Josué 6
1 Ahora bien, Jericó estaba cerrada, asegurada para defenderla de los hijos de Israel; no salían ni entraban.
Now all the entrances to Jericho were closed because of the army of Israel. No one went out and no one came in.
2 Y él Señor dijo a Josué: Mira, he entregado en tus manos a Jericó con su rey y todos sus hombres de guerra.
Yahweh said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hand, its king, and its trained soldiers.
3 Ahora, dejen que todos sus hombres de guerra hagan un círculo alrededor de la ciudad, dando vueltas alrededor una vez. Hagan esto durante seis días.
You must march around the city, all the men of war going around the city one time. You must do this for six days.
4 Y que siete sacerdotes vayan ante él cofre del pacto con siete cuernos de carnero en sus manos: en el séptimo día, debes ir por el pueblo siete veces, los sacerdotes tocarán sus cuernos.
Seven priests must carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you must march around the city seven times, and the priests must sound blasts on the trumpets.
5 Y ante el sonido de una larga nota en los cuernos, que todos griten fuertemente; y la muralla de la ciudad se derrumbará, y toda la gente deberá avanzar.
Then they must sound a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet all the people must shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat. The soldiers must attack, each one going straight ahead.”
6 Entonces Josué, el hijo de Nun, mandó llamar a los sacerdotes y les dijo: Tomen él cofre del pacto y deja que siete sacerdotes tomen siete cuernos en sus manos y vayan delante del cofre del pacto el Señor.
Then Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark of Yahweh.”
7 Y dijo a la gente: Vayan adelante, rodeen la ciudad y dejen que los hombres armados vayan delante del cofre del pacto del Señor.
He said to the people, “Go over and march around the city, and the armed men will go ahead of the ark of Yahweh.”
8 Entonces, después de que Josué hubo dicho esto a la gente, los siete sacerdotes con sus siete cuernos avanzaron delante del Señor, soplando sobre sus cuernos, y el cofre del pacto del Señor fue tras ellos.
Just as Joshua had said to the people, the seven priests carried the seven trumpets of rams' horns before Yahweh. As they advanced, they gave a blast on the trumpets. The ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed after them.
9 Y los hombres armados iban delante de los sacerdotes que estaban tocando los cuernos, y la retaguardia de la gente fue tras él cofre del pacto, mientras los sacerdotes continuaban tocando sus cuernos.
Armed men walked before the priests, and they made a blast on their trumpets, but then the rear guard walked up behind the ark, and the priests blew their trumpets continually.
10 Y a la gente Josué dio una orden, diciendo: No gritarán, ni harán sonido alguno, y no dejen salir ninguna palabra de su boca hasta el día en que yo diga: Griten fuerte; entonces den un grito fuerte.
But Joshua commanded the people, saying, “Do not shout. No sound must leave your mouths until the day I tell you to shout. Only then you must shout.”
11 Hizo que el cofre del pacto del Señor diera una vuelta por el pueblo una vez; luego volvieron a las tiendas para pasar la noche.
So he caused the ark of Yahweh to go around the city one time that day. Then they entered their camp, and they stayed the night in the camp.
12 Y temprano en la mañana se levantó Josué, y los sacerdotes tomaron el cofre del pacto del Señor.
Then Joshua got up early in the morning, and the priests picked up the ark of Yahweh.
13 Y los siete sacerdotes con sus siete cuernos continuaron delante del cofre del pacto del Señor, tocando sus cuernos; los hombres armados fueron delante de ellos, y los hombres de guerra fue tras el arca del Señor, tocando sus cuernos.
The seven priests, who were carrying the seven trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark of Yahweh, walked steadily and gave blasts on the trumpets. Armed soldiers were walking in front of them. But when the rear guard walked after the ark of Yahweh, then the trumpets gave out continual blasts.
14 El segundo día marcharon alrededor del pueblo una vez, y luego regresaron a sus tiendas, y así lo hicieron durante seis días.
They marched around the city one time the second day and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.
15 Al séptimo día se levantaron temprano, al amanecer del día, y marcharon alrededor de la ciudad de la misma manera, pero ese día la rodearon siete veces.
It was on the seventh day that they got up early at daybreak, and they marched around the city in the same way that was their pattern, this time for seven times. It was on this day that they marched around the city seven times.
16 Y la séptima vez, al sonido de los cuernos de los sacerdotes, Josué dijo a la gente: Ahora griten fuerte; porque el Señor les ha dado el pueblo.
It was on the seventh day, when the priests gave a blast with the trumpets, that Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For Yahweh has given you the city.
17 Y el pueblo será sometido a la destrucción, y todo lo que en él se le dará al Señor: sólo Rahab, la mujer prostituta, y todos los que están en la casa con ella, se mantendrán a salvo, porque ella mantuvo el secreto los hombres que enviamos.
The city and all that is in it will be set apart to Yahweh for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute will live—she and all the ones with her in her house—because she hid the men we sent.
18 Y en cuanto a ustedes, manténganse alejados de ciudad que él Señor ha ordenado destruir, por temor a que puedan desearlos y tomen parte de ellos, y así sean causa de una maldición y grandes problemas en las tiendas de Israel.
But as for you, be on guard about taking the things set apart for destruction, so that after you mark them for destruction, you do not then take any of them. If you do this, you will make the camp of Israel something that must be destroyed and you will bring trouble on it.
19 Pero toda la plata y el oro y los vasos de bronce y hierro son santos para el Señor: han de entrar en la tesorería del Señor.
All the silver, gold, and the things made of bronze and iron are set apart to Yahweh. They must go into the treasury of Yahweh.”
20 Entonces la gente dio un fuerte grito, y sonaron los cuernos; y al oír los cuernos, la gente dio un fuerte grito, y la pared se derrumbó, de modo que la gente subió a la ciudad, todos los hombres derecho hacia adelante, y tomaron la ciudad.
When they gave blasts with the trumpets, the people gave a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so every man charged straight in and captured the city.
21 Y pusieron todo en el pueblo a la destrucción; Hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y viejos, bueyes y ovejas y asnos, mueren a filo de espada.
They completely destroyed all that was in the city by the edge of the sword—man and woman, young and old, oxen, sheep and donkeys.
22 Entonces Josué dijo a los dos hombres que habían sido enviados que hicieran una búsqueda por la tierra: Entra en la casa de la mujer prostituta y sácala, y a todos los que están con ella, como tú le diste tu juramento.
Then Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute's house. Bring out the woman and all who are with her, as you swore to her.”
23 Entonces los buscadores entraron y sacaron a Rahab, a su padre, a su madre, a sus hermanos y todo lo que tenía, y ellos sacaron a toda su familia; y los sacaron de las tiendas de Israel.
So the young men who had been spies went in and brought Rahab out. They brought out her father, mother, brothers, and all the relatives that were with her. They brought them to a place outside the camp of Israel.
24 Luego, después de quemar la ciudad y todo lo que había en ella, pusieron la plata y el oro y las vasijas de bronce y hierro en el almacén de la casa del Señor.
They burned the city and everything in it. Only the silver, gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron were put into the treasury of the house of Yahweh.
25 Pero Josué salvó la vida a Rahab, a la mujer prostituta, y a la familia de su padre y todo lo que ella tenía, y así se ganó un lugar de vida entre los hijos de Israel hasta el día de hoy; porque ella mantuvo a salvo a los hombres que Josué había enviado para hacer una búsqueda por la tierra.
But Joshua allowed Rahab the prostitute, her father's household, and all that were with her to live. She lives in Israel to this day because she hid the men whom Joshua sent to spy on Jericho.
26 Entonces Josué dio órdenes al pueblo con un juramento, diciendo: Que el hombre sea maldecido ante el Señor que pone su mano en la reedificación de este pueblo: con la pérdida de su primer hijo pondrá la primera piedra de la misma en su lugar, y con la pérdida de su hijo menor, él levantará sus puertas.
Then Joshua commanded them at that time with an oath, and he said, “Cursed is the man in Yahweh's sight who rebuilds this city, Jericho. At the cost of his firstborn son, he will lay the foundation, and at the cost of his youngest son, he will set up its gates.”
27 Así que el Señor estaba con Josué; Y noticias de él fueron por toda la tierra.
So Yahweh was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.
