Jeremías 26
1 Cuando Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, se convirtió por primera vez en rey, esta palabra viene del Señor, diciendo:
In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, came this word from Jehovah, saying,
2 Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: Toma tu lugar en el atrio del templo del Señor y di a todos los pueblos de Judá, que vienen a la casa del Señor para adorar, todo lo que te ordeno que les digas; no retengas ni una palabra;
Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the court of Jehovah's house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in Jehovah's house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them: diminish not a word.
3 Puede ser que escuchen, y que todo hombre se desvíe de su mal camino, para que mi propósito de enviar el mal sobre ellos a causa del mal de sus obras pueda ser cambiado.
Peradventure they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them because of the wickedness of their doings.
4 Y debes decirles: Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: Si no me escuchas y sigues el camino de mi ley que he puesto delante de ti,
And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: If ye will not hearken unto me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
5 Oye las palabras de mis siervos, los profetas que te envío, que se levantan temprano y envío, aunque no hayas prestado atención.
to hearken unto the words of my servants the prophets, whom I have sent unto you, even rising early and sending [them], but ye have not hearkened,
6 Entonces haré esta casa como Silo, y haré de este pueblo una maldición para todas las naciones de la tierra.
— then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
7 Y a la vista de los sacerdotes, los profetas y todo el pueblo, Jeremías dijo estas palabras en la casa del Señor.
And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah.
8 Ahora, cuando Jeremías había llegado al final de decir todo lo que el Señor le había ordenado decir a todo el pueblo, los sacerdotes y los profetas y todo el pueblo lo tomaron por la fuerza, diciendo: “La muerte ciertamente será tu destino.
And it came to pass when Jeremiah had ended speaking all that Jehovah had commanded [him] to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, Thou shalt certainly die.
9 ¿Por qué has dicho en el nombre del Señor: Esta casa será como Silo, y esta tierra será un desperdicio sin nadie viviendo en ella? Y todo el pueblo rodeó a Jeremías en la casa del Señor.
Why hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.
10 Y los jefes de Judá, al oír esto, subieron de la casa del rey a la casa del Señor, y tomaron sus asientos junto a la Puerta Nueva del Templo del Señor.
And the princes of Judah heard these things; and they went up from the king's house unto the house of Jehovah, and sat in the entry of the new gate of Jehovah.
11 Entonces los sacerdotes y los profetas dijeron a los gobernantes y a todo el pueblo: El destino correcto para este hombre es la muerte; porque ha dicho palabras contra esta ciudad en tu audiencia.
And the priests and the prophets spoke unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die, for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.
12 Entonces Jeremías dijo a todos los gobernantes y a todo el pueblo: El Señor me ha enviado como su profeta para decir contra esta casa y contra esta ciudad todas las palabras que han llegado a sus oídos.
And Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
13 Ahora, haz un cambio para mejorar tus caminos y tus obras, y escucha la voz del Señor tu Dios; entonces el Señor se dejará desviar de la decisión que ha tomado contra ti por el mal.
And now, amend your ways and your doings, and hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God; and Jehovah will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
14 En cuanto a mí, aquí estoy en tus manos; haz conmigo lo que parezca bueno y correcto en tu opinión.
But as for me, behold, I am in your hand; do unto me as seemeth good and right in your eyes:
15 Solo asegúrate de que, si me matas, te harás a ti mismo y a tu pueblo y su gente responsables de la sangre de alguien que no ha hecho nada malo; en verdad, el Señor me ha enviado a ti para decirte Todas estas palabras en sus oídos.
only know for certain that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
16 Entonces los gobernantes y todo el pueblo dijeron a los sacerdotes y a los profetas: No está bien que este hombre sea condenado a muerte, porque nos ha dicho palabras en el nombre del Señor nuestro Dios.
And the princes and all the people said unto the priests and to the prophets, This man is not worthy to die; for he hath spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God.
17 Entonces algunos de los hombres responsables de la tierra se levantaron y dijeron a toda la reunión del pueblo:
And there rose up certain of the elders of the land and spoke to all the congregation of the people, saying,
18 Miqueas, de Moreset, que fue un profeta en los días de Ezequías, rey de Judá, dijo a todo el pueblo de Judá: Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Sión se convertirá en un campo arado, y Jerusalén se convertirá en una masa de muros rotos, y la montaña del templo como los lugares altos del bosque.
Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Zion shall be ploughed [as] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
19 ¿Ezequías y todo Judá lo mataron? ¿Acaso no temió el Rey al orar por la gracia del Señor, y el Señor se dejó desviar de la decisión que había tomado contra ellos por el mal? Por este acto podríamos hacer gran mal contra nosotros mismos.
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? Did he not fear Jehovah, and supplicate Jehovah, and Jehovah repented him of the evil that he had pronounced against them? And we should be doing a great evil against our souls.
20 Y hubo otro hombre que fue profeta del Señor, Urías, hijo de Semaías de Quiriat-jearim; dijo contra esta ciudad y contra esta tierra todas las palabras que Jeremías había dicho.
And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of Jehovah, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim: and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah;
21 Y cuando sus palabras llegaron a oídos del rey Joacim y de todos sus hombres de guerra y sus capitanes, el rey procuró matarlo; pero Urías, al oírlo, se llenó de miedo y huyó a Egipto.
and Jehoiakim the king, and all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, and the king sought to put him to death; but Urijah heard it, and he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.
22 Entonces el rey Joacim envió a Egipto, Elnatan hijo de Acbor, y ciertos hombres con él, a Egipto.
And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and men with him, into Egypt;
23 Tomaron a Urías de Egipto y regresaron con él al rey Joacim; quien lo mató con la espada, e hizo que su cadáver fuese enterrado en la fosa de la gente común.
and they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him to Jehoiakim the king; and he slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the children of the people.
24 Pero Ahicam, el hijo de Safán, le prestó ayuda a Jeremías, para que no fuera entregado en manos de la gente para ser ejecutado.
— Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
