Jeremías 13
1 Esto es lo que el Señor me dijo: ve y compra un cinto de lino, pontelo en la cintura, pero no la pongas en el agua.
Thus, said Yahweh unto me, —Go and buy for thyself a linen girdle, and put upon thy loins, —but in water, shalt thou not place it.
2 Entonces, como dijo el Señor, compre un cinto y la puse alrededor de mi cintura.
So I bought a girdle according to the word of Yahweh, —and put upon my loins.
3 Y la palabra del Señor vino a mí por segunda vez, diciendo:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto me second time saying:
4 Toma el cinto que compraste, que está en tu cintura, ve al río Eufrates y colócala en la hendidura de la roca.
Take the girdle which thou hast bought which is upon thy loins, —and arise go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the cliff.
5 Así que fui y lo puse en un lugar secreto junto al río Eufrates, como el Señor me había dicho.
So I went, and hid it, by the Euphrates, as Yahweh had commanded me.
6 Luego, después de mucho tiempo, el Señor me dijo: ¡Levántate! Ve al río Eufrates y consigue el cinto que te mande que escondieras allí.
And it came to pass, at the end of many days, —that Yahweh said unto me, —Arise go to the Euphrates, and take from thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there.
7 Así que fui al río Eufrates, y destapando el agujero, saqué el cinto del lugar donde la había guardado; y él cinto estaba dañado y no servía para nada.
So I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle out of the place where I had hidden it, —and lo! the girdle was spoiled, it was good for nothing,
8 Entonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto me saying:
9 El Señor ha dicho: De esta manera haré destruiré el orgullo de Judá y al gran orgullo de Jerusalén.
Thus, saith Yahweh, —After this manner, will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10 Estas personas malvadas que dicen que no escucharán mis palabras, que continúan en el orgullo de sus corazones y se han convertido en sirvientes y adoradores de otros dioses, se convertirán en este cinto que no sirve para nada.
This wicked people who are refusing to hear my words, who are walking in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods, to serve them and to bow down to them, yea let them be like this girdle, which is good for nothing.
11 Porque cuando un cinto rodea con fuerza el cuerpo de un hombre, dice él Señor, hice que todo el pueblo de Israel y todo el pueblo de Judá se unieran fuertemente a mí; para que puedan ser un pueblo para mí, por fama y por alabanza, por gloria; pero no quisieron escuchar.
For as a girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, so caused I to cleave unto me—the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah Declareth Yahweh, to become mine—For a people, and For a name, and For a praise and For an adorning, —but they hearkened not.
12 Así que tienes que decirles esta palabra: Esta es la palabra del Señor, el Dios de Israel: Todo odre de piel estará llena de vino; y te dirán: ¿No nos queda claro que cada odre de piel estará llena de vino?
Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word—Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Every jar, is to be filled with wine; and they will say unto thee, Do we not, know well, that every jar, is to be filled with wine?
13 Entonces tienes que decirles: El Señor ha dicho: Haré embriagar a todos los pueblos de esta tierra, incluso a los reyes sentados en el trono de David, y a los sacerdotes y profetas y a todo el pueblo de Jerusalén.
Then shalt thou say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh—Behold me! filling all the inhabitants of this land Even the kings that are sitting for David upon his throne and the priests and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness;
14 Los aplastaré los unos contra los otros, padres e hijos juntos, dice el Señor: No tendré piedad ni misericordia, no tendré ningún sentimiento por ellos para evitar su destrucción.
and I will dash them every man against his brother even the fathers and the sons together, Declareth Yahweh, —I will not pity, Neither will I spare, Neither will I have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
15 Escuchen con atención; no Sean orgullosos, porque estas son las palabras del Señor.
Hear ye and give ear, be not haughty, —For Yahweh, hath spoken.
16 Den gloria al Señor su Dios, antes de que oscurezca, y antes de que sus pies se deslicen sobre las montes oscuros, y mientras buscas una luz, antes que la convierta en oscuridad profunda, en noche negra.
Give ye to Yahweh your God—glory, Before he cause darkness, and Before your feet stumble upon the twilight mountains; Lest, when ye wait for light, He turn it into the shadow of death, And change it for thick darkness.
17 Pero si no le prestas atención, mi alma llorará en secreto por tu orgullo; mis ojos llorarán amargamente, se anegaran de lágrimas, porque el rebaño del Señor ha sido llevado como prisioneros.
But if ye will not hear it, In secret places, shall my soul weep Because of the pride, And mine eye, shall flow over, and run down with tears, Because captive hath been taken the flock of Yahweh.
18 Di al rey y a la reina madre: Hazte a un lado, siéntate en el suelo; porque la corona de tu gloria ha descendido de tus cabezas.
Say thou to the king and to the queen-mother, Abase yourselves—Sit down, —For descended have your Head-tires, your Crown of adornment.
19 Los pueblos del sur están cerrados, y no hay quien los abra: los de Judá fueron llevados al destierro; todo Judá son llevados como prisioneros.
The cities of the South, are shut And there is none to open, —Judah hath been carried away captive, She hath altogether been carried away captive in full number.
20 Levanten sus ojos, y vean a los que vienen del norte. ¿Dónde está el rebaño que te fue dado, tu hermoso rebaño?
Lift up your eyes and see Them who are coming in from the North, —Where is The flock that was given thee, Thy beautiful flock?
21 ¿Qué dirás cuando ponga sobre ti a los que tú mismo has enseñado? ¿No te llevarán dolores como una mujer en el parto?
What wilt thou say when he shall bring punishment upon thee, Since, thou thyself, hast accustomed them to be over thee as friends in chief? Shall not, pangs, seize thee, as of a woman in childbirth?
22 Y si dices en tu corazón: ¿Por qué me han venido estas cosas? Debido a la cantidad de tus pecados, tus faldas han sido descubiertas y descubrieron tus calcañares.
But if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore have these things befallen me? For the greatness of thine iniquity have Thy skirts been turned aside Thy heels suffered violence!
23 ¿Es posible cambiar la piel del etíope o las marcas en el leopardo? Entonces podría ser posible para ustedes hacer el bien, quienes han sido entrenados para hacer el mal.
Can the Ethiopian change, his skin, Or the leopard his spots? Even, ye, may be able to do right, Who are accustomed to do wrong.
24 Así que los enviaré en todas direcciones, como la paja que es arrebatada por el viento del desierto.
Therefore have I scattered them, As broken straw passing away, by the wind of the desert.
25 Este es tu destino, él castigo que te mereces, dice el Señor, porque me has sacado de tu memoria y has puesto tu fe en lo que es falso.
This is thy lot Thy measured portion from me, Declareth Yahweh; For that thou didst forget me, And confide in falsehood:
26 Así tendré tus faldas descubiertas sobre tu cara, para que se vea tu vergüenza.
Therefore, even I myself, have drawn away thy skirts, over thy face, And thy shame hath been seen,
27 He visto tus actos repugnantes, tus adulterios y tus gritos de deseo y tus fornicaciones en las colinas y en el campo, oh Jerusalén, no tienes ningún deseo de ser limpiado; ¿Cuánto tiempo tardarás en volver a mí?
Thine adulteries and thy neighings, thine unchaste wickedness, Upon the hills in the field, I have seen thine abominations! Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Wilt thou not become pure? After how long yet?
