Joel 2
1 Que suene la trompeta en Sion, y un grito de guerra en Sión; que tiemble todo el pueblo de la tierra, porque viene el día del Señor;
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble! For the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is near!
2 Porque se acerca un día de sombra oscura y profunda, un día de nubes y noche negra; como una nube negra, un pueblo grande y fuerte cubre las montañas; como la aurora, nunca ha habido ninguno como ellos y no lo habrá, de generación en generación.
A day of darkness, and gloominess, A day of clouds, and thick darkness. As the morning light spreadeth itself upon the mountains, There cometh a numerous people and a strong; Like them there have been none of old time, And after them there shall not be, Even to the years of many generations.
3 Ante ellos, el fuego envía destrucción, y después de ellos arde la llama; la tierra es como el jardín del Edén, delante de ellos, y después de ellos un desierto no poblado; verdaderamente, nada se ha mantenido a salvo de ellos.
A fire devoureth before them, And behind them a flame burneth; The land is as the garden of Eden before them. And behind them a desolate wilderness! Yea, nothing escapeth them.
4 Su aspecto es como el aspecto de los caballos, y corren como caballos de guerra.
Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, And like horsemen do they run;
5 Como el sonido de los carruajes de guerra, saltan a las cimas de las montañas; como el ruido de una llama de fuego que quema los tallos de los granos, como un pueblo fuerte en fila para la pelea.
Like rattling chariots they leap on the tops of the mountains; Like the crackling flame of fire, which devoureth stubble; Like a mighty host set in battle array.
6 Al llegar, las personas se doblan de dolor; todas las caras palidecen.
Before them the people tremble, And all faces gather blackness.
7 Corren como hombres fuertes, cruzan el muro como hombres de guerra; cada hombre sigue su camino, sus líneas no se rompen.
They run like mighty men; They climb the wall like warriors; They march every one on his way; They change not their paths.
8 Nadie está empujando contra otro; todo el mundo sigue su camino; atravesando el filo de la espada, su orden no se rompe.
One doth not thrust another; They march every one in his path, And though they rush among weapons, they are not wounded.
9 Se apresuran en la ciudad, corriendo por la pared; suben a las casas y entran por las ventanas como un ladrón.
They run through the city; They run upon the wall; They go up into the houses; They enter in at the windows, like a thief.
10 La tierra está turbada ante ellos y los cielos tiemblan; el sol y la luna se han oscurecido, y las estrellas retienen su brillo.
The earth quaketh before them, And the heavens tremble; The sun and the moon are darkened, And the stars withdraw their shining.
11 Y el Señor da su voz delante de su ejército; porque muy grande es su ejército; porque él es fuerte y hace cumplir su palabra; porque el día del Señor es grande y muy temible, ¿y quién podrá resistirlo?
Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; For very great is his host; Yea, it is mighty, executing his word; The day of Jehovah is great, and very terrible; Who shall be able to bear it?
12 Pero aun ahora, dice el Señor, vuelve a mí con todo tu corazón, con ayuno, con llanto y tristeza:
Yet even now, saith Jehovah, Turn ye to me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning!
13 Que se rompan sus corazones, y no tu ropa, y vuelve al Señor tu Dios; porque él está lleno de gracia y piedad, lento para enojarse y grande en misericordia, listo para ser apartado de su propósito de castigo.
And rend your hearts, and not your garments, And turn to Jehovah your God, For he is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness, And repenteth of a threatened evil.
14 ¿Quién sabe si volverá y se apiade y les deje una bendición, incluso una ofrenda de cereales y una ofrenda de bebida para el Señor su Dios?
Who knoweth but he will turn and repent, And leave a blessing behind him, Even a flour-offering and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God.
15 Que suene un cuerno en Sión, que se fije un tiempo de ayuno, que tengan una reunión sagrada.
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Appoint yea fast; proclaim a solemn assembly!
16 Reúnan a la gente, santifiquen la asamblea, envíen a buscar a los viejos, junten a los niños y los bebés de pecho. Que el hombre recién casado salga de su habitación y la novia de su tálamo.
Gather the people; appoint a congregation; Assemble the elders; Gather the children and the sucklings! Let the bridegroom come forth from his chamber, And the bride from her nuptial bed!
17 Que los sacerdotes, los siervos del Señor, lloren entre el pórtico y el altar, y que digan: Ten piedad de tu pueblo, oh Señor, no entregues a tu herencia, al oprobio, a la burla de las naciones, para que las naciones se conviertan en sus gobernantes: ¿por qué dejarles decir entre los pueblos, dónde está su Dios?
Let the priests, the servants of Jehovah, Weep between the porch and the altar, And say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, And give not thine inheritance to reproach, And to be a by-word to the nations! Why should they say among the nations, Where is their God?
18 Entonces el Señor se preocupó por el honor de su tierra y se compadeció de su pueblo.
Then will Jehovah be zealous for his land, And have compassion on his people,
19 Y el Señor responderá a su pueblo: Mira, te enviaré grano, vino y aceite, y se saciarán de ello, y nunca más los avergonzarán entre las naciones.
Yea, Jehovah will answer, and say to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, And new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
20 Enviaré al ejército del norte lejos de ti, llevándolo a una tierra seca y desierta, con su frente al mar del este y su espalda al mar del oeste, y su hedor subirá, incluso subirá su pudrición, porque hizo grandes cosas.
I will remove far from you the northern host, And I will drive it into a dry and desolate land; Its van toward the Eastern sea, And its rear toward the Western sea. And its scent shall come up, And its ill savor shall come up, Because it hath done great things.
21 No temas, tierra; alégrate con gran alegría; porque el Señor ha hecho grandes cosas.
Fear not, O land, exult and rejoice, For Jehovah hath done great things!
22 No tengan miedo, bestias del campo, porque los pastizales del desierto se están volviendo verdes, porque los árboles producen frutos, la higuera y la vid dan su fuerza.
Fear not, O ye beasts of the field, For the pastures of the desert spring up, For the tree beareth its fruit; The fig-tree and the vine yield their strength!
23 Alégrense, pues, hijos de Sión, y regocíjense en el Señor su Dios Supremo; porque les ha dado la lluvia temprana para su justicia, haciendo que llueva para ti, la lluvia temprana y tardía como al principio.
And, O ye sons of Zion, exult, And rejoice in Jehovah your God! For he giveth you the former rain in just measure, And causeth showers to come down upon you, Even the former rain, and the latter rain, as aforetime.
24 Y los pisos estarán llenos de grano, y los lugares de trituración rebosantes de vino y aceite.
And the threshing-floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
25 Te devolveré los años que fueron alimento para la langosta, el gusano de la planta, la mosca de campo y el gusano, mi gran ejército que envié contra ustedes.
And I will restore to you the years Which the swarming-locust hath eaten, The licking-locust, the consuming-locust, and the gnawing-locusts, My great army, which I sent among you.
26 Tendrán comida en toda medida, y alabarán el nombre del Señor su Dios, que ha hecho maravillas por ustedes.
Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, And praise the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt wondrously with you; And my people shall never be put to shame.
27 Y Sabrán de que estoy en Israel, y que soy el Señor su Dios, y no hay otro; y mi pueblo nunca será avergonzado.
Ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, And that I am Jehovah, your God, and none else; And my people shall never be put to shame.
28 Y después de eso, sucederá, dice el Señor, que enviaré mi espíritu sobre toda carne; y tus hijos y tus hijas serán profetas, tus viejos tendrán sueños, tus jóvenes verán visiones.
And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
29 Y sobre los sirvientes y las sirvientas en aquellos días enviaré mi espíritu.
Upon the men-servants also, and upon the handmaids, Will I pour out my spirit in those days.
30 Y dejaré que se vean maravillas en los cielos y en la tierra, sangre, fuego y columnas de humo.
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 El sol se oscurecerá y la luna se convertirá en sangre, antes de que llegue el gran día del Señor, un día temible.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of Jehovah cometh, The great and the terrible day. Then whoever calleth on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered;
32 Y será todo aquel que haga su oración al nombre del Señor, se mantendrá a salvo; porque en el Monte Sión y en Jerusalén, algunos se mantendrán a salvo, como ha dicho el Señor, y estarán entre los que han sido llamados por el Señor.
For upon mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be deliverance, As Jehovah hath spoken; And among the remnant, whom Jehovah shall call.
