Juan 9
1 Y cuando se fue, en el camino vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento.
Now as Jesus passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.
2 Y sus discípulos le hicieron una pregunta, diciendo: Maestro, ¿fue por el pecado de este hombre, o el pecado de su padre y su madre, que ha estado ciego de nacimiento?
His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, so that he was born blind?”
3 Jesús dijo en respuesta: No fue por su pecado, ni por causa de su padre o su madre; era para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten abiertamente en él.
Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin, nor his parents, but so that the works of God would be revealed in him.
4 Si bien es de día debemos hacer las obras del que me envió: llega la noche en que no se puede hacer ningún trabajo.
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one will be able to work.
5 Mientras estoy en el mundo, soy la luz del mundo.
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 Diciendo estas palabras, puso la tierra, mezclada con saliva, en los ojos del hombre,
After Jesus said these things, he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and smeared the mud on his eyes.
7 y le dijo: Ve y lávate la cara en el estanque de Siloé (que significa, Enviado). Así que se fue y, después de lavarse, volvió viendo.
He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam,” (which is translated “Sent”). So the man went away, washed, and came back seeing.
8 Entonces los vecinos y otros que lo habían visto antes en la calle, con su mano en busca de dinero, dijeron: ¿No es este el hombre que obtuvo dinero de la gente?
Then the man's neighbors and those who had seen him previously as a beggar were saying, “Is not this the man that used to sit and beg?”
9 Algunos dijeron: Es él; otros dijeron: No, no es, pero él se parece a él. Él dijo: Yo soy él.
Some said, “It is he.” Others said, “No, but he is like him.” But he said, “It is me.”
10 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Cómo, pues, te fueron abiertos los ojos?
They said to him, “Then how were your eyes opened?”
11 Su respuesta fue: El hombre que se llama Jesús puso la tierra mezclada con saliva en mis ojos, y me dijo: Ve y lávate en Siloé: así que me fui y, después del lavado, ahora puedo ver.
He answered, “The man who is called Jesus made mud and smeared it on my eyes and said to me, 'Go to Siloam and wash.' So I went and washed, and I received my sight.”
12 Y ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde está él? Su respuesta fue: no lo se.
They said to him, “Where is he?” He replied, “I do not know.”
13 Lo llevaron delante de los fariseos, este hombre que había sido ciego.
They brought the man who used to be blind to the Pharisees.
14 El día en que Jesús hizo lodo y lo puso en los ojos del hombre y le devolvió la vista fue el día de reposo.
Now it was the Sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.
15 Entonces los fariseos le hicieron más preguntas acerca de cómo se habían abierto sus ojos. Y él les dijo: Puso el lodo sobre mis ojos, me lavé y ahora puedo ver.
Then again the Pharisees asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I now can see.”
16 Entonces algunos de los fariseos dijeron: Que el hombre no ha venido de Dios, porque no guarda el día de reposo. Otros decían: ¿Cómo es posible que un pecador haga tales milagros? Entonces hubo una división entre ellos.
Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God because he does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was a division among them.
17 Otra vez le dijeron al ciego: ¿Qué tienes que decir sobre él; puesto te ha devuelto la vista? Y él dijo: Él es un profeta.
So they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, since he opened your eyes?” The blind man said, “He is a prophet.”
18 Ahora bien, los judíos no creían en la declaración de que había sido ciego y ahora podía ver, hasta que enviaron a buscar al padre y la madre del hombre cuyos ojos habían sido abiertos,
Now the Jews still did not believe about him that he was blind and had received his sight until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.
19 y les preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Es este tu hijo, de quien dices que era ciego al nacer? ¿cómo es que ahora él puede ver?
They asked the parents, “Is this your son whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
20 En respuesta, su padre y su madre dijeron: Estamos seguros de que este es nuestro hijo y que él era ciego al nacer:
So his parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
21 Pero cómo es que ahora puede ver, o quién abrió los ojos, no sabemos; pregúntenle a él; él es lo suficientemente mayor para dar una respuesta por sí mismo.
How he now sees, we do not know, and who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him, he is an adult. He can speak for himself.”
22 Dijeron esto por temor a los judíos, porque los judíos habían llegado a un acuerdo de que si alguno decía que Jesús era el Cristo, sería expulsado de la sinagoga.
His parents said these things, because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had already agreed that if anyone would confess him to be the Christ, he would be thrown out of the synagogue.
23 Esa fue la razón por la que dijeron: Él es lo suficientemente mayor; preguntale a el.
Because of this, his parents said, “He is an adult, ask him.”
24 Entonces enviaron una segunda vez al hombre que había sido ciego, y le dijeron: Da gloria a Dios; tenemos claro que este hombre es un pecador.
So for a second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
25 Él dijo en respuesta, no tengo conocimiento si él es un pecador o no, pero de algo estoy seguro; Estaba ciego, y ahora veo.
Then that man replied, “I do not know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I see.”
26 Entonces ellos le dijeron: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿cómo te dio el uso de tus ojos?
Then they said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27 Su respuesta fue: lo he dicho antes, pero tenían los oídos cerrados: ¿por qué quieren que vuelva a decirlo? ¿Desean convertirse en sus discípulos?
He answered, “I have told you already, and you did not listen! Why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become his disciples too, do you?
28 Y se enojaron con él, y le dijeron: Tú eres su discípulo, pero nosotros somos discípulos de Moisés.
They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
29 Estamos seguros de que Dios le dio su palabra a Moisés: pero en cuanto a este hombre, no sabemos de dónde viene.
We know that God has spoken to Moses, but we do not know where this one is from.”
30 El hombre dijo en respuesta: ¡Por qué, aquí hay algo extraño! Ustedes no saben de dónde viene, aunque me dio el uso de mis ojos.
The man answered and said to them, “This is remarkable, that you do not know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes.
31 Tenemos conocimiento de que Dios no presta oído a los pecadores, pero si alguno adora a Dios y le agrada, para él los oídos de Dios están abiertos.
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if someone is devout and does his will, he listens to him.
32 En todos los años, nadie ha visto jamás los ojos de un hombre ciego de nacimiento recobrar la vista. (aiōn g165)
Since the world began it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. (aiōn g165)
33 Si este hombre no vino de Dios, no podría hacer nada.
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
34 Su respuesta fue: Tú naciste por el pecado; ¿te haces nuestro maestro? Y lo sacaron de la sinagoga.
They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and you are teaching us?” Then they threw him out.
35 Llegaron a oídos de Jesús que lo habían sacado, y al encontrarlo, le dijo: ¿Tienes fe en el Hijo del Hombre?
Jesus heard that they had cast him out of the synagogue. He found him and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 Él dijo en respuesta: ¿Y quién es él, Señor? Di, para que pueda tener fe en él.
He replied and said, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
37 Jesús le dijo: Tú lo has visto; es él quien te está hablando.
Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is the one who is speaking with you.”
38 Y él dijo: Señor, creo. Y él le dio culto. Y él lo adoró.
The man said, “Lord, I believe” and he worshiped him.
39 Y Jesús dijo: Yo vine a este mundo para ser juez, para que los que no ven puedan ver, y los que ven se queden ciegos.
Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world so that those who do not see may see and so that those who see may become blind.”
40 Estas palabras llegaron a oídos de los fariseos que estaban con él, y le dijeron: ¿Somos nosotros, entonces, ciegos?
Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things and asked him, “Are we also blind?”
41 Jesús les dijo: Si fueran ciegos, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora que dicen: Nosotros vemos; sus pecados permanece todavía.
Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, 'We see,' so your sin remains.”
