Job 12
1 Y Job respondió y dijo:
Then responded Job, and said: —
2 Sin duda ustedes son el pueblo, y la sabiduría terminará con ustedes.
Of a truth, ye, are the people, and, with you, wisdom, will die.
3 Pero tengo una mente como ustedes; Soy igual a ustedes: sí, ¿quién no tiene conocimiento de cosas como estas?
I also, have a mind like you, I, fall not short, of you, But who hath not such things as these?
4 ¡Parece que debo ser como uno que es motivo de burla a su prójimo, uno que hace su oración a Dios y recibe respuesta! ¡El hombre recto que no ha hecho nada malo es escarnecido!
A laughing-stock to one’s neighbour, do I become, one who hath called upon GOD and he hath answered him! A laughing-stock—a righteous man without blame!
5 En el pensamiento de aquel que está a gusto, no hay respeto por alguien que está en problemas; tal es el destino de aquellos cuyos pies se están deslizando.
For ruin, there is contempt, in the thought of the man at ease, —ready, for such as are of faltering foot!
6 Hay abundancia en las tiendas de aquellos que hacen la destrucción, y aquellos por quienes Dios es movido a la ira están a salvo; incluso aquellos los que Dios les ha dado el poder.
At peace are the tents that belong to the spoilers, and there is security to them who provoke GOD, To him who bringeth a god in his hand.
7 Pero ahora pregunta a las bestias, y aprende de ellas; o a las aves del cielo, y te informarán;
But, in very deed, ask, I pray thee, the beasts, and they will teach thee, and the bird of the heavens, and it will tell thee;
8 O a las cosas en la tierra, y te darán sabiduría; Y los peces del mar te darán noticias de ello.
Or address the earth, and it will teach thee, and the fishes of the sea, will recount it to thee:
9 ¿Quién no ve por todos estos que la mano del Señor ha hecho esto?
Who knoweth not, among all these, that, the hand of Yahweh, hath done this?
10 En cuya mano está el alma de todo ser viviente, y el aliento de toda carne humana.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all the flesh of men.
11 ¿No son las palabras probadas por el oído, al igual que la comida se prueba por la boca?
Doth not, the ear, try, words? even as, the palate, tasteth for itself, food?
12 Los ancianos tienen sabiduría, y una larga vida da conocimiento.
In the Ancient, is wisdom, and [in] Length of Days, understanding:
13 En Dios hay sabiduría y poder. El consejo y el conocimiento son suyos.
With Him, are wisdom and strength, to Him, pertain counsel and understanding.
14 En verdad, no hay reconstrucción de lo que es derribado por Dios; cuando un hombre es aprisionado por Dios, nadie puede soltarlo.
Lo! He pulleth down, and it cannot be built, He closeth up over a man, and it cannot be opened:
15 En verdad, él retiene las aguas y están secas; Él los envía y la tierra se inunda.
Lo! He holdeth back the waters, and they dry up, or sendeth them out, and they transform the earth:
16 Con él están el poder y la sabiduría; el que es guiado al error, junto con su guía, está en sus manos;
With Him, is strength and effective wisdom, to Him, belong he that erreth, and he that causeth to err.
17 Él quita la sabiduría de los guías sabios, y hace que los jueces sean necios;
Who leadeth away counsellors [as] a spoil, and, judges, He befooleth:
18 Él deshace las cadenas de los reyes, y ata sus cinturas con lazos;
The fetters of kings, He looseth, or hath bound a slave’s waistcloth about their loins:
19 Él hace a los sacerdotes prisioneros, volcando a los que están en posiciones seguras;
Who leadeth away priests [as] a spoil, and, men firmly seated, He overturneth:
20 Él hace las palabras de personas responsables sin efecto, y quita el entendimiento a los ancianos;
Setting aside the speech of the trusty, and, the discernment of elders, He taketh away:
21 Él avergüenza a los jefes, y quita el poder de los fuertes;
Pouring contempt upon nobles, and, the girdle of the mighty, hath He loosed:
22 Descubriendo cosas profundas de la oscuridad, y saca la sombra profunda a la luz;
Laying open deep things, out of darkness, and bringing out to light, the death-shade:
23 Engrandece a las naciones y las destruye; Extendiendo las tierras de los pueblos, y luego las reúne.
Who giveth greatness to nations, or destroyeth them, Who spreadeth out nations, or leadeth them into exile:
24 Él quita la sabiduría de los gobernantes de la tierra, y los envía vagando en un desierto donde no hay camino.
Who taketh away the sense of the chiefs of the people of the earth, and hath caused them to wander in a pathless waste:
25 Ellos van a tientas en la oscuridad sin luz, tambaleándose, como los borrachos.
They grope about in the dark, having no light, and He hath made them to reel, like a drunken man.
