Marcos 4
1 Y otra vez él estaba enseñando cuando cayó la tarde a la orilla del mar. Y una gran cantidad de gente había venido a él, por lo que se metió en un bote en el mar y se sentó; y toda la gente estaba en la tierra junto al mar.
Once again He began to teach beside the sea. And a large crowd was gathered to Him, so that He got into the boat and sat down, out on the water, while the whole crowd was on the land, at the water's edge.
2 Y les dio enseñanza acerca de varias cosas en forma de historias, y les dijo en su enseñanza: Escuchen:
Then He began teaching them many things by parables and said to them in His teaching:
3 Un hombre salió a poner semilla en la tierra:
“Listen! Yes, a sower went out to sow.
4 Y mientras lo hacía, parte de la semilla cayó en el camino, y los pájaros vinieron y lo tomaron para la comida.
And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
5 Y otra parte cayó sobre las piedras, donde no había mucha tierra; y brotó enseguida, porque la tierra no era profunda;
Some fell on the rocky area where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up quickly because it had no depth of soil.
6 Y cuando el sol estaba en lo alto, fue quemada; y debido a que no tenía raíz, se secó y murió.
But upon the sun's rising it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up.
7 Y otra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron, y no tenía espacio para crecer ni dar fruto.
And some fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and smothered it, and it yielded no fruit.
8 Y algunos, cayendo sobre la buena tierra, dieron fruto, subieron y aumentaron, y dieron treinta, sesenta y cien veces más.
And some fell into the good ground, and coming up and growing it started to produce fruit—yielding thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”
9 Y les dijo: Cualquiera que tiene oídos, que oiga.
Then He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
10 Y cuando estaba solo, los que estaban a su alrededor con los doce le hicieron preguntas sobre el propósito de las historias.
But when He was alone, those who were around Him, with the twelve, asked Him about the parable.
11 Y les dijo: A ustedes se les ha dado el secreto del reino de Dios, pero a los que están afuera, todas las cosas se les dan en forma de historias;
So He said to them: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, everything is being given in parables,
12 Para que viendo ellos vean, y no les quede claro; y escuchándolo, no entenderán; por temor a que puedan volverse a mí y obtener perdón.
so that: ‘Seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; so that they should not return and their sins be forgiven them.’”
13 Y él les dijo: Si no tienen clara esta historia, ¿cómo van a tener claridad sobre los demás?
Then He said to them: “Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
14 El sembrador siembra la semilla La semilla es la palabra.
The sower sows the Word.
15 Y estos son ellos en el camino, donde la palabra es plantada; y cuando han oído, el diablo viene inmediatamente y quita la palabra que ha sido plantada en ellos.
These are the ones where the Word is sown along the path: as soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts.
16 Y de la misma manera, estos son los que están plantados en las piedras, quienes, cuando la palabra ha llegado a sus oídos, inmediatamente la reciben con alegría;
Similarly, these are the ones sown on the rocky area: as soon as they hear the Word they receive it with joy,
17 Y no tienen raíz en sí mismos, sino que continúan por un tiempo; luego, cuando viene el problema o el dolor, debido a la palabra, rápidamente se llenan de dudas.
but since they have no root in themselves they are temporary—when oppression or persecution comes because of the Word, they quickly fall away.
18 Y otros son los plantados entre las espinas; estos son los que han oído la palabra,
And these are the ones sown among the thorns: they hear the Word,
19 Y los cuidados de esta vida, y los engaños de las riquezas, y el deseo de que entren otras cosas, detienen el crecimiento de la palabra, los ahoga y no da fruto. (aiōn g165)
but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the undue desires for other things come in and smother the Word, and it becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
20 Y estos son los que fueron plantados en la buena tierra; reciben la palabra con gusto, y dan fruto, a treinta, sesenta y cien veces más.
And these are the ones sown on the good ground: such people hear the Word, welcome it and produce fruit—thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”
21 Y él les dijo: Cuando entra la luz, ¿la gente la pone debajo de una vasija, o debajo de la cama, y no sobre su mesa?
Also He said to them: “The lamp is not brought to be put under a box or under a bed, is it? Is it not to be placed on its stand?
22 No hay nada cubierto que no se vea abiertamente, y nada se ha hecho secreto que no saldrá a la luz.
For there is no ‘hidden’ that may not be exposed, nor has anything been concealed but that it should come to light.
23 Si alguno tiene oídos, que oiga.
If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”
24 Y él les dijo: Tengan cuidado de lo que oyen: en la misma medida que tú das, recibirás, y te darán más.
Then He said to them: “Pay attention to what you hear. With the same measure you use it will be measured to you in return; and to you who hear, more will be added.
25 Al que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
Because whoever has, to him more will be given; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
26 Y él dijo: Tal es el reino de Dios, como si un hombre pusiera su semilla en la tierra,
He also said: “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter the seed on the ground
27 Y se durmió y se levantó, de noche y de día, y la semilla creció, aunque no tenía idea de cómo creció.
and should sleep and get up night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.
28 La tierra da fruto por sí misma; primero la hoja, luego la cabeza, luego el grano completo.
All by itself the earth produces fruit: first a shoot, then a head of grain, then full grain in the head.
29 Pero cuando el grano está listo, envía rápidamente hombres para que lo corten, porque ha llegado el momento de cortarlo.
But as soon as the grain is ready, he sends in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
30 Y él dijo: ¿Qué imagen podemos dar del reino de Dios, o con qué historia podemos dejarlo en claro?
Again He said: “To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God, or with what sort of parable should we illustrate it?
31 Es como un grano de mostaza que, cuando se pone en la tierra, es más pequeño que todas las semillas en la tierra,
It is like a mustard seed, that when it is sown on the ground is the smallest of all such seeds,
32 Pero cuando se planta, sale y se hace más alto que todas las plantas, y saca grandes ramas, para que las aves del cielo puedan descansar en su sombra.
yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden herbs and produces big branches, so that the birds of the air are able to rest in its shade.”
33 Y con varias historias les dio su enseñanza, ya que podían entender por medio de este método:
It was with many such parables that He was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it.
34 Y sin una historia no les dijo nada; pero en privado a sus discípulos, dejó en claro todas las cosas.
But apart from a parable He did not speak to them; privately, however, He would explain everything to His disciples.
35 Y aquel día, cuando llegó la noche, les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado.
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”
36 Y apartándose del pueblo, se lo llevaron con ellos, en el bote. Y otros barcos estaban con él.
Since He was already in the boat, they took off with Him, leaving the crowd behind (other little boats were also with Him).
37 Y una gran tormenta de viento subió, y las olas subieron a la barca, de modo que la barca se estaba llenando.
Well a strong cyclonic wind came up, such that the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling up.
38 Y él mismo estaba en la parte de atrás del bote, durmiendo en el cojín; y ellos, al despertarlo, le dijeron: Maestro, ¿no te importa que nos estamos hundiendo?
But He was on the poop deck, sleeping on the cushion; so they awakened Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don't you care that we are perishing?”
39 Y saliendo de su sueño, dio fuertes órdenes al viento, y dijo al mar: Paz, enmudece. Y el viento bajó, y hubo una gran calma.
Then, having been awakened, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Shut up; be muzzled!” So the wind stopped and there was a complete calm.
40 Y él les dijo: ¿Por qué están llenos de temor? ¿Todavía no tienen fe?
And He said to them: “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”
41 Y su temor fue extremo, y dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién es éste, que aun el viento y el mar cumplen sus órdenes?
They were terrified and started saying to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!?”
