Lamentaciones 4
1 ¡Qué oscuro se ha vuelto el oro! ¡Cómo cambió el mejor oro! Las piedras del lugar santo están esparcidas por las esquinas de cada calle.
ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
2 Los valiosos hijos de Sión, cuyo precio era el mejor oro, son vistos como vasos de barro, ¡el trabajo de las manos del alfarero!
BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
3 Incluso las bestias de la tierra baldía tienen pechos llenos, dan leche a sus pequeños; la hija de mi pueblo se ha vuelto cruel como los avestruces del desierto.
GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
4 La lengua del niño en el pecho se fija al paladar por la sed, los niños pequeños claman por pan y nadie se los da.
DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
5 Los que estaban acostumbrados a comer comida delicada ahora mueren en las calles; los que de niños, estaban vestidos de púrpura, ahora abrazan los muladares.
HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
6 Porque el castigo de la hija de mi pueblo es mayor que el de Sodoma, la cual fue destruida repentinamente sin que ninguna mano cayera sobre ella.
VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
7 Sus santos eran más limpios que la nieve, más blancos que la leche, sus cuerpos eran más rojos que los corales, su porte era como el zafiro.
ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
8 Su rostro es más negro que la noche; en las calles nadie los conoce; su piel cuelga de sus huesos, están secos, se han vuelto como la madera.
HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
9 Los que han sido puestos en la espada están mejor que aquellos cuya muerte es causada por la necesidad de comida; porque éstos mueren lentamente, quemados como el fruto del campo.
TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [want of] the fruits of the field.
10 Las manos de mujeres de buen corazón han estado hirviendo a sus hijos; Fueron su alimento en la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo.
JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 El Señor ha dado pleno efecto a su furor, ha desatado su ira ardiente; Él ha hecho un fuego en Sión, causando la destrucción de sus bases.
CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
12 Para los reyes de la tierra y para todas los habitantes del mundo no parecía posible que los atacantes y el adversario entrarían por las puertas de Jerusalén.
LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Es debido a los pecados de sus profetas y la maldad de sus sacerdotes, por quienes la sangre de los rectos ha sido derramada en ella.
MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
14 Ellos vagan como ciegos en las calles, están tan contaminados con sangre, que sus ropas no puedan ser tocadas por los hombres.
NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
15 ¡Fuera! ¡inmundo! Les gritaban, ¡Fuera! ¡lejos! que no haya contacto; cuando se fueron huyendo y vagando, los hombres dijeron entre las naciones: “Nunca más habitarán aquí”.
SAMECH. Depart ye from the unclean ones: call ye them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yea, they stagger: say ye among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
16 La presencia del Señor los ha enviado en todas direcciones; ya no los cuidará más; no respetaron a los sacerdotes, no honraron a los ancianos.
AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
17 Nuestros ojos todavía siguen en vano esperando ayuda; hemos estado observando a una nación incapaz de dar la salvación.
PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
18 Ellos siguen nuestros pasos; no podemos ir a nuestras plazas; nuestro final está cerca, nuestros días están contados; porque nuestro fin ha llegado.
We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn nigh, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
19 Los que nos siguieron fueron más rápidos que las águilas del cielo, llevándonos ante ellos a las montañas, esperándonos secretamente en el desierto.
Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
20 Nuestro aliento de vida, aquel quien fue ungido, fue tomado en sus agujeros; aquel de quien dijimos: A su sombra viviremos entre las naciones.
RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.
21 Ten alegría y regocíjate, oh hija de Edom, que vives en la tierra de Uz; la copa te será entregada a tu turno, y te embriagarás y te desnudarás.
CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwellest in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to thee: thou shalt be drunken, and pour forth.
22 El castigo de tu maldad está completo, oh hija de Sión; nunca más te llevará como prisionero: te dará la recompensa de tu maldad, oh hija de Edom; Él dejará que tu pecado sea descubierto.
THAU. O daughter of Sion, thine iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry thee captive: he has visited thine iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered thy sins.
