Jeremías 8
1 En ese momento, dice el Señor, tomarán los huesos de los reyes de Judá, los huesos de sus gobernantes, los huesos de los sacerdotes, los huesos de los profetas, y los huesos de la gente de Jerusalén fuera de sus tumbas:
At that time, Declareth Yahweh, Shall they bring forth, The bones of the kings of Judah, and The bones of his princes, and The bones of the priests, and The bones of the prophets, and The bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Out of their graves,
2 Y los sacarán al sol, a la luna y a todas las estrellas del cielo, cuyos amantes y siervos han sido, quienes han seguido, a quienes han consultado y a quienes han dado adoración; no serán puestos juntos para enterrarlos; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.
And shall spread them out—To the sun, and To the moon, and To all the host of the heavens, Whom they have loved, And whom they have served, And after whom they have walked, And whom they have sought, And to whom they have bowed themselves down, —They shall not be gathered, Neither shall they be buried, As heaps of dung on the face of the ground, shall they be.
3 Y la muerte será deseada más que la vida por el resto de esta familia malvada que todavía vive en todos los lugares donde los he enviado, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
Then shall, death, be chosen rather than life, by all the remnant of them that remain, of this wicked family, —in all the places, whither I have driven them, Declareth Yahweh of hosts.
4 Además, debes decirles: Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: ¿No volverán a ser levantados los que están cayendo? ¿No volverá el que se ha ido?
Therefore shalt thou say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh, Will men fall and not arise? Will one turn away, and not come back?
5 ¿Por qué estas personas de Jerusalén se han desviado en rebeldía perpetua? no renunciarán a su engaño, rehúsan volver.
Wherefore hath this people of Jerusalem apostatized with an enduring apostacy, —Taken fast hold of deceit, Refused to come back?
6 Escuché y oí, pero nadie dijo lo que es correcto; ningún hombre se arrepintió de su maldad, diciendo: ¿Qué he hecho? Todo el mundo sigue su camino como un caballo que se apresura a la lucha.
I hearkened and heard—Not aright, did they speak, —Not a man, repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done! They have every one, turned to their course again, Like a horse sweeping on through the battle.
7 En verdad, la cigüeña en los cielos es consciente de sus tiempos fijos; la paloma y la golondrina y la grulla siguen los tiempos de su venida; pero mi pueblo no tiene conocimiento de la ley del Señor.
Even the stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times, And the turtle and the swallow and the crane, observe the season for coming; But my people know not the just sentence of Yahweh.
8 ¿Cómo es que dicen: Somos sabios y la ley del Señor está con nosotros? Pero mira, la pluma falsa de los escribas lo ha hecho mentira.
How can ye say, Wise, are, we, And the law of Yahweh, is with us? But indeed lo! falsely, hath dealt the false pen of the scribes!
9 Los sabios son avergonzados, vencidos por el temor y tomados; mira, han abandonado la palabra del Señor; ¿Y de qué les sirve su sabiduría?
Ashamed are the wise, dismayed and captured! Lo! the word of Yahweh, have they rejected, And, what wisdom, have, they?
10 Así que daré sus esposas a otros, y sus campos a aquellos que las tomarán para sí mismos; para todos, desde los más pequeños hasta los más grandes, sólo codician la avaricia, el dinero para obtener dinero; desde el sacerdote hasta el profeta, todos son falsos.
Therefore, will I give—Their wives to others, Their fields to such as shall take possession of them, For from the least, even unto the greatest, Every one, is, wholly given to extortion: From the prophet even unto the priest, Every one, dealeth, falsely.
11 E hicieron poco de las heridas de la hija de Sión, diciendo: Paz, paz; cuando no hay paz.
And so they have healed the grievous wound of the daughter of my people, slightly, —Saying, Peace! peace! when there was no peace!
12 Sean avergonzados porque han hecho cosas repugnantes. No tuvieron vergüenza, no pudieron enrojecerse de la vergüenza; entonces caerán con los que caen, en el momento de su castigo serán humillados, dice el Señor.
Were they led to turn pale because an abominable thing, they had done? Nay! they did not, at all turn pale Nay! they did not so much as know how to exhibit shame! Therefore, shall they fall among them who are falling, In the time when they are punished, shall they be overthrown, Saith Yahweh:
13 Terminaré con ellos por completo, dice el Señor; no hay uvas en la vid ni higos en la higuera, y la hoja está seca, todo lo que les he dado se les quitará.
I will, surely remove, them, declareth Yahweh: There shall be no grapes on the vine Nor figs on the fig-tree, Even the leaf, hath faded, Though I have given them these things, they shall pass away from them.
14 ¿Por qué estamos sentados sin hacer nada? vengan juntos, y vayamos a los pueblos amurallados, y dejemos que la destrucción nos alcance allí, porque el Señor nuestro Dios nos envió la destrucción, y nos dio agua amarga para nuestra bebida, porque hemos hecho el mal contra el Señor.
Why are, we, sitting still? Gather yourselves together and let us enter the defenced cities And let us be silent there, —For, Yahweh our God, hath put us to silence And made us drink poisoned water, Because we have sinned against Yahweh.
15 Buscábamos paz, pero no vino nada bueno; y por un tiempo de bienestar, pero solo hay un gran temor.
A waiting For prosperity, but no welfare, —For a time of healing, but lo! terror.
16 Desde Dan nos llega a los oídos los relinchos de los caballos; al oír el clamor de sus caballos de guerra, toda la tierra tiembla de miedo; porque han venido, y han devorado toda la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella; El pueblo y la gente que vive en ella.
From Dan, was heard the snorting of his horses At the sound of the neighing of his chargers, the whole land trembled, —Yea they came in and did sat up The land and the fulness thereof, The city, and them who were dwelling therein.
17 Mira, enviaré serpientes y serpientes venenosas entre ustedes, contra las cuales el mago no tiene poder; Y te harán heridas que no se curarán, dice el Señor.
For behold me! sending among you serpents—vipers which there is no charming, —And they shall fatally bite you declareth Yahweh.
18 ¡El dolor ha venido sobre mí! mi corazón en mí se desfallece.
When I would have cheered myself against sorrow, Against me, mine own heart sickened: —
19 La voz del clamor de la hija de mi pueblo proviene de una tierra lejana: ¿No está el Señor en Sion? no está su rey en ella? ¿Por qué me han hecho enojar con sus imágenes y sus extraños dioses que no son dioses?
Lo! the voice of the cry for help of the daughter of my people from a land far away, Is, Yahweh, not in Zion? Is, her King, not within her? Why, have they provoked me with their carved images, with their foreign vanities?
20 El corte de grano ha pasado, el verano ha terminado, y ninguna salvación ha llegado a nosotros.
The harvest is passed, The fruit-gathering, is ended; And we are not saved!
21 Por la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo, soy quebrantado; estoy vestido con ropas de dolor; El miedo se ha apoderado de mi.
For the grievous injury of the daughter of my people, I am grievously injured, —I am enshrouded in gloom, Horror, hath seized me: —
22 ¿No hay aceite que da vida en Galaad? ¿No hay un experto en artes médicas? ¿Por qué, entonces, mi gente no ha sido sanada?
Balsam, is there none, in Gilead? Is there no physician, there? Why hath not appeared the healing of the daughter of my people?
