Jueces 18
1 En aquellos días no había rey en Israel, y en esos días los danitas buscaban una herencia para sí mismos, para ser su lugar de vida; durante ese tiempo no se les había distribuido tierra entre las tribus de Israel.
In those days there is no king in Israel, and in those days the tribe of the Danite is seeking an inheritance to inhabit for itself, for [that] has not fallen to it to that day in the midst of the tribes of Israel by inheritance.
2 Entonces los hijos de Dan enviaron a cinco hombres de entre ellos, hombres fuertes, desde Zora y desde Estaol, para espiar y que explorarán la tierra; Y ellos les dijeron: Vayan a espiar y explorar la tierra; y llegaron a la región montañosa de Efraín, a la casa de Micaías, donde hicieron una parada para pasar la noche.
And the sons of Dan send, out of their family, five of their men—men, sons of valor—from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to traverse the land, and to search it, and they say to them, “Go, search the land”; and they come into the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodge there.
3 Cuando estaban cerca de la casa de Micaías, oyendo una voz que no era extraña para ellos, la del joven levita, salieron de su camino a su casa y le dijeron: ¿Cómo has venido aquí? y qué haces en este lugar y porque estas aqui.
They [are] with the household of Micah, and they have discerned the voice of the young man, the Levite, and turn aside there, and say to him, “Who has brought you here? And what are you doing in this [place]? And why are you here?”
4 Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que Micaias hizo por mí, y él me pagó y me convertí en su sacerdote.
And he says to them, “Thus and thus has Micah done to me; and he hires me, and I am for a priest to him.”
5 Luego dijeron: Pregunta dirección de Dios para nosotros, para ver si el viaje en el que vamos tendrá un buen resultado.
And they say to him, “Please ask of God, and we know whether our way on which we are going is prosperous.”
6 Y el sacerdote les dijo: Vayan en paz; su camino es guiado por el Señor.
And the priest says to them, “Go in peace; before YHWH [is] your way in which you go.”
7 Luego los cinco hombres siguieron su camino y fueron a Lais y vieron a las personas que estaban allí, viviendo sin pensar en el peligro, como los sidonios, tranquilos y seguros; porque tenían todo en la tierra para sus necesidades, y estaban lejos de los sidonios y no tenían ningún negocio con nadie.
And the five men go, and come to Laish, and see the people which [is] in its midst, dwelling confidently, according to the custom of Zidonians, quiet and confident; and there is none putting to shame in the land in [any] thing, possessing restraint, and they [are] far off from the Zidonians, and have no word with [any] man.
8 Entonces volvieron a sus hermanos en Zora y Estaol, y sus hermanos les dijeron: ¿Qué noticias tienes?
And they come to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brothers say to them, “What [did] you [find]?”
9 Y ellos respondieron: ¡Arriba! Y vayamos contra Lais; Porque hemos visto la tierra, y es muy buena: ¿Que esperas, por qué no haces nada? No te demores en entrar y tomar la tierra por tu herencia.
And they say, “Rise, and we go up against them, for we have seen the land, and behold—very good; and you are keeping silent! Do not be slothful to go—to enter to possess the land.
10 Cuando vayan allí, llegarán a un pueblo que vive sin pensar en el peligro; y la tierra es amplia, y Dios la ha entregado en sus manos: un lugar donde hay toda en la tierra para las necesidades del hombre.
When you go, you come to a confident people, and the land [is] large on both hands, for God has given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything which [is] in the land.”
11 Entonces, seiscientos hombres de los danitas de Zora y Estaol salieron armados con instrumentos de guerra.
And there journey there, of the family of the Danite, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, six hundred men girded with weapons of war.
12 Y subieron y pusieron sus campamentos en Quiriat-jearim en Judá; por eso ese lugar se llama Mahane-dan hasta hoy. Está al oeste de Quiriat-jearim.
And they go up and encamp in Kirjath-Jearim, in Judah, therefore they have called that place, “Camp of Dan,” until this day; behold, behind Kirjath-Jearim.
13 De allí se dirigieron a la región montañosa de Efraín y llegaron a la casa de Micaías.
And they pass over there [to] the hill-country of Ephraim, and come to the house of Micah.
14 Entonces los cinco hombres que habían ido a hacer una búsqueda por el país de Lais dijeron a sus hermanos: ¿Saben que en estas casas hay un efod y dioses de la familia, una imagen tallada y una imagen de metal? Así que ahora considera qué hacer.
And the five men, those going to traverse the land of Laish, answer and say to their brothers, “Have you known that in these houses there is an ephod, and teraphim, and carved image, and molten image? And now, know what you do.”
15 Y saliendo de su camino, vinieron a la casa del joven levita, la casa de Micaías, y le dijeron: ¿Te parece bien?
And they turn aside there, and come to the house of the young man, the Levite, the house of Micah, and ask of him of welfare—
16 Y los seiscientos hombres armados de los daneses tomaron sus lugares junto a la puerta.
(and the six hundred men girded with their weapons of war, who [are] of the sons of Dan, are standing at the opening of the gate)—
17 Luego, los cinco hombres que habían ido a hacer una búsqueda por la tierra, entraron y tomaron la imagen tallada y el efod y los dioses de la familia y la imagen fundida; y el sacerdote estaba junto a la puerta con los seiscientos hombres armados.
indeed, the five men, those going to traverse the land, go up—they have come in there—they have taken the carved image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image—and the priest is standing at the opening of the gate, and the six hundred men who are girded with weapons of war—
18 Y cuando entraron en la casa de Micaías y sacaron la imagen tallada y el efod y los dioses de la familia y la imagen fundida, el sacerdote les dijo: ¿Qué están haciendo?
indeed, these have entered the house of Micah, and take the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image; and the priest says to them, “What are you doing?”
19 Y ellos le dijeron: Cállate; no digas nada, ven con nosotros y sé nuestro padre y sacerdote; ¿Es mejor para ti ser sacerdote de la casa de un hombre o ser sacerdote de una tribu y una familia en Israel?
And they say to him, “Keep silent, lay your hand on your mouth, and go with us, and be for a father and for a priest to us: is it better your being a priest for the house of one man, or your being priest for a tribe and for a family in Israel?”
20 Entonces se alegró el corazón del sacerdote, y tomó el efod y los dioses de la familia y la imagen tallada y se fue con la gente.
And the heart of the priest is glad, and he takes the ephod, and the teraphim, and the carved image, and goes into the midst of the people,
21 Volvieron a emprender el camino y pusieron delante de ellos a los pequeños, a los bueyes y a los bienes.
and they turn and go, and put the infants, and the livestock, and the baggage, before them.
22 Cuando se habían alejado de la casa de Micaías, los hombres de las casas cercanas a la casa de Miquea se reunieron y tomaron a los hijos de Dan.
They have been far off from the house of Micah—and the men who [are] in the houses which [are] near the house of Micah have been called together, and overtake the sons of Dan,
23 Gritándoles. Y los daneses, volviéndose, dijeron a Micaías: ¿Cuál es tu problema, que has tomado las armas?
and call to the sons of Dan, and they turn their faces around, and say to Micah, “What [is this] to you that you have been called together?”
24 Y él dijo: Tú tomaste los dioses que yo hice, y mi sacerdote, y te fuiste; ¿Qué hay para mí ahora? ¿Por qué entonces me dices, ¿cuál es tu problema?
And he says, “You have taken my gods which I made, and the priest, and you go; and what more do I [have]? And what [is] this you say to me, What [is this] to you?”
25 Y los hijos de Dan le dijeron: No digas más, o uno de los nuestros se enfurezca y pueda atacarte, causando la pérdida de tu vida y la de tu gente.
And the sons of Dan say to him, “Do not let your voice be heard with us, lest men bitter in soul fall on you, and you have gathered your life, and the life of your household”;
26 Entonces los hijos de Dan siguieron su camino; y cuando Micaias vio que eran más fuertes que él, volvió a su casa.
and the sons of Dan go on their way, and Micah sees that they are stronger than he, and turns, and goes back to his house.
27 Y tomaron lo que Micaías había hecho, y su sacerdote, y fueron a Lais, a un pueblo que vivía en silencio y sin pensar en el peligro, y los metieron a la espada sin piedad, quemando su ciudad.
And they have taken that which Micah had made, and the priest whom he had, and come in against Laish, against a people quiet and confident, and strike them by the mouth of the sword, and have burned the city with fire,
28 Y no tenían salvador, porque estaba lejos de Sidón, y no tenían negocios con Aram; y estaba en el valle que es propiedad de Bet-rehob. Y reconstruyendo la ciudad, la tomaron para vivir.
and there is no deliverer, for it [is] far off from Sidon, and they have no word with [any] man, and it [is] in the valley which [is] by Beth-Rehob; and they build the city, and dwell in it,
29 Y le dieron a la ciudad el nombre de Dan, así como Dan su padre, que era hijo de Israel: aunque la ciudad había sido nombrada Lais al principio.
and call the name of the city Dan, by the name of their father Dan, who was born to Israel; and yet Laish [is] the name of the city at the first.
30 Y los hijos de Dan levantaron para sí la imagen de talla; y Jonatán, el hijo de Gersón, el hijo de Moisés, y sus hijos, fueron sacerdotes de la tribu de los danitas, hasta el día en que el arca fue tomada prisionera.
And the sons of Dan raise up the carved image for themselves, and Jonathan son of Gershom, son of Manasseh, he and his sons have been priests for the tribe of the Danite, until the day of the expulsion of [the people] of the land.
31 Y tuvieron levantada la imagen de talla que Micaías había hecho, y fue allí todo el tiempo que la casa de Dios estuvo en Silo.
And they appoint for themselves the carved image of Micah, which he had made, all the days of the house of God being in Shiloh.
