Job 16
1 Y Job respondió y dijo:
Then Job answered and said,
2 Con frecuencia me llegan a los oídos tales cosas; son consoladores que solo dan problemas.
I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
3 ¿Pueden las palabras que son como el viento ser detenidas? ¿O qué te anima a darles respuesta?
Shall vain words have an end? or what provoketh thee that thou answerest?
4 No sería difícil para mí decir tales cosas si sus almas estuvieran en el lugar de mi alma; recopilando palabras contra ustedes y movería sobre ustedes mi cabeza.
I also could speak as ye do; if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could join words together against you, and shake mine head at you.
5 Podría darte ánimo con mi boca, y el consejo de mis labios apaciguar tu dolor.
[But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the solace of my lips should assuage [your grief].
6 Si digo lo que tengo en mente, mi dolor no se reduce: y si me callo, ¿cuánto de eso va a salir de mí?
Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
7 Pero ahora él me ha vencido con cansancio y temor, y tu has asolado toda mi compañía.
But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
8 Me has arrugado, ha surgido como testigo contra mí la flacura, se levanta como testigo a mi rostro.
And thou hast laid fast hold on me, [which] is a witness [against me]: and my leanness riseth up against me, it testifieth to my face.
9 Estoy quebrantado por su ira, y su odio me persigue, ha afilado sus dientes contra mí; mis enemigos me miran con ojos crueles;
He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; he hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
10 Sus bocas se mofan contra mí, los golpes de sus palabras amargas están cayendo en mi cara; burlones, todos ellos se juntan a una contra mí.
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: they gather themselves together against me.
11 Dios me entrega al poder de los pecadores, enviándome violentamente a las manos de los malhechores.
God delivereth me to the ungodly, and casteth me into the hands of the wicked.
12 Estaba tranquilo, pero sus manos me habían quebrantado; me ha cogido por el cuello, sacudiéndome en pedazos; Él me ha puesto como una marca para sus flechas.
I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: he hath also set me up for his mark.
13 Sus arqueros me rodean; Sus flechas atraviesan mis riñones sin piedad, mi hiel se esparce en la tierra.
His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
14 Estoy quebrado de herida tras herida; viene corriendo hacia mí como un hombre de guerra.
He breaketh me with breach upon breach; he runneth upon me like a giant.
15 He cosido cilicio sobre mi piel, y mi fuerza está hundida en el polvo.
I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and have laid my horn in the dust.
16 Mi cara está roja de llanto, y en mis ojos está la sombra de muerte;
My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
17 Aunque mis manos no han hecho actos violentos, y mi oración es limpia.
Although there is no violence in mine hands, and my prayer is pure.
18 ¡Oh tierra, que no se cubra mi sangre, y que mi clamor no tenga lugar de descanso!
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no [resting] place.
19 Aun ahora mi testigo está en el cielo, y mi testimonio está en lo alto.
Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and he that coucheth for me is on high.
20 Mis amigos se burlan de mi, a Dios están llorando mis ojos,
My friends scorn me: [but] mine eye poureth out tears unto God;
21 Oh! que alguien intercediera por un hombre con Dios, como un hombre lo hace por su prójimo.
That he would maintain the right of a man with God, and of a son of man with his neighbour!
22 Porque los años contados vendrán, en poco tiempo me iré al viaje del cual no volveré.
For when a few years are come, I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
