Jueces 3

1 Estas son las naciones que el Señor guardó en la tierra con el propósito de probar a Israel, a todos aquellos que no tuvieron experiencia de todas las guerras de Canaán;

Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

2 Solo por las generaciones de los hijos de Israel, con el propósito de enseñarles la guerra, solo aquellos que hasta ese momento no tenían experiencia de ello;

only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as beforetime knew nothing thereof;

3 Los cinco jefes de los filisteos, y todos los cananeos, los sidonios y los heveos que viven en el monte Líbano, desde la montaña Baal-hermón hasta Hamat:

namely, the five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Zidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon unto the entrance of Hamath.

4 Con el propósito de poner a prueba por ellos a Israel, para ver si obedecerían las órdenes del Señor, que él había dado a sus padres por medio de Moisés.

And they were there, to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which He commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

5 Los hijos de Israel vivían entre los cananeos, los hititas, los amorreos, los ferezeos, los heveos y los jebuseos.

And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites;

6 Y tomaron como esposas a las hijas de estas naciones y dieron sus hijas a sus hijos, y se convirtieron en sirvientes de sus dioses.

and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

7 Y los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y sacaron de sus mentes al Señor su Dios, y se convirtieron en siervos de los baales y las imágenes de asera.

And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgot the LORD their God, and served the Baalim and the Asheroth.

8 Así se encendió la ira del Señor contra Israel, y los entregó en manos de Cusán-risataim, rey de Mesopotamia; y los hijos de Israel fueron sus siervos por ocho años.

Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and He gave them over into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram-naharaim; and the children of Israel served Cushan-rishathaim eight years.

9 Y cuando los hijos de Israel oraron al Señor, él les dio un salvador, Otoniel, el hijo de Cenaz, el hermano menor de Caleb.

And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a saviour to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

10 Entonces el espíritu del Señor vino sobre él, y se convirtió en juez de Israel, y salió a la guerra, y el Señor entregó a Cusan-risataim, rey de Mesopotamia, en sus manos y lo venció.

And the spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and the LORD delivered Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Cushan-rishathaim.

11 Entonces, durante cuarenta años, la tierra tuvo paz hasta la muerte de Otoniel, hijo de Cenaz.

And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

12 Entonces los hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor; e hizo el Señor a Eglón, rey de Moab, fuerte contra Israel, porque habían hecho lo malo ante los ojos del Señor.

And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

13 Y Eglón reunió a la gente de Amón y Amalec, y fueron y vencieron a Israel y tomaron el pueblo de palmeras.

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and smote Israel, and they possessed the city of palm-trees.

14 Y los hijos de Israel fueron siervos de Eglón, rey de Moab, por dieciocho años.

And the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

15 Entonces, cuando los hijos de Israel oraron al Señor, les dio un salvador, Aod, el hijo de Gera, el Benjamita, un hombre zurdo; y los hijos de Israel enviaron por él ofrenda a Eglón, rey de Moab.

But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a saviour, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a man left-handed; and the children of Israel sent a present by him unto Eglon the king of Moab.

16 Aod se hizo una espada de dos filos, un largo de codo, que se puso a su lado derecho debajo de su túnica.

And Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he girded it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

17 Y tomó la ofrenda a Eglón, rey de Moab, que era un hombre muy gordo.

And he offered the present unto Eglon king of Moab — now Eglon was a very fat man.

18 Y después de dar la ofrenda, envió a la gente que había venido con la ofrenda.

And when he had made an end of offering the present, he sent away the people that bore the present.

19 Pero él mismo, volviendo de las imágenes de piedra de Gilgal, dijo: Tengo algo que decirte en secreto, oh rey; y él dijo: Que haya silencio. Entonces salieron todos los que lo esperaban.

But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said: 'I have a secret errand unto thee, O king.' And he said: 'Keep silence.' And all that stood by him went out from him.

20 Entonces Aod entró a él mientras estaba sentado solo en su casa de verano. Y Aod dijo: Tengo una palabra de Dios para ti. Y se levantó de su asiento.

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting by himself alone in his cool upper chamber. And Ehud said: 'I have a message from God unto thee.' And he arose out of his seat.

21 Aod extendió su mano izquierda, tomó la espada de su lado derecho y la insertó en su estómago;

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly.

22 Y la empuñadura entró después de la espada, y la grasa cubrió la espada; porque no sacó la espada de su estómago y se le salieron los excrementos.

And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, for he drew not the sword out of his belly; and it came out behind.

23 Entonces Aod salió por la ventana, cerró las puertas de la casa de verano y cerró con llave.

Then Ehud went forth into the porch, and shut the doors of the upper chamber upon him, and locked them.

24 Cuando se hubo ido, vinieron los siervos del rey y vieron que las puertas de la casa de verano estaban cerradas con llave; y dijeron: Puede ser que esté en su casa de verano para un propósito privado.

Now when he was gone out, his servants came; and they saw, and, behold, the doors of the upper chamber were locked; and they said: 'Surely he is covering his feet in the cabinet of the cool chamber.'

25 Y siguieron esperando empezaron a preocuparse, pero las puertas seguían cerradas; así que tomaron la llave y, al abrirlas, vieron a su señor tendido muerto en el suelo.

And they tarried till they were ashamed; and, behold, he opened not the doors of the upper chamber; therefore they took the key, and opened them; and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

26 Pero Aod se había escapado mientras estaban esperando y había pasado las imágenes de piedra y se había escapado a Seirat.

And Ehud escaped while they lingered, having passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirah.

27 Y ​​cuando llegó allí, tocó un cuerno; shofar, en la región montañosa de Efraín, y todos los hijos de Israel bajaron con él de la región montañosa, y él a la cabeza.

And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a horn in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill-country, and he before them.

28 Y él les dijo: Síganme; porque el Señor ha entregado a los moabitas, sus enemigos, en sus manos. Entonces bajaron tras él y tomaron los lugares de cruce del Jordán contra Moab, y no dejaron que nadie cruzara.

And he said unto them: 'Follow after me; for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.' And they went down after him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and suffered not a man to pass over.

29 En ese momento pusieron cerca de diez mil hombres de Moab a la espada, cada hombre fuerte y cada hombre de guerra; ni un hombre se escapó.

And they smote of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, every lusty man, and every man of valour; and there escaped not a man.

30 Entonces Moab fue quebrantado aquel día bajo la mano de Israel. Y durante ochenta años la tierra tuvo paz.

So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

31 Después de él vino, Samgar el hijo de Anat, quien mató a seiscientos filisteos con una aguijada de buey; y él fue otro salvador de Israel.

And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who smote of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox-goad; and he also saved Israel.
