Josué 24
1 Entonces Josué reunió a todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem; y envió por los hombres responsables de Israel y sus jefes y sus jueces y sus supervisores; y tomaron su lugar delante de Dios.
And Joshua gathers all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and calls for [the] elderly of Israel, and for his heads, and for his judges, and for his authorities, and they station themselves before God.
2 Y Josué dijo a todo el pueblo: Estas son las palabras del Señor, el Dios de Israel: En el pasado, tus padres, Taré, el padre de Abraham y el padre de Nahor, vivían al otro lado del río: y estaban adorando a otros dioses.
And Joshua says to all the people, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Beyond the River your fathers have dwelt of old—Terah father of Abraham and father of Nachor—and they serve other gods;
3 Y tomé a su padre Abraham del otro lado del río, guiándolo por toda la tierra de Canaán; Hice que su descendencia fuera grande en número, y le di a Isaac.
and I take your father Abraham from beyond the River, and cause him to go through all the land of Canaan, and multiply his seed, and give Isaac to him.
4 Y a Isaac le di a Jacob y a Esaú; a Esaú le di al monte Seir, como su herencia; pero Jacob y sus hijos descendieron a Egipto.
And I give Jacob and Esau to Isaac; and I give Mount Seir to Esau, to possess it; and Jacob and his sons have gone down to Egypt.
5 Y envié a Moisés y a Aarón, herí a Egipto por todas las señales que hice entre ellos; y después de eso los saqué.
And I send Moses and Aaron, and plague Egypt, as I have done in its midst, and afterward I have brought you out.
6 Saqué a sus padres de Egipto; y cuando llegaron al Mar Rojo; y los egipcios vinieron tras sus padres al Mar Rojo, con sus carros de guerra y sus jinetes.
And I bring out your fathers from Egypt, and you go to the sea, and the Egyptians pursue after your fathers, with chariot and with horsemen, to the Red Sea;
7 Y ante su clamor, el Señor oscureció entre ustedes y los egipcios, e hizo que el mar los cubriera, cubriéndolos con sus aguas; Sus ojos han visto lo que hice en Egipto, durante mucho tiempo estuvieron viviendo en el desierto.
and they cry to YHWH, and He sets thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brings the sea over him, and covers them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and you dwell in a wilderness [for] many days.
8 Y los llevé a las tierras de los amorreos al otro lado del Jordán; Y les hicieron guerra, y yo los entregué en sus manos, y ustedes tomaron su tierra; y envié destrucción sobre ellos delante de ustedes.
And I bring you into the land of the Amorite who is dwelling beyond the Jordan, and they fight with you, and I give them into your hand, and you possess their land, and I destroy them out of your presence.
9 Entonces Balac, hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, subió a la guerra contra Israel; y mandó llamar a Balaam, hijo de Beor, para que los maldijera:
And Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, rises and fights against Israel, and sends and calls for Balaam son of Beor, to revile you,
10 Pero no escuché a Balaam; Y así los fui bendiciendo repetidamente y los mantuve a salvo de él.
and I have not been willing to listen to Balaam, and he greatly blesses you, and I deliver you out of his hand.
11 Luego pasaron por el Jordán y vinieron a Jericó; y los hombres de Jericó te hicieron la guerra: amorreos, ferezeos, cananeos, hititas, gergeseos, a los heveos, a los jebuseos, y los entregué a tus manos.
And you pass over the Jordan, and come to Jericho, and the possessors of Jericho fight against you—the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite—and I give them into your hand.
12 Y envié el avispón delante de ustedes, expulsando a los dos reyes de los amorreos delante de ustedes, no con tu espada ni con tu arco.
And I send the hornet before you, and it casts them out from your presence—two kings of the Amorite—not by your sword, nor by your bow.
13 Y les di una tierra en la que no habían hecho ningún trabajo, y pueblos que no edificaron, y ahora estás viviendo en ellos; y su comida proviene de viñedos y olivares que no plantaron.
And I give a land to you for which you have not labored, and cities which you have not built, and you dwell in them; you are eating of vineyards and olive-yards which you have not planted.
14 Ahora, pues, teme al Señor y sé sus siervos con un corazón verdadero: quita de entre ustedes a los dioses adorados por sus padres al otro lado del río y en Egipto, y sé siervos del Señor.
And now, fear YHWH, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve YHWH;
15 Y si te parece mal ser siervos del Señor, toma hoy la decisión de quién serán siervos: de los dioses cuyos siervos sus padres cruzaron el río, o de los dioses de los amorreos en cuya tierra viven: pero yo y mi casa seremos siervos del Señor.
and if [it is] wrong in your eyes to serve YHWH—choose for yourselves today whom you serve—whether the gods whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorite in whose land you are dwelling; but me and my house—we serve YHWH.”
16 Entonces el pueblo en respuesta dijo: Nunca renunciaremos al Señor para ser siervos de otros dioses;
And the people answer and say, “Far be it from us to forsake YHWH, to serve other gods;
17 Porque es el Señor nuestro Dios quien nos sacó a nosotros y a nuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, de la prisión, y que hizo todas esas grandes señales ante nuestros ojos, y nos mantuvo a salvo en todos nuestros viajes, y entre todos los pueblos por los que pasamos:
for our God YHWH [is] He who is bringing us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants, and who has done these great signs before our eyes, and keeps us in all the way in which we have gone, and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed;
18 Y el Señor envió de delante de nosotros a todos los pueblos, los amorreos que vivían aquí, por todo esto, así seremos siervos del Señor, porque él es nuestro Dios.
and YHWH casts out the whole of the peoples, even the Amorite inhabiting the land, from our presence; we also serve YHWH, for He [is] our God.”
19 Y Josué dijo al pueblo: Tú no puedes ser el servidor del Señor, porque él es un Dios santo, un Dios que no permitirá que su honor sea entregado a otro: no tendrá piedad de sus maldades o sus pecados.
And Joshua says to the people, “You are not able to serve YHWH, for He [is] a most holy God; He [is] a zealous God; He does not bear with your transgression and with your sins.
20 Si se apartan del Señor y se convierten en siervos de dioses extraños, entonces él se volverá contra ustedes y les hará mal, y los destruirá, a pesar de que les haya hecho bien.
When you forsake YHWH, and have served gods of a stranger, then He has turned back and done harm to you, and consumed you, after that He has done good to you.”
21 Y la gente dijo a Josué: ¡No! Pero seremos siervos del Señor.
And the people say to Joshua, “No, but we serve YHWH!”
22 Y Josué dijo al pueblo: Son ustedes testigos contra ustedes mismos de haber tomado la decisión de ser siervos del Señor. Y ellos dijeron: Si, somos testigos.
And Joshua says to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves, that you have chosen YHWH for yourselves, to serve Him,” and they say, “Witnesses!”
23 Entonces, él dijo, quiten los dioses extraños que hay entre ustedes, volviendo sus corazones al Señor, el Dios de Israel.
“And now, turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and incline your heart to YHWH, God of Israel.”
24 Y el pueblo dijo a Josué: Seremos siervos del Señor nuestro Dios, y oiremos su voz.
And the people say to Joshua, “We serve our God YHWH, and we listen to His voice.”
25 Y Josué llegó a un acuerdo con el pueblo ese día, y les dio una regla y una ley en Siquem.
And Joshua makes a covenant with the people on that day, and lays a statute and an ordinance on it, in Shechem.
26 Y Josué dejó estas palabras en el registro, escribiéndolas en el libro de la ley de Dios; y tomó una gran piedra, y la puso allí debajo del roble que estaba en el lugar santo del Señor.
And Joshua writes these words in the Scroll of the Law of God, and takes a great stone, and raises it up there under the oak which [is] in the sanctuary of YHWH.
27 Y Josué dijo a todo el pueblo: Mira ahora, esta piedra debe ser un testigo contra nosotros; porque todas las palabras del Señor se nos han dicho, ella las ha escuchado hoy. Así será un testimonio contra ustedes si son falsos al Señor su Dios.
And Joshua says to all the people, “Behold, this stone is for a witness against us, for it has heard all the sayings of YHWH which He has spoken with us, and it has been for a witness against you, lest you lie against your God.”
28 Entonces Josué dejó que la gente se fuera, cada uno a su herencia.
And Joshua sends the people away, each to his inheritance.
29 Después de estas cosas, ocurrió la muerte de Josué, el hijo de Nun, el siervo del Señor, que tenía entonces ciento diez años.
And it comes to pass, after these things, that Joshua son of Nun, servant of YHWH, dies, a son of one hundred and ten years,
30 Y lo enterraron en la tierra de su herencia en Timnat-sera, en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte del Monte Gaas.
and they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Serah, which [is] in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the hill of Gaash.
31 E Israel fue fiel al Señor todos los días de Josué, y todos los días de los hombres mayores que aún vivían después de la muerte de Josué, y habían visto lo que el Señor había hecho por Israel.
And Israel serves YHWH all [the] days of Joshua, and all [the] days of the elderly who prolonged days after Joshua, and who knew all the work of YHWH which He did to Israel.
32 Y los huesos de José, que los hijos de Israel habían tomado de Egipto, pusieron en la tierra en Siquem, en la propiedad que Jacob había obtenido de los hijos de Hamor, el padre de Siquem, por cien piezas de plata. Y después se convirtieron en la herencia de los hijos de José.
And the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel brought up out of Egypt, they buried in Shechem, in the portion of the field which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor father of Shechem, with one hundred kesitah; and they are for an inheritance to the sons of Joseph.
33 Entonces tuvo lugar la muerte de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón; y su cuerpo fue enterrado en la colina de Finees, su hijo, que le fue dado en la región montañosa de Efraín.
And Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in a hill of his son Phinehas, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.
