtió en una leprosa, tan blanca como la nieve: y Aaron, mirando a Miriam, vio que ella era una leprosa.
Likewise, the cloud which was over the tabernacle withdrew. And behold, Miriam appeared to be white with a leprosy, like snow. And when Aaron had looked upon her, and he had seen the spreading of the leprosy,
11 Entonces Aarón dijo a Moisés: Señor mío, no permitas que nuestro pecado caiga sobre nuestras cabezas, porque lo hemos hecho tontamente y somos pecadores.
he said to Moses: “I beg you, my lord, not to impose upon us this sin, which we have committed foolishly.
12 Que no sea ella como una muerta, cuya carne está casi desechada cuando sale del cuerpo de su madre.
Do not let this one be like one who is dead, or like an abortion that has been cast from the womb of her mother. Behold, half of her flesh is already consumed by leprosy.”
13 Entonces Moisés, clamando al Señor, dijo: Deja que mi oración venga ante ti, oh Dios, y sánala.
And Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, I beg you: heal her.”
14 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Si su padre le hubiera puesto una señal de vergüenza, ¿no sería ella avergonzada por siete días? Deje que se quede recluida fuera del campamento de la tienda durante siete días, y después de eso puede volver a entrar.
And the Lord answered him: “If her father had spit on her face, should she not have been filled with shame for at least seven days? Let her be separated, outside the camp, for seven days, and after that, she will be called back.”
15 Así que Miriam fue echada fuera del campamento durante siete días: y la gente no siguió adelante en su viaje hasta que Miriam había vuelto a entrar.
And so Miriam was excluded from the camp for seven days. And the people did not move from that place, until Miriam was called back.
16 Después de eso, la gente salió de Hazeroth y puso sus tiendas en el desierto de Paran.
And the people set out from Hazeroth, and they pitched their tents in the desert of Paran.
