San Lucas 9
1 Y juntando a los doce, les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios y para sanar enfermedades.
Then calling together the twelve apostles, he gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 Y los envió a ser predicadores del reino de Dios, y a sanar a los enfermos.
And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 Y él les dijo: No tomen nada para su viaje, ni palo, ni bolsa, ni pan, ni dinero, y no lleven dos túnicas.
And he said to them: Take nothing for your journey; neither staff, nor scrip, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats.
4 Y si entran en una casa, que esa casa sea su lugar de descanso hasta que se vayan.
And whatsoever house you shall enter into, abide there, and depart not from thence.
5 Y si alguna gente no los recibe, cuando se vayan de esa ciudad, sacudan el polvo de sus pies para dar testimonio contra ellos.
And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off even the dust of your feet, for a testimony against them.
6 Y se fueron, recorriendo todas las ciudades, predicando el evangelio y sanando a los enfermos en todos los lugares.
And going out, they went about through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
7 Ahora bien, el rey Herodes tenía noticias de todas estas cosas que hacía Jesús; y estaba en duda, porque algunos decían: que Juan había resucitado;
Now Herod, the tetrarch, heard of all things that were done by him; and he was in a doubt, because it was said
8 Y por algunos, que Elías había venido; y por otros, que uno de los antiguos profetas había resucitado.
By some, that John was risen from the dead: but by other some, that Elias had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
9 Y Herodes dijo: Le di muerte a Juan, pero ¿quién es este, de quien se me dan tales historias? Y él tenía un deseo de verlo.
And Herod said: John I have beheaded; but who is this of whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.
10 Y los doce, cuando volvieron, le dieron cuenta de lo que habían hecho. Y él los tomó con él, a un lugar desierto a un pueblo llamado Betsaida.
And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all they had done. And taking them, he went aside into a desert place, apart, which belongeth to Bethsaida.
11 Pero el pueblo, al recibir noticias de él, fue tras él; y él les recibió, y les dio enseñanza acerca del reino de Dios, y sanaba a los que necesitaban sanidad.
Which when the people knew, they followed him; and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed them who had need of healing.
12 Cuando comenzó atardecer; y los doce vinieron a él y le dijeron: Envía a esta gente para que vayan a las ciudades y a la comarca, y busquen lugares de descanso y comida para ellos, porque estamos en un lugar desolado.
Now the day began to decline. And the twelve came and said to him: Send away the multitude, that going into the towns and villages round about, they may lodge and get victuals; for we are here in a desert place.
13 Pero él dijo: ustedes denles de comer. Y dijeron: Solo tenemos cinco panes y dos pescados, a no ser que nosotros vayamos a comprar comida para todas estas personas.
But he said to them: Give you them to eat. And they said: We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; unless perhaps we should go and buy food for all this multitude.
14 Porque había como cinco mil hombres. Y dijo a sus discípulos: Haz que se sienten en grupos, de cincuenta por grupo.
Now there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples: Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
15 Y lo hicieron así, e hicieron que todos estuvieran sentados.
And they did so; and made them all sit down.
16 Y tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces, y levantando los ojos al cielo, los bendijo, y cuando se rompieron, se los dio a los discípulos para que los dieran a la gente.
And taking the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed them; and he broke, and distributed to his disciples, to set before the multitude.
17 Y todos tomaron comieron y tuvieron suficiente; y recogieron lo que les sobró, doce canastas llenas.
And they did all eat, and were filled. And there were taken up of fragments that remained to them, twelve baskets.
18 Y sucedió que cuando estaba en oración aparte, y los discípulos estaban con él, les hizo una pregunta, diciendo: ¿Quién dice el pueblo que soy yo?
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples also were with him: and he asked them, saying: Whom do the people say that I am?
19 Y ellos, respondiendo, dijeron: Juan el Bautista; pero otros dicen Elías; y otros, que uno de los viejos profetas ha resucitado.
But they answered, and said: John the Baptist; but some say Elias; and others say that one of the former prophets is risen again.
20 Y él dijo: ¿Pero ustedes quién dicen que soy? Y Pedro, respondiendo, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.
And he said to them: But whom do you say that I am? Simon Peter answering, said: The Christ of God.
21 Pero él les dio órdenes especiales, para que no le dijeran esto a nadie;
But he strictly charging them, commanded they should tell this to no man.
22 Diciendo: Es necesario que El Hijo del hombre sufrirá mucho, y será desechado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley, y será muerto, y al tercer día volverá a la vida.
Saying: The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the ancients and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day rise again.
23 Y les dijo a todos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz cada día, y venga en pos de mí.
And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 Porque al que tiene el deseo de guardar su vida, la perderá, pero el que entregue su vida por mí, la salvará.
For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; for he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall save it.
25 ¿Qué aprovecha el hombre si gana todo el mundo, pero se pierde o destruye a sí mismo?
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, and cast away himself?
26 Porque si alguno tiene un sentimiento de vergüenza por mí o por mis palabras, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga en su gloria y la gloria del Padre y de los santos ángeles.
For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man shall be ashamed, when he shall come in his majesty, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels.
27 Pero en verdad les digo, algunos de los que están aquí, no gustarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios.
But I tell you of a truth: There are some standing here that shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God.
28 Y como ocho días después de haber dicho estas cosas, tomó consigo a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo, y subió al monte a orar.
And it came to pass about eight days after these words, that he took Peter, and James, and John, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 Y mientras él estaba en oración, su rostro cambió y su ropa se volvió blanca y brillante.
And whilst he prayed, the shape of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and glittering.
30 Y dos hombres, Moisés y Elías, estaban hablando con él;
And behold two men were talking with him. And they were Moses and Elias,
31 Rodeados de un resplandor glorioso, y hablaban de la muerte que iba a sufrir Jesús en Jerusalén.
Appearing in majesty. And they spoke of his decease that he should accomplish in Jerusalem.
32 Y Pedro y los que estaban con él estaban rendidos de sueño; pero cuando se despertaron, vieron su gloria y los dos hombres que estaban con él.
But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep. And waking, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33 Y cuando estaban a punto de irse de él, Pedro le dijo a Jesús: Maestro, es bueno que estemos aquí; Hagamos tres tiendas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías: sin saber lo que él estaba diciendo.
And it came to pass, that as they were departing from him, Peter saith to Jesus: Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias; not knowing what he said.
34 Y mientras decía estas cosas, la sombra de una nube se apoderó de ellos, y estaban llenos de temor al entrar a la nube.
And as he spoke these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them; and they were afraid, when they entered into the cloud.
35 Y se oyó una voz desde la nube que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, escuchenlo.
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son; hear him.
36 Y después de que la voz se fue, vieron que Jesús estaba solo. Y guardaron silencio, y en aquellos días no dijeron nada a nadie de las cosas que habían visto.
And whilst the voice was uttered, Jesus was found alone. And they held their peace, and told no man in those days any of these things which they had seen.
37 Y al día siguiente, cuando bajaron del monte, un gran grupo de personas se acercó a él.
And it came to pass the day following, when they came down from the mountain, there met him a great multitude.
38 Y un hombre de entre ellos, gritando, dijo: Maestro, te ruego que veas a mi hijo, porque él es mi único hijo.
And behold a man among the crowd cried out, saying: Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son, because he is my only one.
39 Y mira, un espíritu lo toma, y de repente le hace que grite, retorcerse de dolor y le sale espuma por los labios, y cuando por fin se aleja de él, es marcado como por golpes.
And lo, a spirit seizeth him, and he suddenly crieth out, and he throweth him down and teareth him, so that he foameth; and bruising him, he hardly departeth from him.
40 Y pedí a tus discípulos que lo enviaran, pero no pudieron hacerlo.
And I desired thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
41 Y Jesús dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo tendré que estar con ustedes y aguantarlos? deja que tu hijo venga aquí.
And Jesus answering, said: O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring hither thy son.
42 Y mientras venía, él demonio lo derribó y lo sacudió violentamente y retorcido por el espíritu malo. Pero Jesús reprendio al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al niño, y se lo devolvió a su padre.
And as he was coming to him, the devil threw him down, and tore him.
43 Y estaban maravillados del gran poder de Dios. Pero mientras todos se preguntaban acerca de todas las cosas que hacía, les decía a sus discípulos:
And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and cured the boy, and restored him to his father.
44 Dejen que estas palabras penetren en sus oídos, porque el Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de los hombres.
And all were astonished at the mighty power of God. But while all wondered at all the things he did, he said to his disciples: Lay you up in your hearts these words, for it shall come to pass, that the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
45 Pero estas palabras no eran claras para ellos, pues Dios no les había permitido entenderlo; y tenían miedo de cuestionarlo al respecto.
But they understood not this word; and it was hid from them, so that they perceived it not. And they were afraid to ask him concerning this word.
46 Ahora hubo una discusión entre ellos sobre cuál de ellos sería el mejor.
And there entered a thought into them, which of them should be greater.
47 Pero cuando Jesús vio el razonamiento de sus corazones, tomó un niño y lo puso a su lado,
But Jesus seeing the thoughts of their heart, took a child and set him by him,
48 Y les dijo: Cualquiera que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, me honra; y cualquiera que me honre Da honor al que me envió: porque el que es el más pequeño entre todos ustedes, ese hombre es él más grande.
And said to them: Whosoever shall receive this child in my name, receiveth me; and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth him that sent me. For he that is the lesser among you all, he is the greater.
49 Y Juan, respondiendo, dijo: Maestro, vimos a un hombre expulsando a los espíritus inmundos en tu nombre, y se lo hemos prohibido, porque él no era uno de nosotros.
And John, answering, said: Master, we saw a certain man casting out devils in thy name, and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us.
50 Pero Jesús le dijo: Deja que lo haga, porque el que no está contra nosotros, es por nosotros.
And Jesus said to him: Forbid him not; for he that is not against you, is for you.
51 Y aconteció que cuando se acercaban los días para ser recibido arriba, emprendió con valor su viaje para ir a Jerusalén,
And it came to pass, when the days of his assumption were accomplishing, that he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.
52 Y envió mensajeros delante de él; y vinieron a un pequeño pueblo de Samaria para hacerle preparativos.
And he sent messengers before his face; and going, they entered into a city of the Samaritans, to prepare for him.
53 Pero no le recibieron, porque claramente veían que iría a Jerusalén.
And they received him not, because his face was of one going to Jerusalem.
54 Cuando sus discípulos, Santiago y Juan, vieron esto, dijeron: Señor, ¿podemos enviar fuego del cielo y poner fin a ellos?
And when his disciples James and John had seen this, they said: Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them?
55 Pero volviéndose, les reprendió diciendo: ustedes no saben de qué espíritu son.
And turning, he rebuked them, saying: You know not of what spirit you are.
56 porque el Hijo del hombre no ha venido para perder las almas de los hombres sino para salvarlas. Y ellos fueron a otra ciudad pequeña.
The Son of man came not to destroy souls, but to save. And they went into another town.
57 Y cuando estaban en el camino, cierto hombre le dijo: Yo te seguiré dondequiera que vayas.
And it came to pass, as they walked in the way, that a certain man said to him: I will follow thee withersoever thou goest.
58 Y Jesús le dijo: Las zorras tienen guaridas, y las aves del cielos nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza.
Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 Y dijo a otro: Ven después de mí. Pero él dijo: Señor, déjame ir primero y enterrar a mi padre.
But he said to another: Follow me. And he said: Lord, suffer me first to go, and to bury my father.
60 Pero él le dijo: Deja que los muertos cuiden de sus muertos; tú ve y da noticias del reino de Dios.
And Jesus said to him: Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou, and preach the kingdom of God.
61 Y otro hombre dijo: Iré contigo, Señor, pero antes déjame despedirme primero de los que están en mi casa.
And another said: I will follow thee, Lord; but let me first take my leave of them that are at my house.
62 Pero Jesús dijo: Ningún hombre, habiendo puesto su mano en el arado mirando hacia atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.
Jesus said to him: No man putting his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
