Job 22
1 Entonces Elifaz el temanita respondió y dijo:
Forsothe Eliphat Themanytes answeride, and seide,
2 ¿Es posible que un hombre sea provechoso para Dios? No, porque la sabiduría de un hombre sólo es provechosa para sí mismo.
Whether a man, yhe, whanne he is of perfit kunnyng, mai be comparisound to God?
3 ¿Le interesa al Dios Todopoderoso que ustedes son justos? ¿O es útil para él que tus caminos sean sin pecado?
What profitith it to God, if thou art iust? ethir what schalt thou yyue to hym, if thi lijf is without wem?
4 ¿Es porque le das honor que te está castigando y juzgando?
Whether he schal drede, and schal repreue thee, and schal come with thee in to doom,
5 ¿No es grande tu maldad? Y no hay fin para tus pecados.
and not for thi ful myche malice, and thi wickidnessis with out noumbre, `these peynes bifelden iustli to thee?
6 Porque tomaste los bienes de tu hermano cuando no estaba en deuda contigo, y le quitaste la ropa a quienes la necesitan.
For thou hast take awei with out cause the wed of thi britheren; and hast spuylid nakid men of clothis.
7 No le das agua al viajero cansado, y del que no tiene comida retienes el pan.
Thou yauest not watir to the feynt man; and thou withdrowist breed fro the hungri man.
8 Porque era el hombre con poder quien tenía la tierra, y el hombre con un nombre de honor que vivía en ella.
In the strengthe of thin arm thou haddist the lond in possessioun; and thou moost myyti heldist it.
9 Enviaste a las viudas sin escuchar su causa y le quitaste el apoyo al niño que no tiene padre.
Thou leftist widewis voide; and al to-brakist the schuldris of fadirles children.
10 Por esta causa las redes están alrededor de tus pies, y eres superado por un miedo repentino.
Therfor thou art cumpassid with snaris; and sodeyn drede disturblith thee.
11 Tu luz se oscurece para que no puedas ver, y estás cubierto por una torrente de aguas.
And thou gessidist, that thou schuldist not se derknessis; and that thou schuldist not be oppressid with the fersnesse of watris flowyng.
12 ¿No es Dios tan alto como el cielo? Y mira las estrellas tan lejanas, ¡que altas son!
Whether thou thenkist, that God is hiyere than heuene, and is enhaunsid aboue the coppe of sterris?
13 Y tú dices: ¿Qué conocimiento tiene Dios? ¿Es capaz de tomar decisiones a través de la oscuridad profunda?
And thou seist, What sotheli knowith God? and, He demeth as bi derknesse.
14 Nubes gruesas lo cubren, por lo que no puede ver; y él está caminando sobre el arco del cielo.
A cloude is his hidyng place, and he biholdith not oure thingis, and he `goith aboute the herris of heuene.
15 ¿Guardarás el camino viejo por el cual fueron los hombres malos?
Whether thou coueitist to kepe the path of worldis, which wickid men han ofte go?
16 Quienes fueron quitados violentamente antes de su tiempo, quienes fueron destruidos por el torrente de las aguas.
Whiche weren takun awei bifor her tyme, and the flood distriede the foundement of hem.
17 El cual dijo a Dios: Aléjate de nosotros; ¿Qué nos puede hacer él Todopoderoso?
Whiche seiden to God, Go thou awei fro vs; and as if Almyyti God may do no thing, thei gessiden hym,
18 Aunque él había llenado de cosas buenas su casa, ¡pero el consejo de los malhechores está lejos de mí!
whanne he hadde fillid her housis with goodis; the sentence of whiche men be fer fro me.
19 Los rectos lo vieron y se alegraron, y los que no habían hecho nada malo se burlaron de ellos.
Iust men schulen se, and schulen be glad; and an innocent man schal scorne hem.
20 Diciendo: En verdad, su sustancia está cortada, y su riqueza es devorada por el fuego.
Whether the reisyng of hem is not kit doun, and fier schal deuoure the relifs of hem?
21 Familiarízate con él y mantente en paz: así te vendrá él bien.
Therfor assente thou to God, and haue thou pees; and bi these thingis thou schalt haue best fruytis.
22 Te ruego tomar la enseñanza de su boca y deja que sus palabras se almacenen en tu corazón.
Take thou the lawe of his mouth, and sette thou hise wordis in thin herte.
23 Si vuelves al Todopoderoso, serás restaurado, te rindes ante él; si apartas la iniquidad de tus casas;
If thou turnest ayen to Almyyti God, thou schalt be bildid; and thou schalt make wickidnesse fer fro thi tabernacle.
24 Y pon tu oro en el polvo, tu oro de Ofir, entre las rocas de los valles;
He schal yyue a flynt for erthe, and goldun strondis for a flynt.
25 Entonces el Rey de todos será tu oro, y su enseñanza será tu plata;
And Almyyti God schal be ayens thin enemyes; and siluer schal be gaderid togidere to thee.
26 Porque entonces te deleitarás con él Todopoderoso, y tu rostro se alzará a Dios.
Thanne on Almyyti God thou schalt flowe with delicis; and thou schalt reise thi face to God.
27 Harás tu oración a él, y serás respondido; y cumplirás tus juramentos.
Thou schalt preye hym, and he schal here thee; and thou schalt yelde thi vowis.
28 Decidiras una cosa y se hará realidad, y la luz brillará en tus caminos.
Thou schalt deme a thing, and it schal come to thee; and lyyt schal schyne in thi weies.
29 Porque Dios abatió a aquellos cuyos corazones se han alzado, pero él es el salvador de los pobres de espíritu.
For he that is mekid, schal be in glorie; and he that bowith doun hise iyen, schal be saued.
30 Él protege al hombre que está libre de pecado, y si tus manos están limpias, la salvación será tuya.
An innocent schal be saued; sotheli he schal be saued in the clennesse of hise hondis.
