Jeremías 1
1 Las palabras de Jeremías, hijo de Hilcías, de los sacerdotes que estaban en Anatot en la tierra de Benjamín.
The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests, who dwelt in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin;
2 A los cuales vino la palabra del Señor en los días de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, en el año trece de su gobierno.
to whom the word of Jehovah came in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign;
3 Y volvió en los días de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta el año undécimo de Sedequías, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá; cuando Jerusalén fue desterrada en el quinto mes.
to whom it also came in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem into captivity in the fifth month.
4 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
5 Antes de que te formaras en el cuerpo de tu madre, tuve conocimiento de ti, y antes de tu nacimiento te santifique; Te he dado la obra de ser un profeta para las naciones.
Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee; and before thou camest into the world, I chose thee; I appointed thee to be a prophet to the nations.
6 Entonces dije: ¡Oh Señor Dios! Mira, no tengo poder para las palabras, porque soy un joven.
Then said I, Alas, O Lord Jehovah! Behold, I am not able to speak; for I am a child.
7 Pero el Señor me dijo: No digas: Soy un joven; porque dondequiera que te envíe, debes ir, y todo lo que te ordeno decir, tienes que decir.
But Jehovah said to me, Say not, I am a child; but go to whomever I send thee, and speak whatever I command thee!
8 No temas por ellos; porque yo estoy contigo, para protegerte, dice el Señor.
Be not afraid of them! For I am with thee to help thee, saith Jehovah.
9 Entonces el Señor extendió su mano, tocando mi boca; Y el Señor me dijo: Mira, he puesto mis palabras en tu boca.
Then Jehovah put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. Jehovah also said to me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 Mira, este día te he puesto sobre las naciones y sobre los reinos, para arrancar y aplastar, para destruir y derribar, para construir y plantar.
Behold, I have set thee this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to overthrow; and to build, and to plant.
11 Una vez más vino a mí la palabra del Señor, que decía: Jeremías, ¿qué ves? Y dije: Veo una rama de un almendro.
Then the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, I see a rod of almond-wood.
12 Entonces el Señor me dijo: Has visto bien, porque cuido mi palabra para cumplirla.
And Jehovah said to me, Thou hast seen right; for I am watchful over my word to perform it.
13 Y la palabra del Señor vino a mí por segunda vez, diciendo: ¿Qué ves? Y dije, veo una olla hirviendo, a punto de derramarse desde el norte.
And the word of Jehovah came to me a second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a boiling pot, whose face is turned from the north.
14 Entonces el Señor me dijo: Del norte vendrá el mal, que estallará sobre toda la gente de la tierra.
And Jehovah said to me, From the north shall evil break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15 Porque mira, llamaré a todas las familias de los reinos del norte, dice el Señor; y vendrán, y todos colocarán su trono en el camino hacia Jerusalén, y contra sus muros por todos lados, y contra todos los pueblos de Judá.
For, behold, I will call all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, saith Jehovah; and they shall come, and shall set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all her walls around, and against all the cities of Judah.
16 Y tomaré mi decisión en contra de ellos a causa de todas sus malas acciones; porque han entregado, quemando perfumes a otros dioses y adoraban las obras de sus manos.
And I will pronounce my judgments against them for all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the work of their own hands.
17 Así que prepárate, ve y diles todo lo que te ordeno que digas; no te dejes vencer por el miedo a ellos, o te infundiré miedo ante ellos.
Thou, therefore, gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command thee; be not afraid of them, lest I confound thee before them.
18 Porque hoy te he hecho un pueblo amurallado, un pilar de hierro y muros de bronce contra toda la tierra, contra los reyes de Judá, contra sus capitanes, contra sus sacerdotes y contra el pueblo de la tierra.
For, behold, I make thee this day a fortified city, and a pillar of iron, and a wall of brass against all this land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 Estarán luchando contra ti, pero no te vencerán; porque yo estoy contigo, dice el Señor, para darte la salvación.
They shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I will be with thee, saith Jehovah, to help thee.
