Josué 10
1 Y cuando llegó a oídos de Adoni-zedec, rey de Jerusalén, Josué había tomado a Hai y lo había entregado a la destrucción porque como había hecho con Jericó y su rey, así había hecho con Hai y su rey habían hecho la paz con Israel y vivía entre ellos;
When Adonizedek, the king of Jerusalem, had heard these things, specifically, that Joshua had seized Ai, and had overthrown it, (for just as he had done to Jericho and its king, so did he do to Ai and its king, ) and that the Gibeonites had fled over to Israel, and were now their confederates,
2 Tenía mucho miedo, porque Gabaón era una gran ciudad, como una de las ciudades del rey, más grande que Hai, y de gran realeza, además todos los hombres en ella eran hombres de guerra.
he was very afraid. For Gibeon was a great city, and was one of the royal cities, and was greater than the town of Ai, and all its warriors were very strong.
3 Entonces Adonizedec, rey de Jerusalén, envió a Hoham, rey de Hebrón, a Piream, rey de Jarmut, a Jafía, rey de Laquis, y a Debir, rey de Eglón, diciendo:
Therefore, Adonizedek, the king of Jerusalem, sent to Hoham, the king of Hebron, and to Piram, the king of Jarmuth, and also to Japhia, the king of Lachish, and to Debir, the king of Eglon, saying:
4 Acércate a mí y ayúdame, y hagamos un ataque contra Gabaón, porque han hecho las paces con Josué y los hijos de Israel.
“Ascend to me, and bring troops, so that we may fight against Gibeon. For it has fled over to Joshua and the sons of Israel.”
5 Entonces los cinco reyes de los amorreos, el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón, fueron agrupados, y subieron con todos sus ejércitos y acamparon junto Gabaón e hicieron la guerra contra ella.
And so, having assembled, the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, together with their armies, went up and encamped around Gibeon, laying siege to it.
6 Y los hombres de Gabaón enviaron a Josué al círculo de tiendas de campaña en Gilgal, diciendo: No tarden en enviar ayuda a vuestros siervos; Acérquense rápidamente a nuestro apoyo y manténganos seguros: porque todos los reyes de los amorreos de la región montañosa se han unido contra nosotros.
But the inhabitants of the city of Gibeon, when it was besieged, sent to Joshua, who was then staying in the camp at Gilgal. And they said to him: “May you not draw back your hands from helping your servants. Come quickly, and free us, and bring troops. For all the kings of the Amorites, who live in the mountains, have gathered together against us.”
7 Entonces Josué subió de Gilgal con todo su ejército y todos sus hombres de guerra.
And Joshua ascended from Gilgal, and the entire army of warriors with him, very strong men.
8 Y él Señor dijo a Josué: No temas de ellos, porque los he entregado en tus manos; Todos se rendirán ante ti.
And the Lord said to Joshua: “You should not fear them. For I have delivered them into your hands. None of them will be able to withstand you.”
9 Entonces Josué, habiendo subido de Gilgal toda la noche, los atacó repentinamente.
And so Joshua, ascending from Gilgal throughout the night, rushed upon them suddenly.
10 Y el Señor los llenó de temor delante de Israel, y mataron a muchos de ellos en Gabaón, y los siguieron por el camino que subía a Bet-horon, llevándolos de regreso a Azeca y Maceda.
And the Lord set them in disarray before the face of Israel. And he crushed them in a great defeat at Gibeon, and he pursued them along the way of the ascent to Beth-horon, and he struck them down, even as far as Azekah and Makkedah.
11 Y en su huida delante de Israel, en el camino de Bet-horon, el Señor envió sobre ellos grandes piedras de granizo hasta Azeca, causando su muerte: aquellos cuya muerte fue causada por las piedras fueron más que los que los hijos de Israel mataron a espada.
And while they were fleeing from the sons of Israel, and were on the descent of Beth-horon, the Lord cast great stones from heaven upon them, as far as Azekah. And many more were killed by the hailstones, than were struck down by the swords of the sons of Israel.
12 Fue en el día en que el Señor entregó a los amorreos en manos de los hijos de Israel que Josué dijo al Señor, ante los ojos de Israel, al Sol, detente sobre Gabaón; y tú, oh luna, en el valle de Ajalón.
Then Joshua spoke to the Lord, on the day that he handed over the Amorite in the sight of the sons of Israel, and he said before them: “O sun, you shall not move toward Gibeon! O moon, you shall not move toward the valley of Aijalon!”
13 Y el sol se detuvo y la luna mantuvo su lugar hasta que la nación se vengó de sus atacantes. (¿No está registrado en el libro de Jaser?) Así que el sol mantuvo su lugar en medio de los cielos, y no se movió, y no bajó, por el espacio de un día.
And the sun and the moon stood still, until the people had avenged themselves of their enemies. Has this not been written in the book of the just? And so the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and it did not hurry to its rest for the space of one day.
14 Y no hubo un día así, antes o después, cuando el Señor prestó atención a la voz de un hombre; porque el Señor peleaba por Israel.
Never before and never after was there so long a day, as when the Lord obeyed the voice of a man, and fought for Israel.
15 Y Josué, con todo Israel, volvió al campamento de la tienda en Gilgal.
And Joshua returned, with all of Israel, into the camp of Gilgal.
16 Pero estos cinco reyes huyeron en secreto a un agujero en la roca en Maceda.
For the five kings had fled, and had hidden themselves in a cave, near the city of Makkedah.
17 Y se le dijo a Josué que los cinco reyes habían sido hallados en una cueva en Maceda.
And it was reported to Joshua that the five kings had been found hidden in a cave, near the city of Makkedah.
18 Y Josué dijo: Dejen rodar las grandes piedras contra la boca de la cueva, y pongan guardias para que los vigilen.
And he instructed his companions and said: “Roll vast stones to the mouth of the cave, and station attentive men who will keep them closed.
19 Pero ustedes, sin esperar, vayan tras su ejército, atáquenlos por la retaguardia; no dejen que entren en sus pueblos, porque el Señor su Dios los ha entregado en sus manos.
But as for you, do not stay here; instead, pursue the enemies, and cut down the lattermost of those who are fleeing. You shall not permit those whom the Lord God has delivered into your hands to enter into the protection of their cities.”
20 Cuando Josué y los hijos de Israel llegaron al final de su guerra de completa destrucción, y mataron a todos menos a una pequeña banda que se había metido a salvo en las ciudades amuralladas,
Thus, the adversaries were struck down in a great defeat, and having been nearly consumed, even to utter annihilation, those who were able to escape from Israel entered into fortified cities.
21 Todo el pueblo regresó a Josué en el círculo de la tienda de campaña en Maceda en paz: y nadie dijo una palabra contra los hijos de Israel.
And the entire army returned to Joshua at Makkedah, where they were then encamped, in good health and in their full numbers. And no one dared to move his tongue against the sons of Israel.
22 Entonces Josué dijo: Quiten las piedras de la boca de la cueva, y haz que esos cinco reyes vengan a mí.
And Joshua instructed, saying, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forward to me the five kings, who are hidden within it.”
23 Y así lo hicieron, e hicieron que esos cinco reyes salieran de la cueva: el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón.
And the ministers did just as they had been ordered. And they led out to him the five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.
24 Y cuando hicieron salir esos reyes a Josué, Josué envió a todos los hombres de Israel y dijo a los jefes de los hombres de guerra que habían ido con él: Acércate y pon tus pies sobre el cuello de estos reyes Entonces ellos se acercaron y pusieron sus pies sobre sus cuellos.
And when they had been led out to him, he called all the men of Israel, and he said to the leaders of the army who were with him, “Go, and place your feet upon the necks of these kings.” And when they had gone and had tread their feet upon the necks of those who were thrown down,
25 Y Josué les dijo: No temas y no te preocupes; sé fuerte y confiado; porque así hará el Señor a todos contra quienes haces la guerra.
he spoke to them again: “Do not be afraid, and do not dread. Be strengthened and be steadfast. For so will the Lord do to all your enemies, against whom you fight.”
26 Entonces Josué los hizo matar, colgando de ellos en cinco árboles, donde estaban hasta el atardecer.
And Joshua struck them down and killed them, and he suspended them on five gallows. And they hung there until evening.
27 Y cuando el sol se puso, fueron bajados de los árboles, por orden de Josué, y se pusieron en el agujero donde habían ido a estar seguros; y grandes piedras fueron colocadas en la boca del agujero, donde están hasta el día de hoy.
And when the sun had set, he instructed his assistants that they should take them down from the gallows. And having been taken down, they cast them into the cave, where they had lain hidden, and they set vast stones at its mouth, which remain, even to the present.
28 Ese día Josué tomó la ciudad de Maceda, y la destruyó por completo y a su rey; mató a filo de espada a todos los que vivían en ella, e hicieron al rey de Maceda como había hecho al rey de Jericó.
Also on the same day, Joshua seized Makkedah, and he struck it with the edge of the sword, and he put to death its king and all its inhabitants. He did not leave in it even the smallest remains. And he did to the king of Makkedah, just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29 Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él salieron de Maceda y vinieron a Libna, e hicieron un ataque contra ella;
Then he went on, with all of Israel, from Makkedah to Libnah, and he fought against it.
30 Y otra vez el SEÑOR lo dio a él y a su rey en manos de Israel; y él lo puso y cada persona a la espada, hasta que su destrucción fue completa; e hizo a su rey como había hecho al rey de Jericó.
And the Lord delivered it, with its king, into the hands of Israel. And they struck the city with the edge of the sword, and all its inhabitants. They did not leave in it any remains. And they did to the king of Libnah, just as they had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él se fueron de Libna a Laquis, y tomaron su posición en contra de ella e hicieron un ataque contra ella.
From Libnah, with all of Israel, he went on to Lachish. And taking positions around it with his army, he besieged it.
32 Y el Señor entregó a Laquis en manos de Israel, y el segundo día lo tomó y los mataron a filo de espada sin piedad, como había hecho con Libna.
And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hands of Israel, and he seized it on the following day, and he struck it with the edge of the sword, and every soul that was in it, just as he had done to Libnah.
33 Entonces Horam, rey de Gezer, acudió en ayuda de Laquis; y Josué lo venció a él y a su pueblo, matándolos a todos.
At that time, Horam, the king of Gezer, went up so that he might assist Lachish. And Joshua struck him with all his people, even unto utter annihilation.
34 Y Josué y todo Israel con él siguieron de Laquis a Eglón, y tomaron su posición contra ella y la atacaron;
And he went on from Lachish to Eglon, and he surrounded it.
35 Y ese día lo tomaron, poniéndolo junto con cada persona a la espada, como había hecho con Laquis.
And he also defeated it on the same day. And he struck all the souls that were in it with the edge of the sword, in accord with all that he had done to Lachish.
36 Y Josué y todo Israel con él subieron de Eglón a Hebrón, e hicieron un ataque contra él;
He also ascended, with all of Israel, from Eglon into Hebron, and he fought against it.
37 Y lo tomó, lo destruyó los mató junto a su rey y sus pueblos y cada persona que llevaba la espada: como había hecho con Eglón, los mató a todos y los entregó a la destrucción con cada persona en ella.
He seized it and struck it with the edge of the sword, likewise with its king, and all the towns of that region, and all the souls that were staying in it. He did not leave any remains in it. Just as he had done to Eglon, so also did he do to Hebron, consuming with the sword all that he found within it.
38 Y Josué y todo Israel con él fueron a atacar a Debir;
Returning from there to Debir,
39 Y lo tomó, con su rey y todos sus pueblos; y los puso a la espada, destruyendo cada uno de ellos; todos fueron condenados a muerte: como había hecho con Hebrón, así como con Debir y su rey.
he seized it and laid waste to it, likewise with its king. And all the surrounding towns, he struck with the edge of the sword. He did not leave in it any remains. Just as he had done to Hebron and Libnah, and to their kings, so did he do to Debir and to its king.
40 Entonces Josué venció toda la tierra, las montañas y el sur, las tierras bajas y las laderas de las montañas, y todos sus reyes; todos fueron condenados a muerte, y cada cosa viva que entregó a la destrucción, como el Señor, el Dios de Israel, le había dado órdenes.
And so Joshua struck the entire land, the mountains, and the south, and the plains, and the descending slopes, with their kings. He did not leave in it any remains, but he put to death all that was able to breathe, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had instructed him,
41 Josué los venció desde Cades-barnea hasta Gaza, y toda la tierra de Gosen hasta Gabaón.
from Kadesh-barnea, as far as Gaza, with all the land of Goshen, as far as Gibeon.
42 Y todos estos reyes y su tierra tomó Josué al mismo tiempo, porque el Señor, el Dios de Israel, estaba luchando por Israel.
And all their kings and their regions, he seized and destroyed with a single attack. For the Lord, the God of Israel, fought on his behalf.
43 Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él regresaron a sus campamentos en Gilgal.
And he returned, with all of Israel, to the place of the encampment at Gilgal.
