Isaías 5

1 Déjame hacer una canción sobre mi ser querido, una canción de amor por su jardín de vid. Mi ser querido tenía un huerto en una colina fértil.

I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my paternal cousin, about his vineyard. A vineyard was made for my beloved, at the horn in the son of oil.

2 Después de trabajar la tierra con una pala, tomó sus piedras y puso en ella una vid muy especial. y él puso una torre de vigilancia en medio de ella, ahuecando en la roca un lugar para el aplastamiento de la uva; y esperaba que diera las mejores uvas, pero dio uvas silvestres.

And he fenced it in, and he picked the stones out of it, and he planted it with the best vines, and he built a tower in the middle of it, and he set up a winepress within it. And he expected it to produce grapes, but it produced wild vines.

3 Y ahora, ustedes, habitantes de Jerusalén y ustedes, hombres de Judá, sean los jueces entre mí y mi viña.

Now then, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah: judge between me and my vineyard.

4 ¿Se podría haber hecho algo por mi huerto que no haya hecho? ¿Por qué entonces, cuando esperaba las mejores uvas, me dio uvas silvestres?

What more should I have done for my vineyard that I did not do for it? Should I not have expected it to produce grapes, though it produced wild vines?

5 Y ahora, esto es lo que haré con mi jardín de viñas: quitaré el círculo de espinas que lo rodea, y será comido; su muro será derribado.

And now, I will reveal to you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its fence, and it will be plundered. I will pull down its wall, and it will be trampled.

6 Y lo haré desecho; sus ramas no se podarán, o la tierra trabajada con la pala; pero en él aparecerán espinos y maleza, y daré órdenes a las nubes para que no envíen lluvia.

And I will make it desolate. It will not be pruned, and it will not be dug. And briers and thorns will rise up. And I will command the clouds not to rain upon it.

7 Porque el huerto de la vid del Señor de los ejércitos es el pueblo de Israel, y los hombres de Judá son la planta de su deleite: y él estaba buscando juicios rectos, y había sangre; por la justicia, y hubo un clamor de auxilio.

For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel. And the man of Judah is his delightful seedling. And I expected that he would do judgment, and behold iniquity, and that he would do justice, and behold an outcry.

8 ¡Malditos los que unen casa por casa, y ponen campo a campo, hasta que no haya más espacio vital para nadie excepto ellos mismos en toda la tierra!

Woe to you who join house to house, and who combine field to field, even to the limits of the place! Do you intend to live alone in the midst of the earth?

9 El Señor de los ejércitos me ha dicho en secreto: En verdad, el número de casas grandes y hermosas será un desperdicio, y nadie vivirá en ellas.

These things are in my ears, says the Lord of hosts. Otherwise, many houses, great and beautiful, will become desolate, without an inhabitant.

10 Porque diez campos de viñas sólo darán una medida de vino, y una gran cantidad de semilla solo dará una pequeña cantidad de grano.

Then ten acres of vineyard will produce one small bottle of wine, and thirty measures of seed will produce three measures of grain.

11 Malditos son los que se levantan temprano en la mañana para entregarse a una bebida fuerte; que siguen bebiendo hasta la noche hasta que se encienden con vino!

Woe to you who rise up in the morning to pursue drunkenness, and to drink even until evening, so as to be inflamed with wine.

12 Y en sus fiestas hay arpas, panderos, salterios y vino, pero no piensan en la obra del Señor, y no les interesa la obra de sus manos.

Harp and lyre and timbrel and pipe, as well as wine, are at your feasts. But you do not respect the work of the Lord, nor do you consider the works of his hands.

13 Por esta causa, mi gente es llevada como prisionera a países extranjeros por falta de conocimiento; y sus gobernantes se morirán de hambre, y su multitud se secó por necesidad de agua.

Because of this, my people have been led away as captives, for they did not have knowledge, and their nobles have passed away from famine, and their multitudes have dried up from thirst.

14 Por esta causa el inframundo ha ensanchado su garganta, abriendo su boca sin límite; y su gloria, y el ruido de sus multitudes, y sus ruidosas fiestas, descenderán a ella. (Sheol h7585)

For this reason, Hell has expanded its soul, and has opened its mouth without any limits. And their strong ones, and their people, and their exalted and glorious ones will descend into it. (Sheol h7585)

15 Y la cabeza del pobre hombre es humillado, y el gran hombre será abatido, y los ojos del orgulloso son bajados.

And man will be bowed down, and man will be humbled, and the eyes of the exalted will be brought low.

16 Pero el Señor de los ejércitos es levantado como juez, y el Dios santo es visto como santo en justicia.

And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will be sanctified in justice.

17 Entonces los corderos obtendrán comida como en sus pastizales, y el ganado gordo comerá en los lugares desolados.

And the lambs will pasture in proper order, and new arrivals will eat from the deserts turned into fertile lands.

18 ¡Malditos los que usan cuerdas de buey para tirar de la maldad y quien jala su pecado como si jalara de una carreta!

Woe to you who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and who draw sin as if with the rope of a cart,

19 Que dicen: Dejen que él haga su trabajo rápidamente, que sea repentino, para que podamos verlo; que se acerque el designio del Santo de Israel, para que sepamos.

and who say: “Let him hurry, and let his work arrive soon, so that we may see it. And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach and arrive, so that we may know it.”

20 Malditos son los que dan el nombre de bien al mal, y de mal a lo que es bueno: los que hacen que la luz sea oscura y la oscuridad en luz: los que hacen lo amargo en dulce, y lo dulce en amargo.

Woe to you who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 ¡Malditos los que parecen sabios para sí mismos y que se enorgullecen de su conocimiento!

Woe to you who are wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own sight!

22 ¡Malditos los que son fuertes para tomar vino, y excelentes para hacer bebidas mixtas!

Woe to you who are powerful at drinking wine, who are strong men in contriving inebriation!

23 Que por su recompensa da apoyo a la causa del pecador, y que le quita la justicia a los rectos.

For you justify an impious man in exchange for bribes, and you carry away the justice of a just man from him.

24 Por esta causa, como la maleza del grano se quema con lenguas de fuego, y cuando la hierba seca desciende ante la llama, su raíz será como los tallos secos del grano y su flor se irá en polvo: porque han ido en contra de la ley del Señor de los ejércitos, y no han dado honor a la palabra del Santo de Israel.

Because of this, as the tongue of fire devours stubble, and as the heat of a flame burns it completely, so will their root become like glowing embers, and so will their offshoot ascend like dust. For they have cast aside the law of the Lord of hosts, and they have blasphemed the eloquence of the Holy One of Israel.

25 Por esta razón, la ira del Señor ha estado ardiendo contra su pueblo, y su mano se ha extendido contra ellos en castigo, y las colinas temblaban, y sus cadáveres eran como basura en los lugares abiertos de la ciudad.

For this reason, the fury of the Lord has been enraged against his people, and he has extended his hand over them, and he has struck them. And the mountains were disturbed. And their carcasses became like dung in the midst of the streets. After all this, his fury was not turned away; instead, his hand was still extended.

26 Y dejará que se levante una bandera como señal a una nación lejana, silbando desde los confines de la tierra: y vendrán rápida y repentinamente.

And he will lift up a sign to nations far away, and he will whistle to them from the ends of the earth. And behold, they will rush forward speedily.

27 No hay cansancio entre ellos, y ningún hombre tiene pies débiles; vienen sin descansar ni dormir, a ninguno se le ha desatado el cinturón de la cintura, y el cordón de sus zapatos no se ha roto.

There is no one weak or struggling among them. They will not become drowsy, and they will not sleep. Neither will the belt around their waist be loosened, nor the laces of their boots be broken.

28 Sus flechas son afiladas, y todo arco está inclinado; los pies de sus caballos son como rocas, y sus ruedas son como una tormenta apresurada.

Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are taut. The hoofs of their horses are like flint, and their wheels are like the force of a tempest.

29 El sonido de sus ejércitos será como la voz de un león, y su grito de guerra como el ruido de los leoncillos; con fuertes gruñidos atrapa la presa y se la lleva, y allí no hay quien se lo quite de las manos.

Their roaring is like the lion; they will roar like young lions. They will both roar and seize their prey. And they will wrap themselves around it, and there will be no one who can rescue it.

30 Y su voz sonará sobre ella en ese día como el bramido del mar, y si los ojos de un hombre se vuelven hacia la tierra, y he aquí todo está oscuro y lleno de problemas; y la luz se oscurece por espesas nubes.

And in that day, they will make a noise over it, like the sound of the sea. We will gaze out toward the land, and behold, the darkness of the tribulation, and even the light has been darkened by its gloom.
