Isaías 37
1 Al oír esto, Ezequías se rasgó la túnica, en señal de dolor y entró en la casa del Señor.
When king Hezekiah sh'ma ·heard obeyed· it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Adonai’s house.
2 Envió a Eliaquim, que estaba sobre la casa, y a Sebna el escriba, y a los principales sacerdotes, con ropas ásperas en señal de dolor, al profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz.
He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the prophet, the son of Amoz.
3 Y ellos le dijeron: Ezequías dice: Este día es un día de angustia, de castigo y de blasfemia; porque los niños están listos para nacer, pero no hay fuerzas para darles a luz.
They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘Today is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to give birth.
4 Puede ser que el Señor tu Dios escuche las palabras del alto oficial, a quien el rey de Asiria, su maestro, ha enviado a decir cosas malas contra el Dios vivo, y lo reprenderá por las palabras que él Señor tu Dios ha oído, así que haz tu oración por el remanente de la gente.
It may be Adonai your God will sh'ma ·hear obey· the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria [Level plain] his master has sent to defy the Elohim Chayim [Living God], and will rebuke the words which Adonai your God has sh'ma ·heard obeyed·. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”
5 Entonces los siervos del rey Ezequías vinieron a Isaías.
So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah [Salvation of Yah].
6 Entonces Isaías les dijo: Esto es lo que debes decirle a tu amo: El Señor dice: No te preocupes por las palabras que los siervos del rey de Asiria han dicho contra mí en tu oído.
Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] said to them, “Tell your master, ‘Adonai says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, with which the servants of the king of Assyria [Level plain] have blasphemed me.
7 Mira, pondré un espíritu en él, y las malas noticias llegarán a sus oídos, y él volverá a su tierra; Y allí lo haré matar.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him and he will sh'ma ·hear obey· news, and will teshuvah ·completely return· to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”
8 Entonces regresó él alto oficial, y cuando llegó allí, el rey de Asiria estaba haciendo la guerra a Libna, porque había llegado a sus oídos que el rey de Asiria se había ido de Laquis.
So Rabshakeh make teshuvah ·complete return·, and found the king of Assyria [Level plain] warring against Libnah, for he had sh'ma ·heard obeyed· that he was departed from Lachish.
9 Y cuando le llegaron noticias de que Tirhaca, rey de Etiopía, ha salido a pelear contra ti. Y envió representantes a Ezequías, rey de Judá, diciendo:
He sh'ma ·heard obeyed· news concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to fight against you.” When he sh'ma ·heard obeyed· it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
10 Esto es lo que debes decir a Ezequías, rey de Judá: No permitas que tu Dios, en quien está tu fe, te dé una falsa esperanza, diciendo: Jerusalén no será entregada en manos del rey de Asiria.
“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah [Praised], saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem [City of peace] won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria [Level plain].”
11 Sin duda, la historia ha llegado a tus oídos sobre lo que los reyes de Asiria han hecho en todas las tierras, poniendo a la maldición ¿y te mantendrás a salvo de su destino?
Behold, you have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· what the kings of Assyria [Level plain] have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Shall you be delivered?
12 ¿Los dioses de las naciones mantuvieron a salvo a aquellos a quienes mis padres enviaron a la destrucción, Gozan y Harán y Resef, y los hijos de Edén que estaban en Telasar?
Have the deities of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, Haran [Mountaineer], Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?
13 ¿Dónde están el rey de Hamat, y el rey de Arpad, y el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Hena e Iva?
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?’”
14 Ezequías tomó la carta de las manos de los que habían venido con ella; y después de leerlo, Ezequías subió a la casa del Señor y abrió la carta allí delante del Señor.
Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to Adonai’s house, and spread it before Adonai.
15 E hizo oración al Señor, diciendo:
Hezekiah prayed to Adonai, saying,
16 Oh Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, sentado entre los querubines, tú solo eres el Dios de todos los reinos de la tierra; Has hecho los cielos y la tierra.
“Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], the God of Israel [God prevails], who is enthroned among the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.
17 Vuelve tu oído a nosotros, oh Señor; deja que tus ojos estén abiertos, oh Señor, y mira; toma nota de todas las palabras de Senaquerib que ha enviado a los hombres a decir mal contra el Dios vivo.
Turn your ear, Adonai, and sh'ma ·hear obey·. Open your eyes, Adonai, and behold. Sh'ma ·Hear obey· all of the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the Elohim Chayim [Living God].
18 En verdad, oh Señor, los reyes de Asiria han destruido a todas las naciones y sus tierras,
Truly, Adonai, the kings of Assyria [Level plain] have destroyed all the countries and their land,
19 Y dieron sus dioses al fuego; porque no eran dioses, sino madera y piedra, obra de manos de hombres; por eso los han dado a la destrucción.
and have cast their deities into the fire; for they were no elohim ·deities, judges·, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.
20 Pero ahora, Señor nuestro Dios, danos la salvación de su mano, para que quede claro a todos los reinos de la tierra que tú, y solo tú, eres el Señor.
Now therefore, Yahweh Eloheikhem [Yahweh our God], save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Adonai, even you only.”
21 Entonces Isaías, el hijo de Amoz, enviado a Ezequías, diciendo: El Señor, el Dios de Israel, dice: La oración que me has hecho contra Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, ha llegado a mis oídos.
Then Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Yahweh, Elohim Isra'el [He sustains breathing, God of God prevails] says, ‘Because you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria [Level plain],
22 Esta es la palabra que el Señor ha dicho acerca de él: La hija virgen de Sión, te avergüenza y se ríe. La hija de Jerusalén se burla de ti a tus espaldas.
this is the word which Adonai has spoken concerning him. The virgin daughter of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem [City of peace] has shaken her head at you.
23 ¿Contra quién has dicho cosas malas y amargas? ¿Y contra quién ha sonado tu voz y tus ojos levantados? contra el Dios Santo de Israel.
Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails].
24 Enviaste a tus siervos con malas palabras contra el Señor, y dijiste: Con todos mis carros de guerra he subido a la cima de las montañas, a las partes más lejanas del Líbano; y sus altos cedros serán talados, y los mejores árboles de sus bosques; subiré a sus lugares más altos, a sus bosques densos.
By your servants, have you defied 'Adonay [Lord], and have said, “With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees. I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field.
25 He hecho pozos de agua y he tomado sus aguas, y con mi pie he secado todos los ríos de Egipto.
I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt [Abode of slavery].”
26 ¿No ha llegado a tus oídos cómo lo hice mucho antes, y lo propuse en tiempos pasados? Ahora he dado efecto a mi diseño, para que, por su parte, los pueblos fuertes se convierten en masas de muros rotos.
Have you not sh'ma ·heard obeyed· how I have done it long ago, and formed it in ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to destroy fortified cities, turning them into ruinous heaps.
27 Por eso sus habitantes no tenían poder, fueron quebrantados y avergonzados; eran como la hierba del campo, o una planta verde; como la hierba en las casas, que un viento frío produce residuos.
Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops, and like a field before its crop has grown.
28 Pero tengo conocimiento de que te levantas y de que descansas, de tu salida y tu entrada.
But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.
29 Porque tu ira contra mí y tu orgullo han llegado a mis oídos, pondré mi anzuelo en tu nariz y mi cordón en tus labios, y te haré volver por el camino que viniste.
Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.
30 Y esta será la señal para ti: obtendrás tu alimento este año de lo que surja de sí mismo y, en el segundo año, del producto del mismo; y en el tercer año pondrás en tu semilla, y en el grano, y harás enredaderas, y comerán sus frutos.
This shall be the sign to you. You will eat this year that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from the same; and in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
31 Y los de Judá que aún viven volverán a echar raíces en la tierra y darán fruto.
The remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah [Praised] will again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
32 Porque de Jerusalén saldrán él remanente; los que han estado a salvo, y los que aún viven saldrán del monte Sión; por el celo del Señor de los ejércitos, esto se hará.
For out of Jerusalem [City of peace] a remnant will go out, and survivors will escape from Mount Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking]. The zeal of Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] will perform this.’
33 Por esta causa que el Señor dice acerca del rey de Asiria, Él no vendrá a esta ciudad, ni enviará una flecha contra ella; no lo vendrá con escudos, ni levantará una rampa de tierra contra él.
Therefore Adonai says concerning the king of Assyria [Level plain], ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.
34 Por él camino que vino, volverá y no entrará en esta ciudad. Declara el Señor.
By the way that he came, by the same he shall teshuvah ·completely return·, and he shall not come to this city,’ says Adonai.
35 Porque mantendré este pueblo a salvo, por mi honor, y por el honor de mi siervo David.
‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David [Beloved]’s sake.’”
36 Salió y mató el ángel del Señor en el ejército de los asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil hombres; y cuando el pueblo se levantó temprano en la mañana, no había nada que ver sino cuerpos muertos.
Ha mal'ak Yahweh [The Angel of He sustains breathing] went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
37 Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, volvió a su lugar en Nínive.
So Sennacherib king of Assyria [Level plain] departed, went away, teshuvah ·completely returned· to Nineveh [Offspring’s Habitation], and stayed there.
38 Y sucedió que cuando él estaba adorando en la casa de su dios Nisroc, sus hijos Adramelec y Sarezer lo mataron con la espada, y se fueron a huir a la tierra de Ararat. Y Esarhadon, su hijo, se convirtió en rey en su lugar.
As he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his deity, Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons struck him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Esar Haddon his son reigned in his place.
