Josué 5

1 Cuando llegaron las noticias a todos los reyes de los amorreos en el lado oeste del Jordán, y a todos los reyes de los cananeos que vivían junto al mar, cómo el Señor había secado las aguas del Jordán ante los hijos de Israel hasta que habían cruzado, sus corazones se acobardaron, y no había más valor en ellos, debido a los hijos de Israel.

Therefore, after all the kings of the Amorites, who were living across the Jordan toward the western region, and all the kings of Canaan, who possessed the places beside the great sea, had heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel, until they crossed over it, their heart was broken, and there remained in them no spirit, out of fear at the entrance of the sons of Israel.

2 En ese momento el Señor le dijo a Josué: Hazte unos cuchillos de piedra y dale a los hijos de Israel la circuncisión por segunda vez.

So at that time, the Lord said to Joshua: “Make for yourself knives of stone, and circumcise the sons of Israel a second time.”

3 Y Josué hizo cuchillos de piedra y dio a los hijos de Israel la circuncisión en el monte de aralot.

He did what the Lord had commanded, and he circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.

4 Y esta es la razón por la que Josué lo hizo: todos los hombres de las personas que salieron de Egipto, todos los hombres guerreros, habían sido alcanzados por la muerte en las tierras baldías en el camino, después de que salieron de Egipto.

Now this is the reason for the second circumcision: All the people who departed from Egypt of the male gender, all the men fit for war, died in the desert during the very long wandering way;

5 Todas las personas que salieron fueron sometidas a circuncisión; pero no todas las personas cuyo nacimiento había tenido lugar en el desierto en su viaje desde Egipto.

all these had been circumcised. But the people who were born in the desert,

6 Porque los hijos de Israel estuvieron vagando en el desierto durante cuarenta años, hasta que toda la nación, es decir, todos los hombres de guerra que habían salido de Egipto, estaban muertos, porque no escucharon la voz del Señor: a quienes el Señor dijo, con un juramento, que no les permitiría ver la tierra que el Señor había prometido a sus padres que les daría, una tierra que fluye con leche y miel.

throughout the forty years of the journey in the very broad wilderness, were uncircumcised, until the ones who had not listened to the voice of the Lord were consumed. For he had sworn to them before, that he would not reveal to them the land flowing with milk and honey.

7 Y sus hijos, que subieron en su lugar, ahora fueron sometidos a la circuncisión por las manos de Josué, que no la habían tenido antes, porque no había habido circuncisión en el viaje.

The sons of these ones succeeded to the place of their fathers, and they were circumcised by Joshua. For they were uncircumcised, just as they had been born, and no one had circumcised them along the way.

8 Entonces, cuando toda la nación se había sometido a la circuncisión, se mantuvieron en sus tiendas hasta que estuvieron bien otra vez.

Then, after they were all circumcised, they remained in the same place of the camp until they were healed.

9 Y Él Señor dijo a Josué: Hoy se ha apartado de ti la vergüenza de Egipto. Así que ese lugar se llamaba Gilgal, hasta hoy.

And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have taken away from you the disgrace of Egypt.” And the name of that place was called Gilgal, even to the present day.

10 Entonces los hijos de Israel levantaron sus tiendas en Gilgal; y celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes, por la tarde, en las tierras bajas de Jericó.

And the sons of Israel stayed at Gilgal, and they kept the Passover, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, in the plains of Jericho.

11 Y el día después de la Pascua, tenían para su alimento el producto de la tierra, pasteles sin levadura y grano seco en el mismo día.

And on the following day, they ate unleavened bread from the grain of the land, and cooked grain, of the same year.

12 Y no hubo más maná desde el día después de que tuvieran para su alimento el producto de la tierra; los hijos de Israel ya no tenían maná, pero ese año el producto de la tierra de Canaán fue su alimento.

And the manna ceased after they ate from the grain of the land. And the sons of Israel no longer made use of that food. Instead, they ate from the grain of the present year, from the land of Canaan.

13 Cuando Josué estaba cerca de Jericó, alzando los ojos, vio a un hombre delante de él, con la espada descubierta en la mano, y Josué se le acercó y le dijo: ¿Estás con nosotros o contra nosotros?

And when Joshua was in the field of the city of Jericho, he lifted up his eyes, and he saw a man standing opposite him, holding a drawn sword. And he went to him and said, “Are you one of ours, or one of our adversaries?”

14 Y él respondió: No; pero he venido como capitán de los ejércitos del Señor. Entonces Josué, cayendo con su rostro hacia la tierra en adoración, dijo: ¿Qué tiene que decirle mi señor a su siervo?

And he responded: “Not at all. Instead, I am a prince of the host of the Lord, and now I have arrived.” Joshua fell prone on the ground. And reverencing, he said, “What does my lord say to his servant?”

15 Y el capitán del ejército del Señor le dijo a Josué: Quítate los zapatos de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo. Y Josué lo hizo.

He said: “Remove your shoes from your feet. For the place on which you stand is holy.” And Joshua did just as he had been commanded.
