San Lucas 6
1 Y aconteció que un sábado, el día de reposo, estaba pasando por los campos de trigo, y sus discípulos arrancaban espigas del trigo para comer, restregandose en sus manos y comían.
Now it happened on a second-first Sabbath that He was passing through the grain fields, and His disciples began to pick and eat the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.
2 Pero algunos de los fariseos dijeron: ¿Por qué hacen lo que no es correcto hacer en sábado?
But some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”
3 Y Jesús dijo: ¿No han leído en las Escrituras lo que hizo David cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que estaban con él?
So in answer to them Jesus said: “Have you not even read this, what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:
4 ¿Cómo entró en la casa de Dios y tomó el pan santo consagrado a Dios, que solo los sacerdotes podían tomar, y lo dio a los que estaban con él?
how he went into the house of God, took and ate the showbread, and even gave it to those with him—that which only the priests are allowed to eat?”
5 Y él dijo: El Hijo del hombre es Señor aun del sábado.
Then He said to them, “The Son of the Man is Lord even of the Sabbath!”
6 Y sucedió que en otro día de reposo, él entró a la sinagoga y estaba enseñando allí. Y había un hombre allí cuya mano derecha estaba seca.
Now it happened on a different Sabbath that He entered the synagogue and began to teach. Well there was a man there whose right hand was shriveled;
7 Y los escribas y los fariseos lo espiaban para ver si él lo sanaba en el día de reposo, para tener un pretexto para acusarle.
so the scribes and the Pharisees started watching, to see if He would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against Him.
8 Pero él sabía lo que pensaban en ellos; y le dijo al hombre cuya mano estaba seca: levántate y ven en el medio. Y él se levantó y se puso de pie.
But He knew their thoughts and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in the center.” So he got up and stood.
9 Y Jesús dijo: les haré una pregunta: ¿Es correcto hacer el bien en sábado o hacer el mal? dar vida o quitarla?
Then Jesus said to them: “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?”
10 Y mirándolos alrededor a todos ellos, le dijo: Extiende tu mano. Y él lo hizo así, y su mano quedó sana.
And when He had looked around at them all, He said to him, “Stretch out your hand!” So he did that, and his hand was restored, as sound as the other.
11 Pero estaban llenos de ira, y hablaban entre sí de lo que podrían hacerle a Jesús.
But they were filled with rage, and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.
12 Y aconteció en aquellos días que él salió a la montaña a orar; y estuvo toda la noche orando a Dios.
Now it happened in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and He continued all night in prayer to God.
13 Y cuando era de día y, volviéndose a sus discípulos, hizo una selección de doce entre ellos, a los que dio el nombre de Apóstoles;
When it was day He called His disciples, and from them He chose twelve, whom He also named apostles:
14 Simón, a quien dio el nombre de Pedro, y Andrés, su hermano, y Santiago, y Juan, y Felipe, y Bartolomé,
Simon (whom He also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Phillip and Bartholomew,
15 Y Mateo, y Tomás y Jacobo, hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, que fué llamado el Zelote,
Matthew and Thomas, James (the son of Alphaeus) and Simon (the one called ‘Zealot’),
16 Y Judas, el hijo de Jacobo, y Judas Iscariote, el traidor.
Judas of James and Judas Iscariot (who also became ‘traitor’).
17 Y descendió con ellos a un lugar llano, y en compañía de sus discípulos, y un gran número de personas de toda Judea y Jerusalén y de las partes de Tiro y Sidón junto al mar, vinieron para oirle y para ser sanado de sus enfermedades;
Then He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, also from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases,
18 Y aquellos que estaban atribulados con espíritus inmundos eran sanados.
as well as those who were being harassed by unclean spirits—and they were being healed!
19 Y todo el pueblo deseaba ser tocado por él, porque el poder salía de él y los sanaba a todos.
So the whole crowd kept trying to touch Him, because power was going out from Him and was healing all.
20 Y volviendo la vista á sus discípulos, dijo: Bienaventurados los pobres, porque el reino de Dios es de ustedes.
Then He raised His eyes toward His disciples and said: “Blessed are you poor, because the Kingdom of God is yours.
21 Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre, porque serán saciados. Bienaventurados los que lloran ahora; porque se alegrarán.
Blessed are you who hunger now, because you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, because you will laugh.
22 Bienaventurados ustedes, cuando los hombres los aborrezcan, y cuando los expulsen, cuando los insulten, cuando desprecien su nombre como cosa mala, por causa del Hijo del hombre.
Blessed are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and heap insults on you and trash your name as ‘malignant’, for the Son of the Man's sake.
23 Alégrense en aquel día, y alégrense, porque su recompensa en los cielos será grande; porque sus padres hicieron estas mismas cosas a los profetas.
Rejoice in that day and skip about! Because your reward really is great in Heaven; for that is how their fathers treated the prophets.
24 Ay! de ustedes los que tienen riquezas! porque ya han sido consolados.
“But woe to you who are rich! because you have already received your comfort.
25 Ay! de ustedes que están saciados, porque tendrán hambre. Ay! de ustedes que se están riendo ahora, porque estarán llorando de tristeza.
Woe to you who are full! because you will go hungry. Woe to you who are presently laughing! because you will mourn and weep.
26 Ay! de ustedes cuando todos los hombres les dan su aprobación; porque así lo hicieron sus padres a los falsos profetas.
Woe, when all men speak well of you; for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets!
27 Pero yo les digo a ustedes quienes me escuchan: Tengan amor por los que están en tu contra, hagan bien a los que les odian;
“Further, to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you;
28 Bendigan a los que los maldicen, digan oraciones por aquellos que son crueles con ustedes.
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29 Si un hombre te da un golpe en un lado de la cara, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quita la capa, ni aun la túnica le niegues.
To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold the tunic as well.
30 Da a todos los que vengan a pedir, y si un hombre se lleva lo tuyo, no intentes recuperarlo nuevamente.
Give to everyone who asks of you; and from him who takes away your things, do not demand them back.
31 Haz a los demás lo que quieras que te hagan a ti.
Yes, like you want people to treat you, that is just how you must treat them.
32 Si tienes amor por aquellos que te quieren, ¿qué crédito tienes? porque aun los pecadores tienen amor por aquellos que los aman.
Also, if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them.
33 Y si haces bien a los que te hacen bien, ¿qué crédito tienes? porque incluso los pecadores hacen lo mismo.
And if you do good to those doing good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do the same.
34 Y si prestas a aquellos, de quien esperas recuperarlo, ¿qué crédito tienes? incluso los pecadores lo hacen a los pecadores, esperando recuperar otro tanto.
And if you lend to those from whom you expect to get it back, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners’, to receive an equal value back.
35 Ama, pues, a los que están contra ti y haz el bien, y da prestado, sin esperar nada a cambio, y tu recompensa será grande y serán hijos del Altísimo; porque es bueno con los ingratos y hombres malos.
“So, love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; because He is kind toward the ungrateful and wicked.
36 Sé lleno de misericordia, como tu Padre está lleno de misericordia.
So be compassionate, even as your Father is compassionate.
37 No sean jueces de otros, y no serán juzgados: no condenen a otros, y no serán condenados: perdonen a otros, y serán perdonados:
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Den, y se les dará a ustedes; buena medida, apretada, lleno y remecida, y rebozando les darán a su regazo. Porque en la misma medida que mides, se te medirá.
Give and it will be given to you: a good measure—pressed down and shaken together and running over—will they deposit in your lap. Because with the same measure that you use it will be measured back to you.”
39 Y les dio enseñanza en forma de historia, diciendo: ¿Es posible que un ciego sea el guía de otro? ¿No caerán juntos en un agujero?
Then He told them a parable: “Can a blind man guide a blind man? Will they not both fall into a ditch?
40 El discípulo no es más grande que su maestro, mas todo él que ha sido perfeccionado será como su maestro.
A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
41 ¿Y por qué miras la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano, pero no ves la viga que está en tu ojo?
Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank that is in your own eye?
42 ¿Cómo le dirás a tu hermano, hermano, déjame sacar la paja que está en tu ojo, cuando tú mismo no ves la viga que tienes en tu propio ojo? ¡Oh Hipócrita! Primero saca tu viga de tu ojo y luego verás claramente para quitar la paja del ojo de tu hermano.
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye.
43 Porque ningún árbol bueno da malos frutos, ni ningún árbol malo da buenos frutos.
“Now no good tree produces rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree produce good fruit
44 Porque cada árbol se conoce por su fruto. Los hombres no obtienen los higos de las espinas ni las uvas de las plantas de mora.
—each tree is known by its own fruit: people do not gather figs from thorn bushes, nor do they pick a bunch of grapes from a bramble.
45 El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón, da buenas cosas; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro de su corazón saca lo malo; porque de la abundancia del corazón habla la boca.
The good man produces the good out of the good treasure in his heart, and the malignant man produces the malignant out of the malignant treasure in his heart; because his mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart.
46 ¿Por qué me dices: Señor, Señor, y no hacen lo que yo digo digo?
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’, and not do what I say?
47 Todo el que viene a mí y escucha mis palabras y las hace, les indicaré a quién es semejante.
Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them—I will show you who he is like:
48 Es como un hombre que está construyendo una casa, que cavó profundo y puso su base sobre una roca; y cuando el agua subía y el río creció y dio con fuerza contra esa casa, no se movía, porque el edificio estaba fundada sobre la roca.
he is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on the bedrock. When a flood occurred, the torrent burst upon that house but could not shake it, because it was founded on the bedrock.
49 Pero el que oye, sin hacer, es como un hombre que edifica una casa en la tierra sin base para ella; y cuando la fuerza del río vino contra él, enseguida descendió; y la destrucción de esa casa fue grandiosa.
But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built his house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
