Marcos 10
1 Y él se levantó y se fue a la región de Judea, al otro lado del Jordán; y gran número de gente volvió a unirse a él; y, como era su costumbre, les dio enseñanza.
On leaving that place, Jesus went into the district of Judea on the other side of the Jordan. Crowds gathered about him again; and again, as usual, he began teaching them.
2 Y llegaron a él los fariseos, y lo tentaron con la pregunta: ¿es correcto que un hombre divorcie a su esposa?
Presently some Pharisees came up and, to test him, asked, “Has a husband the right to divorce his wife?”
3 Y les dijo a ellos en respuesta: ¿Qué dijo Moisés que debían hacer?
“What direction did Moses give you?” replied Jesus.
4 Y ellos le dijeron: Moisés permitió al hombre escribir un certificado de divorcio, y liberarse de ella.
“Moses,” they said, “permitted a man to draw up in writing a notice of separation and divorce his wife.”
5 Pero Jesús les dijo: A causa de sus corazones endurecidos, él les dio esta ley.
“It was owing to the hardness of your hearts,” said Jesus, “that Moses gave you this direction;
6 Pero desde el principio, varón y hembra los hizo.
but, at the beginning of the Creation, ‘God made them male and female.’
7 Por esta causa, ¿se apartará un hombre de su padre y de su madre, y se unirá a su mujer?
‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother,
8 Y los dos se convertirán en una sola carne; para que ya no sean dos, sino una sola carne.
and the man and his wife will become one;’ so that they are no longer two, but one.
9 No separe el hombre lo que se ha unido por Dios.
What God himself, then, has yoked together no one must separate.”
10 Y en la casa, los discípulos le volvieron a preguntar sobre esto.
When they were indoors, the disciples asked him again about this,
11 Y les dijo: Cualquiera que repudia a su mujer y toma a otra, comete adulterio en contra de su esposa;
and he said, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman is guilty of adultery against his wife;
12 Y si ella misma repudia a su marido y toma a otro, ella comete adulterio contra su marido.
and, if the woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she is guilty of adultery.”
13 Y tomaron para él niños pequeños, para que él pusiera sus manos sobre ellos; y los discípulos reprendieron a los que los presentaban.
Some of the people were bringing little children to Jesus, for him to touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who had brought them.
14 Cuando Jesús lo vio, se enojó y les dijo: Dejen que los niños vengan a mí y no se los impidan; porque de tal es el reino de Dios.
When, however, Jesus saw this, he was indignant. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “do not hinder them; for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
15 De cierto les digo, que cualquiera que no se someta al reino de Dios como un niño pequeño, no entrará en él en absoluto.
I tell you, unless a person receives the kingdom of God like a child, they will not enter it at all.”
16 Y él los tomó en sus brazos, y les dio una bendición, poniendo sus manos sobre ellos.
Then he embraced the children, and, placing his hands on them, gave them his blessing.
17 Y mientras él estaba saliendo por el camino, un hombre corrió hacia él y se arrodilló, diciendo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué tengo que hacer para tener vida eterna? (aiōnios g166)
As Jesus was resuming his journey, a man came running up to him, and threw himself on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
18 Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué dices que soy bueno? nadie es bueno sino uno, y ese es Dios.
“Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
19 Tú tienes conocimiento de lo que se dice en la ley: No mates a nadie, No adulteres, No tomes lo que no es tuyo, No des falso testimonio, No defraudes, Da honor a tu padre y a tu madre.
You know the commandments – ‘Do not kill. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not say what is false about others. Do not cheat. Honor your father and your mother.’”
20 Y él le dijo: Maestro, todas estas leyes que he guardado desde la juventud.
“Teacher,” he replied, “I have observed all these from my childhood.”
21 Y Jesús, mirándolo y amándolo, dijo: Una cosa se necesita: ve, toma dinero y tus bienes, y dáselo a los pobres, y tendrás riquezas en el cielo; y ven conmigo.
Jesus looked at the man, and his heart went out to him, and he said, “There is still one thing wanting in you; go and sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
22 Pero su rostro se entristeció al decirlo, y él se fue triste, porque era uno que tenía muchas propiedades.
But the man’s face clouded at these words, and he went away distressed, for he had great possessions.
23 Y Jesús, mirando alrededor, dijo a sus discípulos: ¡Cuán difícil es para los que tienen riquezas entrar en el reino de Dios!
Then Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How hard it will be for people of wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 Y los discípulos estaban maravillados de sus palabras. Pero Jesús les dijo otra vez, Hijos, ¡qué difícil es para los que ponen fe en la riqueza entrar en el reino de Dios!
The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “My children, how hard a thing it is to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un hombre rico entre en el reino de Dios.
It is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Y se sorprendieron grandemente, y le dijeron: ¿Quién pues, podrá ser salvo?
“Then who can be saved?” they exclaimed in the greatest astonishment.
27 Jesús, mirándolos, dijo: Para los hombres es imposible, pero no para Dios; porque todas las cosas son posibles para Dios.
Jesus looked at them, and answered, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for everything is possible with God.”
28 Pedro le dijo: Mira, hemos abandonado todo y te seguimos.
“But we,” began Peter, “we left everything and have followed you.”
29 Jesús dijo: De cierto te digo, que no hay hombre que haya dejado la casa, ni hermanos, ni hermanas, ni madre, ni padre, ni hijos, ni tierra, por causa de mí y por las buenas nuevas,
“I tell you,” said Jesus, “there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or land, for my sake and for the good news,
31 Pero un gran número de los primeros serán los últimos: y los últimos serán los primeros.
But many who are first now will then be last, and the last will be first.”
32 Y ellos estaban en el camino, subiendo a Jerusalén; y Jesús iba delante de ellos; y estaban maravillados; pero le seguían con miedo. Y otra vez tomó a los doce, y les dio aviso de las cosas que habían de venir sobre él,
They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, with Jesus walking in front of them. The disciples were filled with awe, while those who were following behind were overwhelmed with fear. Gathering the Twelve around him once more, Jesus began to tell them what was about to happen to him.
33 Diciendo: Mira, vamos a Jerusalén; y el Hijo del Hombre será entregado a los principales sacerdotes y a los escribas; y darán orden de su muerte, y lo entregarán a los gentiles;
“Listen!” he said. “We are going up to Jerusalem; and there the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law, and they will condemn him to death, and they will give him up to the Gentiles,
34 Y se burlaran de él, y le avergonzarán, y le azotarán, y le matarán; y después de tres días resucitará.
who will mock him, spit on him, and scourge him, and put him to death; and after three days he will rise again.”
35 Y vinieron a él Jacobo y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo, diciéndole: Maestro, ¿nos darás lo que te pidamos?
James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, went to Jesus, and said, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 Y él les dijo: ¿Qué quieren que haga por ustedes?
“What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 Y le dijeron: Déjanos estar sentados, uno a tu derecha y otro a tu izquierda, en tu gloria.
“Grant us this,” they answered, “to sit, one on your right, and the other on your left, when you come in glory.”
38 Pero Jesús les dijo: No saben lo que están pidiendo. ¿Eres capaz de beber de la copa que yo bebo? o para someterse al bautismo al que debo someterme?
“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup that I am to drink? Or receive the baptism that I am to receive?”
39 Y ellos le dijeron: Nosotros podemos. Y Jesús les dijo: a la verdad beberás de la copa que yo estoy bebiendo; y con el bautismo que voy a ser bautizado serán bautizados:
“Yes,” they answered, “we can.” “You will indeed drink the cup that I am to drink,” Jesus said, “and receive the baptism that I am to receive,
40 Pero sentarse a mi diestra o a mi izquierda no es mío darlo; sino a aquellos para quienes ha sido preparado.
but as to a seat at my right or at my left – that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
41 Al oír esto, los diez se enojaron mucho con Jacobo y Juan.
On hearing of this, the ten others were at first very indignant about James and John.
42 Y Jesús los hizo venir a él, y les dijo: Ustedes ven que los que son gobernados de los gentiles son señores sobre ellos, y sus grandes tienen autoridad sobre ellos.
But Jesus called the ten to him, and said, “Those who are regarded as ruling among the Gentiles lord it over them, as you know, and their great men oppress them.
43 Pero entre ustedes no es así; pero cualquiera que desee hacerse grande entre ustedes, que sea su servidor.
But among you it is not so. No, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 Y el que quiera ser el primero entre ustedes, sea siervo de todos.
and whoever wants to take the first place among you must be the servant of all;
45 Porque verdaderamente el Hijo del hombre no vino a tener siervos, sino a ser siervo, y a dar su vida por la salvación de los hombres.
for even the Son of Man came, not be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
46 Y vinieron a Jericó; y cuando él salía de Jericó, con sus discípulos y un gran número de personas, el hijo de Timeo, Bartimeo, un ciego, estaba sentado junto al camino, con la mano extendida pidiendo limosna.
They came to Jericho. When Jesus was going out of the town with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.
47 Y cuando llegó a sus oídos que era Jesús de Nazaret, dio un grito, y dijo: Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí.
Hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to call out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me.”
48 Y algunos de ellos, volviéndose en señal de protesta, le ordenaron que guardara silencio, pero siguió gritando aún más, Hijo de David, ten piedad de mí.
Many of the people kept telling him to be quiet; but the man continued to call out all the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me.”
49 Y Jesús se detuvo y dijo: Déjalo venir. Y clamando al ciego, le dijeron: levántate, confía; él ha enviado por ti.
Then Jesus stopped. “Call him,” he said. So they called the blind man. “Have courage!” they exclaimed. “Get up; he is calling you.”
50 Y él, quitándose su manto, se levantó rápidamente, y vino a Jesús.
The man threw off his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
51 Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y el ciego dijo: Maestro, que recobre la vista.
“What do you want me to do for you?” said Jesus, addressing him. “Rabboni,” the blind man answered, “I want to recover my sight.”
52 Y Jesús le dijo: Sigue tu camino; tu fe te ha hecho bien. Y enseguida recobró la vista y fue tras él en el camino.
“You may go,” Jesus said, “Your faith has delivered you.” Immediately he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus along the road.
