Jeremías 47
1 La palabra del Señor que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de los filisteos, antes del ataque de Faraón en Gaza.
So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah the prophet, Against the Philistines, —before Pharaoh smote Gaza:
2 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: Mira, las aguas suben desde el norte y se convertirán en una corriente desbordante, desbordando la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella, la ciudad y los que viven en ella; Y los hombres gritarán, y toda la gente de la tierra gritará de dolor.
Thus, saith Yahweh—Lo! waters rising from the North And they shall become a torrent overflowing, Which shall overflow The land and the fulness thereof, The city, and the dwellers therein, —Then shall men make outcry, And all the inhabitants of the land, howl.
3 Ante el ruido de la pisada de los pies de sus caballos de guerra, al correr de sus carruajes y el trueno de sus ruedas, los padres no pensarán en sus hijos, porque sus manos son débiles;
Because of the sound of the tramping of the hoofs of his chargers, Because of the rushing of his chariots, the rumbling of his wheels Fathers shall not turn, to children, Because of the unnerving of their hands;
4 Por el día que viene para la destrucción de todos los filisteos, cortando de Tiro y Sidón al último de sus aliados; porque el Señor enviará destrucción a los filisteos, al remanente de la tierra marina de Caftor.
On account of the day that cometh to lay waste all the Philistines, To cut off from Tyre and Zidon every escaped one that could have helped, —For Yahweh is laying waste the Philistines, The remnant of the Coastland of Caphtor.
5 La calvicie a Gaza; Ascalón ha llegado a la nada; Los últimos de su valle hasta cuando dejarán de hacerte sajaduras profundas.
Baldness hath come, upon Gaza, Silenced is Ashkelon the remnant of their vale, —How long, wilt thou cut thyself?
6 Espada del Señor, ¿hasta cuándo no tendrás reposo? Y volverás a tu vaina; a estar en paz, estar en silencio.
Ah! thou sword of Yahweh, How long, wilt thou not be quiet? Withdraw into thy scabbard, Rest thyself and be still.
7 ¿Cómo es posible que se calme, ya que el Señor le ha dado órdenes? contra Ascalón y contra toda la costa le ha dado instrucciones.
How, can it be quiet, when, Yahweh, hath given it a charge, —against Ashkelon and against the shore of the sea? There, hath he appointed it!
