Isaías 49

1 Escucha, oh islas, a mí; y tomen nota, pueblos lejanos: el Señor me ha marcado desde el principio; cuando todavía estaba en el cuerpo de mi madre, él tenía mi nombre en mente.

Listen to me, ye distant lands! Attend, ye nations from afar! Jehovah called me at my birth; In my very childhood he called me by name.

2 Y ha puesto mi boca como espada afilada, a la sombra de su mano me ha guardado; y me ha hecho como una flecha pulida, manteniéndome en su lugar secreto;

He made my mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of his hand did he hide me. He made me a polished shaft; In his quiver did he hide me.

3 Y me dijo: Tú eres mi siervo, Israel, en quien se verá mi gloria.

He said to me, Thou art my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

4 Y dije: No he sufrido cansancio por nada, he dado mi fuerza sin ningún propósito o beneficio, pero aún así el Señor asumirá mi causa y mi Dios me dará mi recompensa.

Then I said, I have labored in vain; For naught, for vanity, have I spent my strength; Yet my cause is with Jehovah, And my reward with my God.

5 Y ahora, dice el Señor, que me hizo su siervo cuando aún estaba en el cuerpo de mi madre, para que pudiera hacer que Jacob volviera a él, y para que Israel pudiera reunirse con él; y fui honrado a los ojos del Señor, y mi Dios se convirtió en mi fortaleza.

And now thus saith Jehovah, Who formed me from my birth to be his servant To bring Jacob to him again, And that Israel might be gathered to him, —For I am honored in the eyes of Jehovah, And my God is my strength, —

6 No es suficiente que uno de mis sirvientes vuelva a poner a las tribus de Jacob en su lugar, y recuperar a los de Israel que han sido expulsados; mi propósito es darles luz a las naciones, para que sean mi salvación hasta el fin de la tierra.

He said, It is a small tiling that thou shouldst be my servant, To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also make thee the light of the nations, That my salvation may reach the ends of the earth.

7 El Señor, el libertador de Israel, su Santo, le dice al despreciado, a quien odian las naciones, a un servidor de tiranos; los reyes verán y se levantarán de sus lugares, y los jefes dará culto; porque el Señor que guarda sus promesas; el Santo de Israel que te ha tomado para sí mismo.

Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, To him that is despised by men, abhorred by the people, To the servant of tyrants; Kings shall see, and stand up, Princes, and they shall pay homage, On account of Jehovah, who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

8 Esta es la palabra del Señor: Te he escuchado en un tiempo aceptable, y he sido tu ayudante en un día de salvación; y te mantendré a salvo, y te daré como pacto del pueblo, para ordenar la tierra, para repartir las herencias que ahora son desoladas;

Thus saith Jehovah; In the time of favor will I hear thee; In the day of deliverance will I help thee; I will preserve thee, and make thee a mediator for the people, To restore the land, to distribute the desolated inheritances;

9 Diciendo a los que están en cadenas: Salgan; a los que están en tinieblas, salgan a la luz. Por cierto, recibirán comida donde quiera que vayan y tendrán pastos en todas las cimas de las montañas secas.

To say to the prisoners, Go forth! To them that are in darkness, Come to the light! They shall feed in the ways, And on all high places shall be their pasture.

10 No necesitarán comida ni bebida, ni se preocuparán por el calor o el sol; porque el que tiene misericordia será su guía, llevándolos por los manantiales de agua.

They shall not hunger, neither shall they thirst; Neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them; For he that hath compassion on them shall lead them; To springs of water shall he guide them.

11 Y haré de todos mis montes un camino, y mis carreteras serán levantadas.

And I will make all my mountains a highway; And my roads shall be prepared.

12 Mira, estos vienen de lejos; y estos del norte y del oeste; y estos de la tierra de Sinim.

Behold! these shall come from far; And behold! these from the North and from the West, And these from the land of Sinim.

13 Que tu voz sea fuerte en el canto, oh cielos; y alegraos, oh tierra; haz sonidos de alegría, oh montañas, porque el Señor ha dado consuelo a su pueblo, y tendrá misericordia de sus aflicciones.

Sing, O ye heavens, and rejoice, O earth! Break forth into singing, ye mountains! For Jehovah comforteth his people, And hath compassion on his afflicted ones.

14 Pero Sion dijo: El Señor me ha dejado, me ha olvidado.

Zion saith, “Jehovah hath forsaken me; The Lord hath forgotten me.”

15 ¿Una mujer entregará al niño en su pecho, sin tener piedad por el fruto de su vientre? Sí, ella se olvida, pero yo no te olvidaré.

Can a woman forget her sucking child, So as not to have compassion on the son of her womb? Yet, should they forget, I will never forget thee!

16 Mira, tu nombre está marcado en mis manos; Tus muros están siempre delante de mí.

Behold, I have graven thee on the palms of my hands; Thy walls are ever before my eyes.

17 Tus constructores vienen pronto; Tus enemigos y los que te hicieron perder saldrán de ti.

Thy children shall make haste; They that destroyed and laid thee waste shall depart from thee.

18 Levanten sus ojos alrededor y vean: todos se acercan a ustedes. Por mi vida, dice el Señor, en verdad los pondrás todos sobre ti como adorno, y te vestirás como a una novia.

Lift up thine eyes around, and see! They all assemble themselves, and come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, Thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with a rich dress; Thou shalt bind them on thee, as a bride her jewels.

19 Porque aunque los lugares baldíos de tu tierra hayan sido destruidos, ahora no serás lo suficientemente ancho para tu gente, y los que te destruyeron estarán muy lejos.

For thy waste and desolate places, and thy land laid in ruins, Shall now be too narrow for the inhabitants; And they that devoured thee shall be far away.

20 Los niños de tu orfandad dirán en tus oídos: El lugar es muy angosto para mí; dame espacio para que pueda descansar.

Thou, that hast been childless, shalt yet hear thy sons exclaim: “The place is too narrow for me; make room for me that I may dwell.”

21 Entonces dirás en tu corazón: ¿Quién me ha dado todos estos hijos? cuando me quitaron a mis hijos y ya no pude tener otros, ¿quién los cuidó? Cuando estaba solo, ¿dónde estaban estos?

And thou shalt say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these? I surely was childless and unfruitful, An exile, and an outcast; who then hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, then, where were they?

22 Esta es la palabra del Señor Dios: Mira, haré una señal con mi mano a las naciones, y pondré mi bandera por los pueblos; y tomarán a tus hijos en sus bestias, y tus hijas en sus espaldas.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will lift up my hand to the nations, And set up my standard to the kingdoms; They shall bring thy sons in their arms, And thy daughters upon their shoulders.

23 Y los reyes te cuidarán, y las reinas te darán su leche; ellos se inclinarán ante ti, besando el polvo de tus pies; y estarán seguros de que yo soy el Señor, y que aquellos que ponen su esperanza en mí no serán avergonzados.

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, And queens thy nursing mothers; Upon their faces shall they bow down before thee, And lick the dust of thy feet. Thus shalt thou know that I am Jehovah; And they who trust in me shall not be put to shame.

24 ¿Se quitarán los bienes de guerra al hombre fuerte, o se escapara los prisioneros de un tirano?

Shall the prey be taken away from the mighty? Or shall the spoil of the terrible be rescued?

25 Pero el Señor dice: Incluso los prisioneros del tirano serán quitados de él, y la presa del tirano será liberada, porque yo me enfrentaré contra tus enemigos, y mantendré a tus hijos a salvo.

Yea, thus saith Jehovah, The prey shall be taken away from the mighty, And the spoil of the terrible shall be rescued; For with him that contendeth with thee will I contend, And I will save thy children.

26 Y la carne de tus atacantes será tomada sola para comer; y tomarán su sangre para beber, como si fuera vino dulce; y todos los hombres verán que yo, el Señor, soy tu salvador, tu libertador, el Fuerte de Jacob.

And I will cause thine oppressors to eat their own flesh; With their own blood shall they be drunk, as with new wine; And all flesh shall know that I Jehovah am thy saviour; That thy redeemer is the Mighty One of Jacob.
