Job 41
1 ¿Es posible sacar al Leviatán con un anzuelo, o poner un anzuelo en su boca?
Canst thou draw out the Crocodile with a fish-hook? Or, with a cord, canst thou fasten down his tongue?
2 ¿Le pondrás un cordón en la nariz o le perforarás con un gancho su quijada?
Wilt thou put a rush-cord on his nose? or, with a thorn, wilt thou pierce his jaw?
3 ¿Te hará oraciones o te hará súplicas?
Will he multiply unto thee supplications, or will he speak unto thee softly?
4 ¿Hará acuerdo contigo para que lo tomes por siervo para siempre?
Will he solemnise a covenant with thee? Wilt thou take him for a life-long servant?
5 ¿Jugarás con él, como con un pájaro? ¿O lo ataras para tus doncellas?
Wilt thou sport with him, as with a little bird? Or wilt thou bind him, for thy maidens?
6 ¿Le sacarán provecho los pescadores? ¿Lo cortarán en pedazos los comerciantes?
Shall the companions bargain over him? or will they part him among the traders?
7 ¿Pondrás atravesar con flechas de hierro de punta afilada en su piel, o su cabeza con arpones?
Wilt thou fill, with darts, his skin? or, with fish-spears, his head?
8 Solo pon tu mano sobre él, y mira qué pelea tendrás; ¡No lo volverás a hacer!
Lay thou upon him thy hand, remember the battle—no more!
9 En verdad, la esperanza de su atacante es falsa; Él es vencido incluso al verlo!
Lo! any hope of him, hath been found deceptive, Even at the sight of him, shall not one be overwhelmed?
10 Es tan cruel que nadie está dispuesto a ir contra él. ¿Quién es capaz de mantener su lugar delante de mí?
None so bold, that he will rouse him! Who then is he that, before me, can stand?
11 ¿Quién me ha confrontado para que yo le restituya? Cuanto existe debajo del cielo es mío.
Who hath forestalled me, that I may repay him? Under all the heavens, mine it is!
12 No guardaré silencio sobre las partes de su cuerpo, o sobre su poder y la fuerza de su cuerpo.
I will not pass by in silence his parts, or the matter of strength, or the grace of his armour.
13 ¿Quién le ha quitado su piel exterior? ¿Quién puede entrar dentro de su doble coraza?
Who hath removed his outer garment, through his double row of teeth, who would enter?
14 ¿Quién ha abierto las puertas de su rostro? La hilera de sus dientes espantan.
The doors of his face, who hath opened? The circles of his teeth, are a terror!
15 Su fuerte espalda de escamas es su orgullo, unidas entre sí, una contra la otra, como un sello.
A pride, are his arched sides, closed up, with a firm seal;
16 Uno está tan cerca del otro que ningún aire puede interponerse entre ellos.
One to another, they join, and, air, cannot enter between them;
17 Se agarran el uno al otro; se juntan, para que no se puedan separar.
Each to its fellow, they cleave, they grasp each other, and cannot be parted;
18 Sus estornudos emiten llamas, y sus ojos son como los de la aurora.
His sneezings, flash forth light, and, his eyes, are like the eyelashes of the dawn;
19 De su boca salen las luces encendidas, y las llamas de fuego saltan.
Out of his mouth, torches dart forth, sparks of fire, escape;
20 De su nariz sale humo, como una olla hirviendo sobre el fuego.
Out of his nostrils, proceedeth smoke, like a blown pot and rushes;
21 Su aliento pone fuego a las brasas, y una llama sale de su boca.
His breath, setteth coals ablaze, and, a flame, out of his mouth, proceedeth;
22 La fuerza está en su cuello, y el desaliento danza ante él.
In his neck, lodgeth strength, and, before him, danceth dismay;
23 Los pliegues de su piel están unidas, fijas y no para ser movidas.
The dewlaps of his flesh, cleave together, hardened upon him, they cannot be moved;
24 Su corazón es tan fuerte como una piedra, duro como la piedra trituradora de abajo.
His heart, is hardened like a stone, yea hardened, like the nether millstone;
25 Cuando se levanta él, los poderosos son vencidos por el miedo, por quebrantamiento del pecado.
At his rising up, mighty men are afraid, by reason of terror, they are beside themselves:
26 La espada puede acercarse a él, pero no puede atravesarlo; la lanza, o la flecha, o el hierro afilado.
As for him that assaileth him, the sword availeth not, spear, dart, or coat of mail:
27 El hierro es para él como hierba seca, y el bronce como madera blanda.
He counteth iron as broken straw, and bronze as rotten wood:
28 La flecha no puede ponerlo en vuelo: las piedras no son más que paja para él.
The arrow, will not make him flee, Into chaff, are sling-stones changed by him:
29 Un palo grueso no es mejor que una hoja de hierba, y él se burla con el ataque de la lanza.
As a straw, is a club accounted, and he laugheth at the whir of the javelin;
30 Debajo de él hay bordes afilados de macetas rotas: como si estuviera tirando de trillos sobre él lodo.
His underparts, are points of potsherd, a pointed threshing roller spreadeth out upon the slime:
31 Lo profundo de la mar está hirviendo como una olla de especias, y el mar como una vasija de perfume.
He causeth to boil, as a cauldron, the raging deep, the sea, he maketh like a brewing vessel:
32 Después de él, su camino brilla, de modo que lo profundo parece una cabellera blanca.
After him, he lighteth up a path, one might think the resounding deep to be hoary!
33 En la tierra no hay otro como él, que está hecho sin miedo.
There is not—upon the dust—his like, that hath been made to be without fear;
34 Todo ser altivo lo desafía; Él es rey sobre todos los hijos de orgullo.
Every thing lofty, he beholdeth, he, is king over all ravenous beasts.
