San Mateo 9
1 Y subió a una barca, cruzó y llegó a su ciudad.
Afterward Jesus got into a boat, and, crossing over, came to his own city.
2 Y le llevaron a un hombre tendido en una cama que no tenía poder para moverse; y Jesús, al ver la fe de ellos, le dijo al hombre que estaba enfermo: Hijo, toma ánimo; tienes perdón de tus pecados.
There some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Courage, child! Your sins are forgiven.”
3 Y algunos de los escribas dijeron entre sí: Este hombre no tiene respeto por Dios.
Then some of the teachers of the Law said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!”
4 Y Jesús, sabiendo lo que estaba en sus mentes, dijo: ¿Por qué tienen malos pensamientos?
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus exclaimed, “Why do your cherish such wicked thoughts?
5 Por lo cual es más simple, decir: tienes perdón de tus pecados; o decir, levántate y vete?
Which, I ask, is the easier? – to say ‘Your sins are forgiven’? Or to say ‘Get up, and walk’?
6 Pero para que sepan que en la tierra el Hijo del hombre tiene autoridad para el perdón de los pecados, (entonces dijo al hombre enfermo): levántate, toma tu cama y vete a tu casa.
But to show you that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” – then he said to the paralyzed man – “Get up, take up your bed, and return to your home.”
7 Y él se levantó y se fue a su casa.
The man got up and went to his home.
8 Pero cuando la gente lo vio, estaban llenos de temor y glorificaban a Dios, que había dado tal autoridad a los hombres.
When the crowd saw this, they were awe-struck, and praised God for giving such power to human beings.
9 Y cuando Jesús se fue de allí, vio a un hombre que se llamaba Mateo, sentado en el lugar donde se hacían los impuestos; y él le dijo: Sígueme. Y él se levantó y fue tras él.
As Jesus went along, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting in the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me.” Matthew got up and followed him.
10 Y sucedió que cuando él estaba en la casa tomando comida, vinieron una cantidad de recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores y tomaron su lugar con Jesús y sus discípulos.
And, later on, when he was having dinner in the house, a number of tax collectors and outcasts came in and took their places at the table with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Cuando los fariseos lo vieron, dijeron a sus discípulos: ¿Por qué tu Maestro toma alimentos con los recaudadores de impuestos y los pecadores?
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat in the company of tax collectors and outcasts?”
12 Al oír esto, dijo: Los que están sanos no necesitan un médico, sino los que están enfermos.
On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.
13 Pero ve y aprende el sentido de estas palabras: Mi deseo es misericordia, no ofrendas; porque no he venido a llamar a los justos sino a pecadores al arrepentimiento.
Go and learn what this means – ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice’; for I did not come to call the religious, but the outcast.”
14 Entonces los discípulos de Juan vinieron a él, diciendo: ¿Por qué nosotros y los fariseos frecuentemente ayunamos, pero tus discípulos no?
Then John’s disciples came to Jesus, and asked, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast while your disciples do not?”
15 Y Jesús les dijo: ¿Los amigos del recién casado estarán tristes mientras él esté con ellos? Pero vendrán días cuando les quitarán al esposo, entonces podrán ayunar.
Jesus answered, “Can the groom’s friends mourn as long as the groom is with them? But the days will come, when the groom will be taken away from them, and they will fast then.
16 Y ningún hombre pone un poco de tela nueva en un abrigo viejo, porque separándose de lo viejo, hace un agujero peor.
Nobody ever puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for such a patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made.
17 Y los hombres no ponen vino nuevo en odres viejos; o las pieles serán reventadas y el vino saldrá, y las pieles ya no tendrán más uso; pero ellos ponen vino nuevo en odres nuevos, y así los dos se conservan.
Nor do people put new wine into old wine-skins; for, if they do, the skins burst, and the wine runs out, and the skins are lost; but they put new wine into fresh skins, and so both are preserved.”
18 Mientras él les decía estas cosas, vino un gobernante y le rindió culto, diciendo: Mi hija está muerta; pero ven y pon tu mano sobre ella, y ella volverá a la vida.
While Jesus was saying this, a synagogue leader came up and bowed to the ground before him. “My daughter,” he said, “has just died; but come and place your hand on her, and she will be restored to life.”
19 Y Jesús se levantó y fue tras él, y así lo hicieron sus discípulos.
So Jesus rose and followed him, and his disciples went also.
20 Y una mujer, que por doce años había tenido un flujo de sangre, vino tras él y puso su mano sobre el borde de su manto.
But meanwhile a woman, who had been suffering from hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind and touched the tassel of his cloak.
21 Porque, se dijo a sí misma, si pudiera poner mi mano en su túnica, Voy a estar bien.
“If I only touch his cloak,” she said to herself, “I will get well.”
22 Pero Jesús, volviéndose y viéndola, dijo: Hija, ten ánimo; tu fe te ha sanado. Y la mujer fue sanada desde esa hora.
Turning and seeing her, Jesus said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has delivered you.” And at that very moment she became well.
23 Y cuando Jesús entró en la casa del gobernante y vio a los músicos tocando flautas y al pueblo haciendo ruido,
When Jesus reached the leader’s house, seeing the flute players, and a number of people all in confusion,
24 Él dijo: Apártense; porque la niña no está muerta, sino durmiendo. Y se estaban riendo de él.
he said, “Go away, the little girl is not dead; she is asleep.” They began to laugh at him;
25 Pero cuando hizo salir a la gente, él entró y la tomó de la mano; y la niña se levantó.
but, when the people had been sent out, Jesus went in, and took the little girl’s hand, and she rose.
26 Y la noticia de esto salió a toda esa tierra.
The report of this spread through all that part of the country.
27 Y cuando Jesús salió de allí, dos ciegos lo siguieron, gritando: ¡Ten piedad de nosotros, Hijo de David!
As Jesus was passing on from there, he was followed by two blind men, who kept calling out, “Take pity on us, Son of David!”
28 Cuando llegó a la casa, los ciegos se acercaron a él; y Jesús les dijo: ¿Tienes fe en que puedo hacer esto? Ellos le dijeron: Sí, Señor.
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came up to him; and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Master!” they answered.
29 Entonces él puso su mano sobre sus ojos, diciendo: Conforme a su fe, hágase en ustedes.
Then he touched their eyes, and said, “It will be according to your faith.”
30 Y sus ojos se abrieron. Y Jesús les dijo estrictamente: mira que nadie lo sepa.
Then their eyes were opened. Jesus sternly cautioned them. “See that no one knows of it,” he said.
31 Pero ellos salieron y dieron noticias de él en toda esa tierra.
But the men went out, and spread the news about him through all that part of the country.
32 Y mientras ellos se iban, vino a él un hombre sin poder hablar, y con un espíritu malo.
Just as they were going out, some people brought up to Jesus a dumb man who was possessed by a demon;
33 Y cuando el espíritu malo había sido echado fuera, el hombre pudo hablar; y todos se sorprendieron, diciendo: Nunca se ha visto tal cosa en Israel.
and, as soon as the demon had been driven out, the dumb man spoke. The people were astonished at this, and exclaimed, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”
34 Pero los fariseos decían: Por él príncipe de los espíritus malos, él echa fuera espíritus malos de los hombres.
But the Pharisees said, “He drives out the demons by the help of the chief of the demons.”
35 Y Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y lugares pequeños, enseñando en sus sinagogas y predicando las buenas nuevas del reino y curando todo tipo de enfermedades y dolores.
Jesus went around all the towns and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Pero cuando vio a todo el pueblo, tuvo compasión de ellos, porque estaban turbados y vagando como ovejas sin dueño.
But, when he saw the crowds, his heart was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and harassed, like sheep without a shepherd;
37 Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: Hay mucho grano, pero no hay suficientes hombres para recogerlo.
and he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few.
38 Entonces, haz la oración al Señor de la cosecha, para que envíe obreros a cosechar su grano.
Therefore pray to the owner of the harvest to send laborers to gather in his harvest.”
