Job 38
1 Y el Señor respondió a Job desde el viento de tormenta, y dijo:
Forsothe the Lord answeride fro the whirlewynd to Joob,
2 ¿Quién es este que hace que el consejo de Dios sea oscuro por palabras sin conocimiento?
and seide, Who is this man, wlappynge sentences with vnwise wordis?
3 Reúne tus fuerzas como un hombre de guerra; Te haré preguntas y tú me darás las respuestas.
Girde thou as a man thi leendis; Y schal axe thee, and answere thou to me.
4 ¿Dónde estabas cuando puse la tierra en su base? Dimelo, si tienes conocimiento.
Where were thou, whanne Y settide the foundementis of erthe? schewe thou to me, if thou hast vndurstondyng.
5 ¿Por quién fueron fijadas sus medidas? si tienes sabiduría; ¿O por quién se extendía la línea sobre ella?
Who settide mesures therof, if thou knowist? ethir who stretchide forth a lyne theronne?
6 ¿En qué se basaron sus pilares, o quién dejó su piedra angular,
On what thing ben the foundementis therof maad fast? ether who sente doun the corner stoon therof,
7 ¿Cuando las estrellas de la mañana hicieron canciones juntas, y todos los hijos de Dios dieron gritos de alegría?
whanne the morew sterris herieden me togidere, and alle the sones of God sungun ioyfuli?
8 ¿O dónde estabas cuando nació el mar, saliendo de su lugar secreto;
Who closide togidere the see with doris, whanne it brak out comynge forth as of the wombe?
9 Cuando hice la túnica de la nube y puse nubes gruesas como faja alrededor de ella.
Whanne Y settide a cloude the hilyng therof, and Y wlappide it with derknesse, as with clothis of yong childhed.
10 Ordenando un límite fijo para ello, con cerraduras y puertas;
Y cumpasside it with my termes, and Y settide a barre, and doris;
11 Y dijo: Hasta aquí puedes llegar, y no más allá; ¿Y aquí se detendrá el orgullo de tus olas?
and Y seide, `Til hidur thou schalt come, and thou schalt not go forth ferthere; and here thou schalt breke togidere thi bolnynge wawis.
12 ¿Has dado órdenes desde la madrugada hasta la mañana o has hecho consciente a la aurora de su lugar?
Whethir aftir thi birthe thou comaundist to the bigynnyng of dai, and schewidist to the morewtid his place?
13 ¿Para que pueda difundir su luz a la tierra, sacudiendo a todos los que hacen el mal?
Whethir thou heldist schakynge togidere the laste partis of erthe, and schakedist awei wickid men therfro?
14 Se cambia como barro bajo un sello, y se colorea como una túnica;
A seeling schal be restorid as cley, and it schal stonde as a cloth.
15 Y de los malhechores es quitada su luz, y se rompe el brazo del orgulloso.
The liyt of wickid men schal be takun awey fro hem, and an hiy arm schal be brokun.
16 ¿Has venido a los manantiales del mar, caminando en los lugares secretos de las profundidades?
Whethir thou entridist in to the depthe of the see, and walkidist in the laste partis of the occian?
17 ¿Te han abierto las puertas de la muerte, o te han visto los guardianes de las puertas de la oscuridad?
Whether the yatis of deeth ben openyd to thee, and `siest thou the derk doris?
18 ¿Has tomado nota de los amplios límites de la tierra? Declara, si tienes conocimiento de todo.
Whethir thou hast biholde the brede of erthe? Schewe thou to me, if thou knowist alle thingis,
19 Cuál es camino donde mora la luz y las tinieblas. Donde es este lugar?
in what weie the liyt dwellith, and which is the place of derknesse;
20 Para que lo lleves a su límite, y entenderás el camino a su casa.
that thou lede ech thing to hise termes, and thou vndurstonde the weies of his hows.
21 Sin duda tienes conocimiento de ello, pues entonces naciste y el número de tus días es grande.
Wistist thou thanne, that thou schuldist be borun, and knew thou the noumbre of thi daies?
22 ¿Has venido al lugar secreto de la nieve, o has visto los almacenes del granizo,
Whethir thou entridist in to the tresours of snow, ether biheldist thou the tresours of hail?
23 ¿Qué he guardado para el tiempo de angustia, para el día de la guerra y la lucha?
whiche thingis Y made redy in to the tyme of an enemy, in to the dai of fiytyng and of batel.
24 ¿Cuál es el camino a donde se reparte la luz, y el viento del este esparcido sobre la tierra?
Bi what weie is the liyt spred abrood, heete is departid on erthe?
25 ¿Por quién ha sido dividido un canal para él diluvio o un camino para él estruendo del relámpago?
Who yaf cours to the strongeste reyn,
26 Causando que la lluvia caiga en una tierra donde ningún hombre vive, en el desierto que no tiene gente;
and weie of the thundur sownynge? That it schulde reyne on the erthe with out man in desert, where noon of deedli men dwellith?
27 Dar agua a la tierra donde hay desperdicio y destrucción, y hacer que produzca una fuente de retoños.
That it schulde fille a lond with out weie and desolat, and schulde brynge forth greene eerbis?
28 ¿Tiene la lluvia un padre? ¿O quién dio a luz al rocío?
Who is fadir of reyn, ether who gendride the dropis of deew?
29 ¿De cuyo cuerpo salió el hielo? ¿Y quién dio a luz a la escarcha del cielo?
Of whos wombe yede out iys, and who gendride frost fro heuene?
30 Las aguas se unen, duras como una piedra, y se cubre la faz de la profundidad.
Watris ben maad hard in the licnesse of stoon, and the ouer part of occian is streyned togidere.
31 ¿Puedes arreglar un cúmulo de estrellas, o soltar los cordones de Orión?
Whether thou schalt mowe ioyne togidere schynynge sterris Pliades, ethir thou schalt mowe distrie the cumpas of Arturis?
32 ¿Haces que las constelaciones salgan en el momento adecuado, o guías a la Osa y sus estrellas?
Whether thou bryngist forth Lucifer, `that is, dai sterre, in his tyme, and makist euene sterre to rise on the sones of erthe?
33 ¿Tienes conocimiento de las leyes de los cielos? ¿Les diste dominio sobre la tierra?
Whether thou knowist the ordre of heuene, and schalt sette the resoun therof in erthe?
34 ¿Puedes alzar tu voz a las nubes para que te inunden las aguas?
Whethir thou schalt reise thi vois in to a cloude, and the fersnesse of watris schal hile thee?
35 ¿Enviar los truenos para que vayan y te digan: “Aquí estamos?”
Whethir thou schalt sende leitis, and tho schulen go, and tho schulen turne ayen, and schulen seie to thee, We ben present?
36 ¿Quién ha puesto sabiduría en lo más profundo, o ha dado conocimiento a la mente?
Who puttide wisdoom in the entrailis of man, ethir who yaf vndurstondyng to the cok?
37 Quien por sabiduría puede contar las nubes, Quién puede inclinarlas para que den lluvia, Quién las hace parar.
Who schal telle out the resoun of heuenes, and who schal make acordyng of heuene to sleep?
38 ¿Cuando el polvo se endurece, y los terrones se pegan entre sí?
Whanne dust was foundid in the erthe, and clottis weren ioyned togidere?
39 ¿Buscas comida para él león, o para que sus cachorros sacien su apetito?
Whether thou schalt take prey to the lionesse, and schalt fille the soulis of hir whelpis,
40 ¿Cuándo están echados en las cuevas, y están esperando en la maleza para acechar?
whanne tho liggen in caues, and aspien in dennes?
41 ¿Quién da a los cuervos por la tarde la carne que está buscando, cuando sus crías están llorando a Dios? Y van vagando sin comida?
Who makith redi for the crowe his mete, whanne hise briddis crien to God, and wandren aboute, for tho han not meetis?
