San Mateo 26
1 Y cuando Jesús hubo terminado todas estas palabras, dijo a sus discípulos:
Now it happened that after Jesus had finished all these discourses, he said to his disciples,
2 Dentro de dos días es la Pascua, y el Hijo del hombre será entregado para ser crucificado.
"You know that the Passover is coming in two days, and the Son of man will be delivered up to be crucified."
3 Entonces los principales sacerdotes y los escribas y los ancianos del pueblo se juntaron en la casa del sumo sacerdote, que se llamaba Caifás.
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the court of the palace of the high priest who was called Caiaphas,
4 E hicieron planes juntos para arrestar a Jesús con engaños y matarlo.
and they plotted together to get Jesus into their power by a trick, and to put him to death;
5 Pero ellos dijeron: No durante la fiesta, para que no se alborote la gente.
but said they, "Not during the feast, for fear of causing a riot among the people."
6 Cuando Jesús estaba en Betania, en casa de Simón el leproso,
While Jesus was staying in Bethany, in the house of Simon the Leper,
7 Vino a él una mujer que tenía una botella de perfume muy costoso, y ella le puso el perfume sobre la cabeza cuando estaba sentado a la mesa.
a woman came up to him who had an alabaster vase of very costly perfume, and poured it over his head, as he reclined at table.
8 Pero cuando los discípulos lo vieron, se enojaron, diciendo: ¿Para qué se desperdicia esto?
when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, and exclaimed.
9 Porque pudo haberse vendido por mucho dinero y dárselo a los pobres.
"Why is this waste? This perfume could have been sold for a good sum, and the money given to the poor."
10 Pero al ver Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué molestas a la mujer? ella me ha hecho un acto amable.
But when Jesus understood it he said to them. "Why are you annoying the woman? This is a beautiful deed she has done for me;
11 Porque a los pobres siempre los tendrán con ustedes, pero a mí no siempre me tendrán.
"for the poor you have with you always, but me you will not always have.
12 Porque al poner este perfume en mi cuerpo, lo hizo para prepararme para mi sepultura.
"In pouring this perfume on my body, she was preparing me for my burial.
13 De cierto, de cierto les digo: Dondequiera que se divulguen estás buenas nuevas en todo el mundo, se hablará de lo que hizo esta mujer en memoria de ella.
"In solemn truth I tell you that wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, what she has done shall be told about, as her memorial."
14 Entonces uno de los doce, que se llamaba Judas Iscariote, fue a los principales sacerdotes,
It was then that one of the Twelve, he who was called Judas Iscariot,
15 Y les dijo: ¿Qué me darán, si les entrego a Jesus? Y ellos señalaron el precio en treinta monedas de plata.
went to the chief priests and said, "What are you ready to give me for betraying him to you?" So they weighed him thirty pieces of silver;
16 Y a partir de ese momento él estaba esperando la oportunidad de entregarlo en sus manos.
and from that time he kept looking for a chance to betray him.
17 El primer día de los panes sin levadura, los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le dijeron: ¿Dónde debemos preparar para que comas la Pascua?
On the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to make preparation for you eat the Passover?"
18 Y él les dijo: vayan a la ciudad de cierto hombre, y dile: El Maestro dice: Mi tiempo está cerca: celebraré la pascua en tu casa con mis discípulos.
"Go into the city," he answered, "to a certain man, and tell him. "‘The Teacher says. "My time is near. I am going to keep the Passover at your house, with my disciples."‘"
19 Y los discípulos hicieron como Jesús les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua.
The disciples did as Jesus told them, and made ready the Passover.
20 Cuando llegó la noche, estaba sentado a la mesa con los doce discípulos;
When evening came he reclined at table with the Twelve;
21 Y mientras comían, dijo: De cierto les digo que alguno de ustedes me va a traicionar.
and as they were eating, he said to them, "In solemn truth I tell you that one of you is going to betray me!"
22 Y entristecidos en gran manera empezaron a preguntar un tras otro: ¿Soy yo, Señor?
In deep distress they began to ask him, each in turn, "It is not I, is it, Master?"
23 Y él respondió y dijo: El que mete su mano en el plato conmigo, me traicionara.
In reply he said. "One who has dipped his hand with me in the dish will betray me.
24 A la verdad, el Hijo del Hombre va, como dicen las Escrituras acerca de él; pero la maldición está sobre aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del Hombre es entregado; hubiera sido bueno para ese hombre si nunca hubiera nacido.
"The Son of man is indeed to go as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed. It were good for that man if he had never been born."
25 Y Judas, él que lo entregaba, respondió y dijo: ¿Soy yo, Maestro? Él le dice: tú lo has dicho.
In answer, Judas, who betrayed him, said, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" He said to him, "Is it not?"
26 Cuando estaban comiendo, Jesús tomó pan y, después de bendecirlo, les dio el pan partido a los discípulos y les dijo: Tómalo; este es mi cuerpo.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, when he had blessed it, he broke it and gave to his disciples, saying, "Take, eat, this is my body."
27 Y tomando una copa, bendiciendo, se las dio, diciendo:
And when he had taken the cup and given thanks, he gave it to them, saying.
28 Tomen todos, porque esta es mi sangre de nuevo pacto, que es dada a los hombres para el perdón de sus pecados.
"Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 Pero yo os digo que de ahora en adelante no tomaré de este fruto de la vid, hasta el día en que beba con ustedes él vino nuevo en el reino de mi Padre.
"But I say to you, I will never again drink of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father."
30 Y después de un canto de alabanza a Dios, salieron al monte de los Olivos.
So after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Todos ustedes se apartaran de mí esta noche; porque está dicho en las Escrituras: Daré muerte al pastor de las ovejas, y las ovejas del rebaño serán dispersadas.
Then Jesus said to them. "This very night even you will all stumble and fall away from me; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.
32 Pero después que haya resucitado de entre los muertos, iré delante de ustedes a Galilea.
But after I am raised up I will go before you into Galilee."
33 Entonces Pedro respondió, y le dijo: Aunque todos te nieguen, yo nunca te negaré.
"If they all stumble and fall away from you," answered Peter, "I will never do so!"
34 Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo que esta noche, antes de la hora del grito del gallo, dirás tres veces que no me conoces.
Jesus said to him, "In solemn truth I tell you that on this very night, before cockcrow, you will deny me three times!"
35 Pedro le responde: Aunque me maten contigo, no te negaré. Así lo dijeron todos los discípulos.
But Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you." And so said all the disciples.
36 Luego viene Jesús con ellos a un lugar llamado Getsemaní, y les dice a sus discípulos: “Siéntense aquí, mientras yo voy allí a orar”.
Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, "Sit down here, while I go and pray yonder."
37 Y tomó consigo a Pedro y a los dos hijos de Zebedeo, y se entristeció y se turbó en gran manera.
And he took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him, and began to be in anguish and sore distress,
38 Entonces él les dice: Mi alma está muy triste, hasta la muerte; velen conmigo aquí.
and he said to them. "My soul is an anguish, even unto death! Stay here, and keep watch with me."
39 Y él se adelantó un poco, y postrándose en su rostro en oración, dijo: Padre mío, si es posible, pase de mí esta copa; pero no sea como yo quiero, sino como tu quieras.
Then he went forward a short distance, and fell on his face and prayed. "O, my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wit."
40 Y vino a los discípulos, y los ve que están durmiendo, y dice a Pedro: ¿Qué? ¿No pudiste velar conmigo una hora?
Then he came to his disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter. "So you were none of you strong enough to watch with me even one hour!
41 Velen y oren, para que no entren a prueba: el espíritu verdaderamente está listo, pero la carne es débil.
"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
42 Una vez más, se fue por segunda vez, y dijo en oración: Padre mío, si esto no puede pasar de mí sin que yo lo tome, que se haga tu voluntad.
Then he went away again a second time and prayed, saying, "O, my Father, if this cup cannot pass except I drink it, Thy will be done."
43 Y vino otra vez y los vio durmiendo, porque sus ojos estaban cansados.
He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 Y se fue de ellos otra vez, y una tercera vez dijo la misma oración.
So he left them and went away again, and prayed the third time in the same words as before.
45 Entonces él viene a los discípulos; y les dice: Duerman ahora, y descansen: porque la hora ha llegado, y el Hijo del hombre es entregado en manos de hombres malos.
Then he came to the disciples and said. "Sleep on now, and take your rest. Look! the hour is at hand; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of wicked men.
46 Arriba, vayamos: mira, el que me traiciona está cerca.
"Rouse yourselves! Let us go. My betrayer is close at hand!"
47 Mientras él aún hablaba, vino Judas, uno de los doce, y con él una banda armada con espadas y palos, de parte de los principales sacerdotes y de los ancianos del pueblo.
Barely had he spoken these words when Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared, accompanied by a great crowd of men with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Ahora el que lo entregaba les había dado una señal que decía: Aquel a quien doy un beso, ése es él: arrestenlo.
Now his betrayer had given them a sign, saying. "Whoever I kiss is the man; arrest him."
49 Y enseguida vino a Jesús y le dijo: ¡Maestro! y le dio un beso.
So he came straight up to Jesus and said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed him eagerly.
50 Y Jesús le dijo: Amigo, haz aquello por lo que has venido. Luego vinieron y pusieron sus manos sobre Jesús, y lo arrestaron.
"Friend, do that for which you came," said Jesus. Then they came forward and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him.
51 Y uno de los que estaban con Jesús extendió su mano, y sacó su espada, y le dio un golpe al siervo del sumo sacerdote, y le cortó la oreja.
And, behold, one of these who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and smote the slave of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
52 Entonces Jesús le dice: Vuelve a poner tu espada en su lugar; porque todos los que tomen la espada, morirán a espada.
Then Jesus said to him. "Put back your sword into its place! for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
53 ¿No te parece posible que si le ruego a mi Padre, incluso ahora me envíe doce legiones de ángeles?
"Do you not suppose that I am able to appeal to my Father to furnish me at this very moment with twelve legions of angels?
54 ¿Pero cómo se cumplirian las Escrituras, que dicen que así debe ser?
"But if I did, how could the Scriptures be fulfilled that say that thus it must happen?"
55 En esa hora, Jesús dijo a la gente: ¿Has salido como un ladrón con espadas y palos para llevarme? Yo enseñaba todos los días en el Templo y tú no me llevabas.
Then Jesus said to the crowds. "Are you come out as against a robber, with swords and staves to arrest me? Day after day, I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not apprehend me.
56 Pero todo esto ha sucedido para que las escrituras de los profetas se hagan realidad. Entonces todos sus discípulos dejándole huyeron.
"But all this has happened in order that the Scriptures might be fulfilled."
57 Y los que habían hecho prisionero a Jesús lo llevaron a la casa de Caifás, el sumo sacerdote, donde los escribas y los que tenían autoridad sobre el pueblo se habían reunido.
Then all his disciples forsook him and fled; but those who had apprehended Jesus led him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.
58 Pero Pedro lo siguió a lo lejos, a la casa del sumo sacerdote, y entró y se sentó con los criados para ver el fin.
Now Peter was following him, afar off, as far as the courtyard of the high priest; and when he got in, he was sitting with the officers, to see the end.
59 Y los principales sacerdotes y todo el Sanedrín buscaban falso testimonio contra Jesús, para que lo mataran;
And the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were trying to get false evidence against Jesus, in order that they might have him executed;
60 Y no lo hallaron, aunque vinieron varios testigos falsos.
but they found none, although many false witnesses came forward.
61 Pero luego vinieron dos que dijeron: Este dijo: Yo puedo destruir el templo de Dios y reedificar en tres días.
However, at last two came forward who said, "This fellow declared,’I can destroy the Temple of God and build it in three days.’"
62 Entonces el sumo sacerdote se levantó y le dijo: ¿No tienes respuesta? ¿Qué es lo que estos dicen contra ti?
Rising to his feet the high priest asked Jesus. "Do you make no answer? What is it that these are testifying against you?"
63 Pero Jesús no dijo una palabra. Y el sumo sacerdote le dijo: Te juro por el Dios viviente que nos digas si eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios.
But Jesus kept silence. Again the high priest addressed him, "I adjure you by the Living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!"
64 Jesús le dice: Tú lo dices; pero yo les digo: Desde ahora verán al Hijo del hombre sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios y viniendo sobre las nubes del cielo.
"I am He," Jesus answered; "yet I tell you that from this time on you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming upon the clouds of heaven."
65 Entonces el sumo sacerdote, partiéndose violentamente sus vestiduras, dijo: Dijo mal contra Dios: ¿qué más necesidad tenemos de testigos? porque ahora han llegado a sus oídos sus palabras contra Dios:
Then the high priest tore his garments, saying. "He has spoken blasphemy! What further need have we of witnesses? For behold, now you have heard his blasphemy!
66 ¿Cuál es su opinión? Respondieron y dijeron: “Está bien que lo maten”.
"What is your verdict?" "He ought to die," they answered.
67 Entonces le escupieron en el rostro, le dieron de puñetazo y otros le abofeteaban, avergonzaron, diciendo:
Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and some struck him with the palms of their hands, and cried.
68 ¡Sé profeta, oh Cristo, y di quien te dio un golpe!
"Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who is it who struck you?"
69 Y Pedro estaba sentado en la plaza abierta fuera de la casa; y una criada se le acercó, y le dijo: Tú estabas con Jesús el Galileo.
Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and one of the maidservants came up to him and said, "You also were with Jesus, the Galilean!"
70 Pero Pedro lo negó delante de todos, diciendo: no sé lo que dices.
But he denied it before them all; "I do not know what you mean," he said.
71 Y cuando salió a la puerta, otra lo vio y dijo a los que estaban allí: Este hombre estaba con Jesús el Nazareno.
Soon afterward he went out into the porch, and another maid saw him, and said to those who were there, "This fellow certainly was with Jesus, the Nazarene!"
72 Y otra vez dijo con un juramento, no conozco al hombre.
And again he denied it with an oath, saying, "I never knew the man."
73 Y pasado un tiempo, los que estaban cerca vinieron y dijeron a Pedro: Verdaderamente tú eres uno de ellos; porque tu acento te descubre.
A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, "You also are certainly one of them, for your speech betrays you."
74 Luego, con maldiciones y juramentos, dijo: No conozco al hombre. Y de inmediato vino el grito de un gallo.
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I never knew the man." Immediately the cock crew!
75 Y la palabra de Jesús regresó a Pedro, cuando dijo: Antes de la hora del grito del gallo, dirás tres veces que no me conoces. Y salió, llorando amargamente.
Then Peter recalled the word that Jesus had spoken, "Before the cock crow, you shall three times deny me" - and he went out and broke out into bitter weeping.
