Jueces 1

1 Después de la muerte de Josué, los hijos de Israel hicieron una petición al Señor, diciendo: ¿Quién subirá primero para hacer la guerra por nosotros contra los cananeos?

And it came to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel asked of Yahweh, saying, —Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites, first, to make war upon them?

2 Y él Señor dijo: Judá tiene que subir; mira, he entregado la tierra en sus manos.

And Yahweh said—Judah, shall go, —lo! I have delivered the land into his power.

3 Entonces Judá dijo a su hermano Simeón: Ven conmigo a mi herencia, para que podamos hacer guerra contra los cananeos; y luego iré contigo a tu herencia. Así que Simeón fue con él.

Then said Judah, unto Simeon his brother—Come up with me into the territory allotted me, and let us make war on the Canaanites, then will, I also, go with thee, into thy territory. So Simeon went with him.

4 Y subió Judá; y el Señor entregó a los cananeos y a los ferezeos en sus manos; y vencieron a diez mil de ellos en Bezec.

And Judah went up, and Yahweh delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, —and they smote them in Bezek, ten thousand men.

5 Y se encontraron con Adoni-Bezec, y le hicieron la guerra; y vencieron a los cananeos y los ferezeos.

And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek, and fought with him, —and smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

6 Pero Adoni-Bezec salió en vuelo; y fueron tras él y lo alcanzaron, y le cortaron los pulgares y los dedos de los pies.

But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued him, —and took him, and cut off his thumbs, and his great toes.

7 Y Adoni-Bezec dijo: Setenta reyes, cuyos pulgares y dedos de los pies grandes yo les corté, los hice recoger las sobras debajo de mi mesa: como lo he hecho, así lo ha hecho Dios conmigo por completo. Y lo llevaron a Jerusalén, y allí llegó a su fin.

Then said Adoni-bezek—Seventy kings, with their thumbs and great toes cut off, have been picking up crumbs under my table, as I have done, so, hath God requited me. And they brought him into Jerusalem, and he died there.

8 Entonces los hijos de Judá atacaron Jerusalén y la tomaron, incendiando la ciudad después de que hubieran arrojado espada a su pueblo sin piedad.

And the sons of Judah made war upon Jerusalem, and captured it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, —and, the city, they set on fire.

9 Después de eso, los hijos de Judá bajaron para hacer la guerra a los cananeos que viven en la región montañosa y en el sur y en las tierras bajas.

And, afterwards, the sons of Judah went down to make war upon the Canaanites, —dwelling in the hill country, and in the south, and in the lowland.

10 Fueron contra los cananeos de Hebrón: ahora, en tiempos anteriores, a Hebrón se le llamaba Quiriat-arba; y puso a espada a Sesai, Ahimán y Talmai.

And Judah went against the Canaanites who were dwelling in Hebron, now, the name of Hebron, formerly, was Kiriath-arba, —and they smote Sheshai and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 Y desde allí subió contra la gente de Debir. Ahora el nombre de Debir en tiempos anteriores era Quiriat-sefer.

And he went from thence, against the inhabitants of Debir, —now, the name of Debir, formerly, was Kiriath-sepher.

12 Y Caleb dijo: Daré a Acsa, mi hija, como esposa al hombre que vence a Quiriat-sefer y la tomare.

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and captureth it, I will give unto him Achsah my daughter, to wife.

13 Y Otoniel, el hijo de Cenaz, el hermano menor de Caleb, lo tomó; por eso le dio a su hija Acsa por su esposa.

Then Othniel, son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, captured it, —and he gave him Achsah his daughter, to wife.

14 Cuando ella se acercó a él, él le hizo pensar en la idea de pedirle a su padre un campo: y ella se bajó de su asno; y Caleb le dijo: ¿Qué deseas?

And it came pass, when she came, that she moved him to ask of her father a field, and, when she alighted from off the ass, Caleb said unto her—What aileth thee?

15 Y ella le dijo: Dame una bendición; Porque me has puesto en una tierra seca del sur, ahora dame manantiales de agua. Así que Caleb le dio el manantial de arriba y los manantiales de abajo.

And she said unto him—Give me a present; for, south land, hast thou given me, give me therefore pools of water. So Caleb gave her Upper-pools, and Lower-pools.

16 Ahora, Hobab el ceneo, el suegro de Moisés, había subido del pueblo de palmeras, con los hijos de Judá, a la tierra desierto de Arad; y fue y vivió entre los amalecitas;

Now, the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, had come up from the city of palm-trees, with the sons of Judah, into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad, —so they went and dwelt with the people.

17 Judá fue con su hermano Simeón, y venció a los cananeos que vivían en Zefat, y los puso bajo la maldición. y le dio a la ciudad el nombre de Horma.

Then went Judah, with Simeon his brother, and they smote the Canaanites dwelling in Zephath, —and devoted it to destruction, and the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 Entonces Judá tomó Gaza y su límite, y Ascalon y su límite, y Ecrón y su límite.

And Judah captured Gaza with the boundaries thereof, and Ashkelon, with the boundaries thereof, —and Ekron, with the boundaries thereof.

19 Y él Señor estaba con Judá; y tomó la región montañosa por su herencia; pero no pudo hacer salir a la gente del valle, porque tenían carruajes de guerra de hierro.

And it same to pass that Yahweh was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, —but did not dispossess the inhabitants of the vale, because they had, chariots of iron.

20 Y dieron Hebrón a Caleb, como Moisés había dicho; y tomó la tierra de los tres hijos de Anac, echándolos de allí.

So they gave unto Caleb Hebron, as spake Moses, —and he drave out from thence the three sons of Anak.

21 Y los hijos de Judá no hicieron salir a los jebuseos que vivían en Jerusalén; los jebuseos todavía viven con los hijos de Benjamín en Jerusalén.

But, the Jebusites dwelling in Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin did not drive out, —but the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, unto this day.

22 Y la familia de José subió contra Bet-el, y el Señor estaba con ellos.

Then went up the house of Joseph—they also, —unto Bethel, —and, Yahweh, was with them.

23 Entonces enviaron hombres a espiar a Bet-el. ciudad en tiempos anteriores era Luz.

And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel, —now, the name of the city, formerly, was, Luz.

24 Y los vigilantes vieron a un hombre salir de la ciudad y le dijeron: Si nos explicas el camino hacia la ciudad, y haremos misericordia contigo.

So the watchers saw a man, coming forth from the city, —and they said unto him—Shew us, we pray thee, the way to get into the city, and we will deal with thee, in lovingkindness.

25 Entonces les dejó claro el camino al pueblo, y se lo pusieron a la espada; Pero dejaron escapar al hombre y toda su familia a salvo.

And he shewed them the way to get into the city, and they smote the city, with the edge of the sword, —but, the man and all his family, they let go.

26 Y se fue a la tierra de los hititas, construyendo una ciudad allí y llamándola Luz: como se llama hasta hoy.

And the man went into the land of the Hittites, —and built a city, and called the name thereof, Luz, that, is the name thereof, unto this day.

27 Y ​​Manasés no quitó la tierra de la gente de Bet-seán y sus aldeas, o de Taanac y sus aldeas, o de la gente de Dor y sus aldeas, o de la gente de Ibleam y sus aldeas, o de la gente de Megiddo y sus aldeas, pero los cananeos siguieron viviendo en esa tierra.

But Manasseh took not possession of Beth-shean and her towns, nor of Taanach and her towns, nor dispossessed the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam, and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo, and her towns, —but the Canaanites were determined to remain in this land;

28 Y cuando Israel se hizo fuerte, pusieron a los cananeos a trabajar forzadamente, sin expulsarlos por completo.

when Israel, however, had waxed strong, they put the Canaanites under tribute, —though they, dispossessed, them not.

29 Y Efraín no hizo salir a los cananeos que vivían en Gezer; pero los cananeos siguieron viviendo en Gezer entre ellos.

And, Ephraim, dispossessed not the Canaanites who were dwelling in Gezer, —so the Canaanites remained in their midst, in Gezer.

30 Zabulón no hizo salir a la gente de Quitron o de Naalal; pero los cananeos siguieron viviendo entre ellos y fueron sometidos a trabajos forzados.

Zebulun, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, —but the Canaanites remained in their midst, and came under tribute.

31 Y Aser tampoco pudo echar de la tierra la gente de Acco, Zidon, Ahlab, Aczib, Helbah, Afec o Rehob;

Asher, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, —nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;

32 Pero los aseritas continuaron viviendo entre los cananeos, la gente de la tierra, sin expulsarlos.

but the Asherites dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, —for they dispossessed them not.

33 Neftalí tampoco pudo echar de la tierra la gente de Bet-semes o de Bet-anat; pero él estaba viviendo entre los cananeos en la tierra; sin embargo, las personas de Bet-Semes y Bet-anat fueron sometidas a trabajos forzados.

Naphtali, dispossessed not the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but they dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, —and, the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, and of Beth-anath, became theirs, under tribute.

34 Y los hijos de Dan fueron obligados a entrar en la región montañosa por los amorreos, que no los dejaron bajar al valle;

And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill country, —for they suffered them not to come down into the vale;

35 Porque los amorreos siguieron viviendo en el monte Heres, en Aijalon y en Saalbim; pero los hijos de José se hicieron más fuertes que ellos, y los pusieron a trabajar forzadamente.

and, though the Amorites were determined to remain in the hill country of Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, yet was the hand of the house of Joseph heavy, so that they came under tribute.

36 Y el límite de los edomitas fue desde la ladera de Acrabim desde Sela y hacia arriba.

And, the boundary of the Amorites, was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela and upwards.
