San Lucas 20
1 Y sucedió uno de esos días, cuando enseñaba a la gente en el Templo y predicaba las buenas nuevas,
And it came to pass, that, on one of those days, while he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes, with the elders, came to him,
2 Que los principales sacerdotes y los escribas y los principales del pueblo se le acercaron y le dijeron: Déjanos en claro por qué autoridad haces estas cosas y quién te dio esta autoridad.
and spoke to him, saying: Tell us by what authority you do these things? or, who is he that gave you this authority?
3 Y respondiendo él les dijo: Les haré una pregunta, y ¿me responden?
And he answered and said to them: I also will ask you one thing, and do you answer me.
4 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres?
Was the immersion of John from heaven, or from men?
5 Y dijeron entre sí: Si decimos: Del cielo; él dirá: ¿Por qué no tienes fe en él?
And they reasoned among themselves, saying: If we say, From heaven, he will reply: Why, then, did you not believe him?
6 Pero si decimos: De los hombres; el pueblo nos apedreará, porque están seguros de que Juan fue un profeta.
But if we say, From men, all the people will stone us; for they believe that John was a prophet.
7 Y respondieron que no tenían idea de dónde venía.
And they answered, that they knew not whence it was.
8 Y Jesús dijo: Y yo tampoco les digo con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.
And Jesus said to them: Nor do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
9 Y le dio a la gente esta historia: un hombre hizo un huerto de viñedos y lo rento a algunos de los trabajadores del campo y se fue a otro país durante mucho tiempo.
And he began to speak this parable to the people: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to vine-dressers, and was absent from home for a long time.
10 Y en el momento correcto, envió un sirviente a los trabajadores para obtener parte del fruto de las viñas; pero los trabajadores le dieron golpes y lo enviaron sin nada.
And at the proper season, he sent a servant to those vine-dressers, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vine-dressers scourged him, and sent him away empty-handed.
11 Y envió otro siervo, y le dieron golpes del mismo modo, y le avergonzaron, y le enviaron sin nada.
And he then sent another servant. But they scourged him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.
12 Y envió un tercero, y le hirieron y lo echaron fuera.
And he also sent a third; but they wounded him, and drove him out.
13 Y el señor de la viña dijo: ¿Qué he de hacer? Enviaré a mi querido hijo; ellos pueden darle respeto a él.
And the owner of the vineyard said: What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps, when they see him, they will reverence him.
14 Pero cuando los obreros lo vieron, se dijeron unos a otros: Este es el que algún día será el dueño de la propiedad; vamos a matarlo y la herencia será nuestra.
But when the vine-dressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying: This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
15 Y echándolo fuera de la viña lo mataron. Ahora, ¿qué le hará el señor a estos obreros?
And they drove him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
16 Él vendrá y los destruirá y dará la viña a otros. Y cuando dijo esto, dijeron: “No sea así, Dios nos libre”.
He will come and destroy these vine-dressers, and will give his vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said: Be it not so!
17 Pero él, mirándolos, dijo: ¿No está escrito en las Escrituras? La piedra que los constructores rechazaron, ¿la misma se ha convertido en la principal piedra del edificio?
And he looked on them and said: What, then, does this mean, which is written, The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner?
18 Todos los que caigan sobre la piedra serán quebrantados, pero el hombre en quien la piedra caiga sera echo polvo.
Whoever shall fall on this stone, shall be dashed to pieces; but on whomever it shall fall, it will make him as chaff for the wind.
19 Y los principales sacerdotes y los escribas intentaron ponerle las manos encima en esa misma hora; y tenían miedo de la gente, porque vieron que él había dicho esta historia contra ellos.
And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him, the same hour; (and yet they feared the people; ) for they knew that he spoke this parable against them.
20 Y lo vigilaron, y enviaron representantes secretos, que actuaban como parte de hombres buenos, para que pudieran obtener algo de sus palabras y hacerlo caer en una trampa, y así tener pretexto o causa para entregarlo al poder y autoridad del gobierno.
And they watched him, and sent spies, who feigned them selves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words, in order to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
21 Y le hicieron una pregunta, diciendo: Maestro, estamos seguros de que tu enseñanza y tus palabras son correctas, y que no respetas la posición de un hombre, sino que estás enseñando el verdadero camino de Dios:
And they asked him, saying: Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and do not regard the person of any, but teach the way of God in truth.
22 ¿Es correcto? para nosotros hacer el pago de impuestos a César o no?
Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Cæsar, or not?
23 Pero él vio a través de su truco y les dijo, porque me tientan?
But he perceived their cunning, and said to them: Why do you tempt me?
24 Déjame ver un centavo. ¿De quién es la imagen y el nombre? Y ellos dijeron: de César.
Show me a denarius. Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said: Cæsar’s.
25 Y él dijo: Da al César lo que es de César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.
He said to them: Give, therefore, to Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.
26 Y no pudieron sacar nada de estas palabras delante del pueblo; pero estaban maravillados de su respuesta, y no dijeron nada.
And they were not able to take hold of his words before the people. And they were astonished at his answer, and were silent.
27 Y algunos de los saduceos vinieron a él, los cuales dicen que no hay resurrección; y le dijeron,
Then there came to him some of the Sadducees, (these deny that there is any resurrection, ) and asked him,
28 Maestro, Moisés dijo que si el hermano de un hombre llega a su fin, teniendo una esposa, pero no hijos, su hermano debe tomar la esposa, y obtener una familia para su hermano.
saying: Teacher, Moses wrote for us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up children for his brother.
29 Ahora bien, había siete hermanos, y el primero tenía una esposa y llegó a su fin, sin tener hijos;
There were, therefore, seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died without children;
30 Y el segundo;
and the second took his wife, and he died without children;
31 Y el tercero la tomó; y de la misma manera, los siete, sin tener hijos, llegaron a su fin.
and the third took her; and in like manner also the seven; and they left no children, and died.
32 Y por último, la mujer llegó a su fin.
Last of all, the woman also died.
33 Cuando vuelvan de entre los muertos, ¿de quién será ella? porque los siete la tenían a ella.
Therefore, in the resurrection, of which of them shall she be the wife? for the seven had her as a wife.
And Jesus answered and said to them: The children of this age marry, and are given in marriage. (aiōn g165)
35 Pero aquellos a quienes se les da la recompensa del mundo venidero, y que vuelven de los muertos, no tienen esposas o esposos, ni se darán en casamiento; (aiōn g165)
But those who shall be accounted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. (aiōn g165)
36 Y la muerte no tiene más poder sobre ellos, porque son iguales a los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, siendo los hijos de resurrección.
For they can die no more; for they are like the angels, and are the sons of God, being the sons of the resurrection.
37 Pero incluso Moisés dejó en claro que los muertos vuelven a la vida, diciendo, en la historia de la zarza que ardía: El Señor, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.
But: that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at The Bush, since he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
38 Ahora bien, él no es el Dios de los muertos, sino de los vivos, porque para Dios todos los hombres viven.
He is not a God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.
39 Y algunos de los escribas, respondiendo a esto, dijeron: Maestro, tú has dicho bien.
And certain of the scribes answered and said: Teacher, thou hast answered well.
40 Y tenían miedo de hacerle más preguntas.
And after this they durst not ask him any question at all.
41 Y él les dijo: ¿Por qué dicen que el Cristo es el hijo de David?
But he said to them: How say they that the Christ is the son of David?
42 Porque David mismo dice en el libro de los Salmos: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Toma asiento a mi diestra,
Even David himself says, in the book of Psalms: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,
43 hasta que yo ponga como estrado de tus pies a todos tus enemigos.
till I make thy enemies thy footstool.
44 David entonces le da el nombre de Señor, entonces ¿cómo es posible que él sea su hijo?
David, therefore, calls him Lord; and how is he his son?
45 Y a oídos de todo el pueblo, dijo a sus discípulos:
And while all the people were listening, he said to his disciples:
46 Apartaos de los escribas, cuya complacencia es andar con túnicas largas, y que les digan palabras de respeto en los mercados, y toma los asientos principales en las sinagogas y los primeros lugares en las fiestas;
Beware of the scribes, who delight to walk in robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the first seats in the synagogues, and the first places at suppers;
47 Quienes toman la propiedad de las viudas y ante los ojos de los hombres hacen largas oraciones; recibirán un castigo mayor.
who eat up the houses of widows, and, for a pretext, make long prayers. These shall receive the greater condemnation.
