Jeremías 19

1 Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: ve y consigue un cántaro de barro, y lleva contigo a algunos de los hombres responsables del pueblo y de los sacerdotes;

Thus said the Lord, Go and buy a bottle from a maker of earthenware, and [take] some of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;

2 Y sal por el valle del hijo de Hinom, por el camino hacia la puerta de las ollas rotas, y di en voz alta las palabras que yo te daré;

And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Charsith, and proclaim there the words that I will speak unto thee.

3 Di: «Escucha la palabra del Señor, oh reyes de Judá y de la gente de Jerusalén; El Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Mira, enviaré el mal a este lugar que será amargo a los oídos de cualquiera que lo escuche.

And say, Hear ye the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil over this place, so that the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

4 Porque me han abandonado, e hicieron de este lugar un lugar extraño, quemando perfumes en él para otros dioses, de los cuales ellos, sus padres y los reyes de Judá no tenían conocimiento; y han hecho este lugar lleno de la sangre de aquellos que no han hecho nada malo;

For the reason that they have forsaken me, and have defiled this place, and have burnt incense in it unto other gods, which they had not known, either they or their fathers, or the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;

5 Y levantaron los lugares altos de Baal, quemando a sus hijos en el fuego; una cosa que no fue ordenada por mí, y nunca estuvo en mi mente.

And they have built the high-places of Ba'al, to burn their sons with fire as burnt-offerings unto Ba'al, which I had not commanded, nor spoken, and which had not come into my mind:

6 Por esta causa, mira, viene un tiempo, dice el Señor, cuando este lugar ya no se llamará Tofet, ni El valle del hijo de Hinnom, sino, El valle de la Muerte.

Therefore, behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called The Thopheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but, The valley of slaughter.

7 Haré que el propósito de Judá y de Jerusalén no se cumpla en este lugar; Los pondré en la espada por sus enemigos, y por las manos de aquellos que tienen designios en contra de su vida; Y sus cuerpos muertos daré para ser alimento para las aves del cielo y para las bestias de la tierra.

And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those that seek their life: and I will give their carcasses as food unto the fowls of the heaven, and unto the beasts of the earth.

8 Y haré de este pueblo un destierro y un motivo de burla; Todos los que pasen serán asombrados y estupectactos, debido a su pestilencia.

And I will render this city desolate, and an [object of] derision: every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

9 Haré que tomen la carne de sus hijos y la carne de sus hijas para comer, se harán una comida el uno al otro, debido a su amarga necesidad y al cruel control de sus enemigos y de los que buscan su vida.

And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his associate, in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and those that seek their life, shall distress them.

10 Entonces, rompe la botella del alfarero ante los ojos de los hombres que han ido contigo.

Then shalt thou break the bottle before the eyes of the men that are going with thee.

11 Y diles: Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: De esta manera, esta gente y esta ciudad serán destruidas por mí, como se rompe un cántaro de barro y no puede volver a juntarse: y los cuerpos de los muertos serán puestos en la tierra en Tofet, hasta que no haya más espacio.

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, In this manner will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be restored again; and in Thopheth shall they bury, for want of room to bury.

12 Esto es lo que haré en este lugar, dice el Señor, y a su gente, haciendo que esta ciudad sea como Tofet.

Thus will I do unto this place, saith the Lord, and to its inhabitants, and to make this city as Thopheth:

13 Y las casas de Jerusalén, y las casas de los reyes de Judá, que hicieron impuras, serán como el lugar de Tofet, incluso todas las casas en cuyos techos inciensos han sido quemados para todo el ejército del cielo, y las ofrendas de bebidas derramadas a otros dioses.

And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are unclean, shall become as the place of the Thopheth, with all the houses upon the roofs of which they have burnt incense to all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink-offerings to other gods.

14 Y Jeremías vino de Tofet, donde el Señor lo había enviado para dar la palabra del profeta; y tomó su lugar en la plaza abierta de la casa del Señor, y dijo a todo el pueblo:

Then came Jeremiah from the Thopheth, whither the Lord had sent him to prophesy; and he placed himself in the court of the house of the Lord; and said to all the people,

15 El Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Mira, enviaré a este pueblo y a todos sus pueblos todo el mal que he dicho; porque se han puesto tercos, para no obedecer mis palabras.

Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I have spoken against it; because they have hardened their neck, so as not to hear my words.
