Juan 12
1 Entonces, seis días antes de la Pascua, Jesús vino a Betania, donde estaba Lázaro, a quien Jesús había hecho resucitado.
Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where was Lazarus, who had died, whom he raised out of the dead;
2 Y le hicieron comer allí, y Marta le sirvió, y Lázaro estaba entre los que estaban sentados con él en la mesa.
they made, therefore, to him a supper there, and Martha was ministering, and Lazarus was one of those reclining together (at meat) with him;
3 Entonces María, tomando unos gramos aceite de nardo perfumado de gran valor, lo puso sobre los pies de Jesús y los hizo secar con sus cabellos; y la casa se llenó del olor del perfume.
Mary, therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of spikenard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and did wipe with her hair his feet, and the house was filled from the fragrance of the ointment.
4 Pero uno de sus discípulos, Judas Iscariote (que iba a traicionarlo), dijo:
Therefore saith one of his disciples — Judas Iscariot, of Simon, who is about to deliver him up —
5 ¿Por qué no se vendió este perfume por trescientos denarios, y el dinero dado a los pobres?
'Wherefore was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor?'
6 (Él dijo esto, no porque le importaran los pobres, sino porque era un ladrón, y, teniendo la bolsa de dinero, robaba para sí mismo lo que se ponía en ella).
and he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and what things were put in he was carrying.
7 Entonces Jesús dijo: Déjala. Déjala guardar lo que tiene para el día de mi muerte.
Jesus, therefore, said, 'Suffer her; for the day of my embalming she hath kept it,
8 Los pobres siempre los tendrán con ustedes, pero a mí no me tendrán para siempre.
for the poor ye have always with yourselves, and me ye have not always.'
9 Entonces un gran número de judíos tuvo noticias de que él estaba allí; y vinieron, no sólo por causa de Jesús, sino para ver a Lázaro que había muerto y a quien había resucitado.
A great multitude, therefore, of the Jews knew that he is there, and they came, not because of Jesus only, but that Lazarus also they may see, whom he raised out of the dead;
10 Y se habló entre los principales sacerdotes de matar a Lázaro;
and the chief priests took counsel, that also Lazarus they may kill,
11 Por causa de él, un gran número de judíos se fueron y creyeron en Jesús.
because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.
12 Al día siguiente, un gran número de personas que estaban allí para la fiesta, cuando tenían noticias de que Jesús venía a Jerusalén,
On the morrow, a great multitude that came to the feast, having heard that Jesus doth come to Jerusalem,
13 Tomaron ramas de palmeras y salieron a él, gritando: Bendición sobre aquel que viene en el nombre del Señor, ¡el Rey de Israel!
took the branches of the palms, and went forth to meet him, and were crying, 'Hosanna, blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord — the king of Israel;'
14 Y Jesús vio un pollino y se monto en él; como dicen las Escrituras,
and Jesus having found a young ass did sit upon it, according as it is written,
15 No temas, hija de Sion: mira que tu Rey viene, sentado sobre un pollino.
'Fear not, daughter of Sion, lo, thy king doth come, sitting on an ass' colt.'
16 Estas cosas no estaban claras para sus discípulos al principio; pero cuando Jesús fue elevado a su gloria, se les ocurrió que estas cosas en las Escrituras se referían a él y que le habían pasado a él.
And these things his disciples did not know at the first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were having been written about him, and these things they did to him.
17 Ahora la gente que estaba con él cuando él llamó a Lázaro de la tumba, y lo resucitó, había estado hablando de eso.
The multitude, therefore, who are with him, were testifying that he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and did raise him out of the dead;
18 Y esa fue la razón por la cual la gente salió a buscarlo, porque les llegó a oídos que él había hecho este milagro.
because of this also did the multitude meet him, because they heard of his having done this sign,
19 Entonces los fariseos dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Miren? no pueden hacer nada; el mundo lo ha seguido.
the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, 'Ye see that ye do not gain anything, lo, the world did go after him.'
20 Y había algunos griegos entre la gente que había venido a dar culto en la fiesta:
And there were certain Greeks out of those coming up that they may worship in the feast,
21 Vinieron a Felipe, que era de Betsaida en Galilea, y le hicieron una petición, diciendo: Señor, tenemos el deseo de ver Jesús.
these then came near to Philip, who [is] from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, 'Sir, we wish to see Jesus;'
22 Felipe fue y le dio aviso a Andrés; y Andrés fue con Felipe a Jesús.
Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
23 Y Jesús les dijo en respuesta: La hora de la gloria del Hijo del hombre ha llegado.
And Jesus responded to them, saying, 'The hour hath come that the Son of Man may be glorified;
24 De cierto les digo, que si la semilla de grano no entra en la tierra y llega a su fin, solo es semilla y nada más; pero a través de su muerte da mucho fruto.
verily, verily, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remaineth alone; and if it may die, it doth bear much fruit;
25 El que ama su vida la perderá; y el que no se preocupa por su vida en este mundo la conservará por los siglos de los siglos. (aiōnios g166)
he who is loving his life shall lose it, and he who is hating his life in this world — to life age-during shall keep it; (aiōnios g166)
26 Si alguno es mi siervo, que venga en pos de mí; y donde yo estoy, allí estará mi siervo. Si algún hombre se convierte en mi siervo, mi Padre le dará honor.
if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me — honour him will the Father.
27 Ahora está turbada mi alma; y ¿qué voy a decir? Padre, mantenme alejado de esta hora. No: para este propósito he venido a esta hora.
'Now hath my soul been troubled, and what? shall I say — Father, save me from this hour? — but because of this I came to this hour;
28 Padre, glorifica tu nombre. Entonces vino una voz del cielo, que decía: Le he dado gloria, y le daré gloria otra vez.
Father, glorify Thy name.' There came, therefore, a voice out of the heaven, 'I both glorified, and again I will glorify [it];'
29 Al escuchar el sonido, varias personas que estaban allí dijeron que era trueno: otros decían: Un ángel estaba hablando con él.
the multitude, therefore, having stood and heard, were saying that there hath been thunder; others said, 'A messenger hath spoken to him.'
30 Jesús respondió: Esta voz no vino para mí, sino para ustedes.
Jesus answered and said, 'Not because of me hath this voice come, but because of you;
31 Ahora es el momento que mundo va a ser juzgado: ahora el gobernante de este mundo será expulsado.
now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth;
32 Y yo, si fuere levantado de la tierra, haré que todos los hombres vengan a mí.
and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.'
33 (Esto dijo, señalando el tipo de muerte que tendría).
And this he said signifying by what death he was about to die;
34 Entonces las personas en respuesta le dijeron: La ley dice que el Cristo tendrá vida sin fin: ¿Cómo dices entonces que es necesario para el Hijo del hombre ser levantado? ¿Quién es este Hijo del hombre? (aiōn g165)
the multitude answered him, 'We heard out of the law that the Christ doth remain — to the age; and how dost thou say, That it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? who is this — the Son of Man?' (aiōn g165)
35 Jesús les dijo: Por poco tiempo más la luz estará entre ustedes; mientras tienen la luz, siguan caminando en ella, para que la oscuridad no les alcance: uno que camina en la oscuridad no sabe a dónde va.
Jesus, therefore, said to them, 'Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness hath not known where he goeth;
36 Mientras tengan luz, pongan su fe en la luz para que puedan convertirse en hijos de la luz. Con estas palabras Jesús se fue y por un tiempo no fue visto otra vez por ellos.
while ye have the light, believe in the light, that sons of light ye may become.' These things spake Jesus, and having gone away, he was hid from them,
37 Pero a pesar de haber hecho tantos milagros delante de ellos, aún no creían en él.
yet he having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in him,
38 Para que las palabras del profeta Isaías se cumplieran, cuando dijo: Señor, ¿quién cree en nuestro mensaje? y a quien ha revelado el Señor su poder, ¿a quién se ha revelado?
that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, 'Lord, who gave credence to our report? and the arm of the Lord — to whom was it revealed?'
39 Por esta razón no pudieron creer, porque Isaías dijo otra vez:
Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,
40 El hizo cegar sus ojos, y endureció sus corazones; para que no vean con sus ojos y entiendan en sus corazones, y sean cambiados, y yo pueda sanarlos.
'He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;'
41 (Isaías dijo estas palabras porque vio su gloria. Sus palabras fueron acerca de él.)
these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
42 Sin embargo, un número incluso de los gobernantes tenían fe en él, pero debido a los fariseos no lo dijeron abiertamente por temor a que pudieran ser expulsados. fuera de la sinagoga:
Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,
43 porque la alabanza de los hombres les era más estimada que la aprobación de Dios.
for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
44 Entonces Jesús dijo a gran voz: El que tiene fe en mí, no tiene fe en mí, sino en el que me envió.
And Jesus cried and said, 'He who is believing in me, doth not believe in me, but in Him who sent me;
45 Y el que me ve, ve al que me envió.
and he who is beholding me, doth behold Him who sent me;
46 He venido como una luz al mundo, para que nadie que tenga fe en mí siga viviendo en la oscuridad.
I a light to the world have come, that every one who is believing in me — in the darkness may not remain;
47 Y si alguno escucha mis palabras y no las guarda, yo no soy su juez; no he venido para ser juez del mundo, sino para dar la salvación al mundo.
and if any one may hear my sayings, and not believe, I — I do not judge him, for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
48 El que me desprecia y hace a un lado mis palabras y no toma mis palabras en serio, no está sin juez: la palabra que he dicho será su juez en el último día.
'He who is rejecting me, and not receiving my sayings, hath one who is judging him, the word that I spake, that will judge him in the last day,
49 Porque no lo he dicho bajo mi autoridad, pero el Padre que me envió me dio órdenes sobre qué decir y cómo decirlo.
because I spake not from myself, but the Father who sent me, He did give me a command, what I may say, and what I may speak,
