Josué 1

1 Después de la muerte de Moisés, siervo del Señor, vino la palabra del Señor a Josué, hijo de Nun, ayudante de Moisés, diciendo:

NOW IT came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying:

2 Moisés mi siervo ha muerto; así que ahora levántate! Ve sobre el Jordán, tú y todo este pueblo, a la tierra que les estoy dando, a los hijos de Israel.

'Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Les he dado todo lugar que toquen sus pies, como dije a Moisés.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spoke unto Moses.

4 Desde el desierto hasta la montaña del Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Eufrates y toda la tierra de los hititas hasta el Gran Mar, en el oeste, será su país.

From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

5 Mientras vivas, todos se rendirán ante ti: como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo; No te quitaré mi ayuda ni te daré por vencido.

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Anímate y sé fuerte. porque tú darás a este pueblo por su herencia la tierra que di por juramento a sus padres.

Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I swore unto their fathers to give them.

7 Solo ten valor y firmeza; cuida de hacer toda la ley que Moisés mi siervo te dio, y no gires de ella a la mano derecha ni a la izquierda, para que te vaya bien dondequiera que vayas.

Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest.

8 Deja que este libro de la ley esté siempre en tus labios y en tus pensamientos día y noche, para que puedas hacer todo lo que se te ordena; entonces una bendición estará en tu camino, y todo lo que hagas te saldrá bien.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy ways prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 ¿No te he dado tus órdenes? Anímate y sé fuerte; no tengas miedo y no te preocupes; porque el Señor tu Dios está contigo dondequiera que vayas,

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.'

10 Entonces Josué dio sus órdenes a los que tenían autoridad sobre la gente, diciendo:

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:

11 Vayan a las tiendas y den órdenes a la gente, diciendo: Preparen una provisión de alimentos para ustedes; porque en tres días cruzarán este río Jordán a poseer la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te está dando.

'Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.'

12 Y a los rubenitas, y a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, dijo Josué:

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, spoke Joshua, saying:

13 Ten en cuenta lo que Moisés, el siervo del Señor, les dijo: El Señor su Dios les da reposo y les ha dado esta tierra.

'Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, you, saying: The LORD your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land.

14 Sus esposas, sus pequeños y su ganado serán guardados aquí en la tierra que Moisés les dio a este lado del Jordán; pero ustedes, los combatientes, deben pasar delante de sus hermanos, armados, para ayudarlos;

Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them;

15 Hasta que el Señor les de reposo, como se los ha dado a ustedes, y han tomado su herencia en la tierra que el Señor su Dios les está dando: entonces regresarás a la tierra de su herencia que Moisés, el siervo del Señor, te dio en el lado este del Jordán.

until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as unto you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them; then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising.'

16 Entonces le respondieron a Josué: Lo que nos digas, lo haremos, y donde nos envíes, iremos.

And they answered Joshua, saying: 'All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go.

17 Como le prestamos atención a Moisés en todas las cosas, así te haremos caso; y que el Señor tu Dios esté contigo como lo fue con Moisés.

According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only the LORD thy God be with thee, as He was with Moses.

18 Cualquiera que vaya en contra de tus órdenes, y no le preste atención a todas tus palabras, será condenado a muerte. Solo ten valor y firmeza.

Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death; only be strong and of good courage.'
