Jeremías 3

1 Dicen: Si un hombre aparta a su esposa y ella se aparta de él y se va con otro hombre, ¿volverá a ella? ¿Acaso esa tierra no será profanada? pero aunque has estado actuando como una mujer ramera con varios amantes, ¿volverás ahora a mí? dice el Señor.

It is said, if a man put away his wife, And she go from him, and become another man's, Shall he return to her again? Shall not that land be polluted? But thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; And shalt thou return to me, saith Jehovah?

2 Levanta tus ojos a las colinas abiertas, y mira; ¿A dónde no te han llevado tus amantes? Junto a los caminos te sentabas para ellos como un árabe en el desierto; has dejado la tierra sucia con tus fornicaciones y tu maldad.

Lift up thine eyes to the high places, and see! Where hast thou not been defiled? In the ways hast thou sat waiting, As the Arabian in the desert, And hast polluted the land by thy lewdness and thy wickedness.

3 Por lo tanto, las lluvias han sido retenidas, y no ha habido lluvia de primavera; Aún tu frente es la frente de una mujer ramera, no quisiste avergonzarte.

And although the showers have been withholden, And there hath been no latter rain, Yet thou hast had a harlot's forehead; Thou hast refused to be ashamed.

4 ¿No me harás, a partir de este momento, tu oración llorando; Mi padre, tú eres él guiador de mi juventud?

Wilt thou not from this time cry to me, Thou art my father, Yea, the friend of my youth art thou?

5 ¿Te enojarás para siempre? ¿Mantendrás tu ira hasta el final? Estas cosas has dicho, y has hecho el mal y has hecho tu voluntad.

Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it forevermore? Behold, thus dost thou speak, But thou doest evil with all thy might.

6 Y el Señor me dijo en los días del rey Josías: ¿Has visto lo que ha hecho Israel, apartándose de mí? Ella ha subido en cada montaña alta y debajo de cada árbol ramificado, actuando como una mujer prostituta allí.

Jehovah said to me, in the time of King Josiah, Hast thou heard what rebellious Israel hath done? She hath gone upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

7 Y dije: Después de que ella haya hecho todas estas cosas, volverá a mí; pero ella no lo hizo. Y su falsa hermana Judá lo vio.

And I said, after she had done all these things, Return thou to me! But she returned not. And her faithless sister Judah saw it.

8 Y aunque vio que, como Israel, que se había apartado de mí, no me lo había dicho, la había repudiado le había dado una declaración por escrito de divorcio, pero Judá, su falsa hermana, no tuvo temor, sino que fue e hizo lo mismo y se prostituyó.

And I saw, when, for all the adulteries which rebellious Israel had committed, I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce, that her faithless sister Judah was not afraid, but went and played the harlot also herself.

9 De modo que, a pesar de todo su comportamiento liviano de prostituirse, la tierra se volvió inmunda y ella fue infiel, entregándose a piedras y árboles.

And when by the fame of her lewdness she had polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and wood,

10 Pero por todo esto, su falsa hermana Judá no ha vuelto a mí con todo su corazón, sino con engaño, dice el Señor.

yet for all this did not her faithless sister Judah return to me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith Jehovah.

11 Y el Señor me dijo: Israel en su rechazo es más recto que la infiel Judá.

Then said Jehovah to me, Rebellious Israel is less guilty than faithless Judah.

12 Ve y difunde estas palabras al norte y di: “Vuelve, Israel, aunque te hayas alejado de mí, dice el Señor; Mi rostro no estará contra ti con ira; porque estoy lleno de misericordia, dice el Señor, no me enfadaré para siempre.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north: —Return, O rebellious Israel, saith Jehovah! I will not turn a frowning face upon you; For I am merciful, saith Jehovah, I retain not anger forever.

13 Sé consciente de tu pecado, el mal que has hecho contra el Señor tu Dios; Has ido con hombres extranjeros debajo de cada árbol ramificado, sin prestar atención a mi voz, dice el Señor.

Only acknowledge thine iniquity, That thou hast rebelled against Jehovah thy God, And hast roved about to strangers Under every green tree, And hast not obeyed my voice, saith Jehovah.

14 Vuelve, oh hijos rebeldes, dice el Señor; porque soy un marido para ti, y te llevaré, uno de un pueblo y dos de una familia, y te haré venir a Sión;

Return, ye rebellious children! saith Jehovah; Though I have rejected you, Yet will I receive you again, One from a city, and two from a nation, And I will bring you to Zion.

15 Y te daré pastores, que agradará a mi corazón, que te darán tu alimento con conocimiento y sabiduría.

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, Who shall feed you with wisdom and discretion.

16 Y sucederá que cuandose multipliquen y crezcan en la tierra, en aquellos días, dice el Señor, que ya no dirán: El cofre del pacto del Señor; no les llegará a la mente, no tendrán ningún recuerdo de ello, o serán conscientes de su pérdida, y no se volverá a hacer.

And when ye shall have multiplied and increased in the land, saith Jehovah, Then shall ye no more speak of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Nor shall it come into your mind. None shall remember it; None shall care for it; It shall not be made any more.

17 En ese momento, Jerusalén será nombrada la sede del reino del Señor; y todas las naciones se unirán a ella, al nombre del Señor, a Jerusalén; y ya no serán sus pasos guiados por los propósitos de sus corazones malvados.

For then shall Jerusalem be called the throne of Jehovah, And all the nations shall resort to it; They shall resort to Jehovah, to Jerusalem, And shall no more walk after the perverseness of their evil hearts.

18 En aquellos días, la familia de Judá irá con la familia de Israel, y se unirán de la tierra del norte a la tierra que yo les di a mis padres por herencia.

In those days shall the house of Judah unite themselves with the house of Israel, And they shall come together from the north country, To the land which I caused your fathers to inherit.

19 Pero yo dije: ¿Cómo voy a ponerte entre los niños y darte una tierra deseada, una herencia de gloria entre los ejércitos de las naciones? Y yo dije: Tú me tienes que decir, padre mío; Y no te apartes de mí.

Then I said, how will I place thee among my children, And give thee a pleasant land, A goodly inheritance among the hosts of nations! And I said, Thou wilt call me thy father; Thou wilt not turn aside from following me.

20 En verdad, como esposa es infiel para su marido, así has sido infiel para mí, oh Israel, dice el Señor.

Yet as a woman is faithless to her husband, So have ye been faithless to me, O house of Israel! saith Jehovah.

21 Una voz está sonando en las colinas abiertas, el llanto y las oraciones de los hijos de Israel; porque su camino está torcido, no han tenido en mente al Señor, su Dios.

A voice is heard upon the hills, The weeping and supplications of the children of Israel! For they have perverted their way; They have forgotten Jehovah their God.

22 Regresen, hijos que han sido rebeldes, y yo quitaré tu deseo de vagar. Mira, hemos venido a ti, porque tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios.

Return, O revolted children! I will heal your rebellion. Behold, we come to thee, For thou art Jehovah our God!

23 Ciertamente, las colinas y el ruido de un ejército en las montañas son una falsa esperanza, ciertamente, en el Señor nuestro Dios está la salvación de Israel.

Truly in vain from the hills, In vain from the mountains do we seek abundance; Only from Jehovah our God cometh salvation for Israel.

24 Pero el Baal ha quitado toda la obra de nuestros padres desde nuestros primeros días; sus rebaños y sus ganado, sus hijos y sus hijas.

For the things of shame have devoured the substance of our fathers from our youth, Their sheep and their oxen, Their sons and their daughters.

25 Acostémonos con nuestra vergüenza, cubriéndonos con nuestra humillación; porque hemos sido pecadores contra el Señor nuestro Dios, nosotros y nuestros padres, desde nuestra juventud hasta el día de hoy; y no hemos oído a la voz del Señor nuestro Dios.

We lie down in our shame, And our ignominy covereth us; For we have sinned against Jehovah our God, We and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, And have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God.
